A fun roguelite and a step up over the recent deluge of "Press forward to enter the exact same room 50 times and MAYBE you'll find something that isn't an enemy or trap" games.
The story is forgettable: cute girl in fantasy world enters ero dungeon full of monsters, traps, and sometimes treasure to rescue a bunch of villagers kidnapped by succubi. Okay, sure. But where this game fails at story, it delivers with gameplay and charm.
You have a variety of stats, like strength, accuracy, wisdom etc., and the MC needs to try and find stat-enhancing items to properly fight monsters (or run away from those too strong for her).
Treasure and potions can raise (or sometimes lower) the stats, and it might not be as straight-forward as it seems. Even the erotic items tend to have actual interactivity, such as providing boosts from number of orgasms etc. Cursed loot is restrained to two types of bottles (aphrodisiac and semen, respectively), which the MC does drink albeit unwillingly.
"Souls" are a resource to essentially manipulate luck. They can help lock in decisions which are otherwise randomised and also help (or hinder) the MC in combat. This means they're actually quite important to success.
What I consider good:
- the MC might be inspired by Kanade Otonose from hololive, who I like as a character
- the artstyle is very adorable (if somewhat traditional with thick black lines) and shows the MC's mental state very well
- it uses a novel idea to lay out plot panels like an infinitely-scrolling comic/manga
- the monsters having several defeat/game over scenes each offers a lot of variety
- the girl's white clothes are drawn as sticky/transparent when she's sweaty/drenched in cum; when not in Magical Girl mode (i.e. most of the time), she doesn't wear panties
- there are randomised paths every run since this is a roguelite but the visuals actually change around to portray what is happening properly
- there is an "infinite souls mode", basically a fun sandbox to mess around (souls being aforementioned luck manipulation mechanic)
Neutral:
- the sound effects/voice bits can get a little annoying because they aren't varied
- the MC never seems to switch to enjoying/perverted speech when it comes to erotic actions
Bad:
- the game seems to lacks any form of NG+, instead resetting to default stats every single time you restart
- the story is barebones and the two succubi antagonists are not all that present except when they randomly swoop in to be annoying
- due to the randomness, the difficulty is all over the place
- some of the graphics are bugged since they are randomised rather than align with the actions (most noticeably when choosing directions; the game may drop the exact same walk graphic up to three times no matter which directions are actually shown as options)
All in all, this game satisfies my need for exploration which Visual Novels lack while also not making me cross huge, empty maps and commit to constant stat grinding against monsters like all too many RPGM titles. It's no Riviera: The Promised Land by any means (or Princess Sacrifice), but it doesn't pretend to be and doesn't need to be, either. An easily earned 4 stars.
