VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Going Rogue [Ch.7 Deluxe] [Ker]

Mid. About a 6.5/10. Short story with some options, only a few of them actually matter. Some recycled content between routes. Sexy stuff wasn't really woven into the story well. Not bad overall
A very dull and mediocre game with a banal ending. And the graphics are so-so.

Pros:

- Characters with flaws
- A story that at least tried to push a new approach versus the same old, same old.
- Renders was well to my liking.
- Animations was alright.

Cons:

- Story endings felt too rushed for my taste. I don't know if the detractors played a part in it but it left me feeling unfulfilled.
- Could've used a editor.

Conclusion:

It was a good first attempt for all things considered. I look forward to trying out the next project.

This one has lights and deep shadows from the beginning. I appreciate trying to do an adult story outside the usual topics, in this case an undercover cop story... the problem with that is that it doesn't work. You play the best recruit and get to choose departament and instantly get in a fight for no real reason that destroys your career. Things don't work that way in the real world so all interest in the story just flew out the window and never came back. I think choices do matter here, but since I played it with the mod since the story didn't matter to me nor its characters, can't say for sure. Writing is not bad, not great either, but since the story lost interest it falls on nowhere and I skipped through most of it.

Render quality and character models are pretty good, and animations are decent, even if sex scenes are a bit too brief. I turned down all sounds but I think there weren't many in any case. And I had a minor bug on one of the choices which should be available to me but didn't register the click, but it might have been due to the mod.

So, all in all, I was considering giving this one 2 stars instead of 3 since, for me, the bad outweighs the good. But this is a complete finished story, and that's rare with so many projects being cancelled half-way, so that earned it the decision to give it the third star.

PROS
- There is some effort to branch the game into specific plotlines or arcs. Some effort to make decisions matter. Not everything is lazily thrown into one common route like with many other games.
- Animations and renders are decent.
- Game is well presented but it removed some QoL features such as Quick Save/Load.

CONS
- Endings are very unsatisfying. Its literally just 1 sex scene depending on which route you picked. Very very unfulfilling and disappointing end to a rather decent game.
- Ava and Miranda had the same sex scene at their apartment. Same dialogues, same animations, just different Daz models. So no matter who you choose your gonna see the same scene word by word just with a different character. I thought that was incredibly lazy on the dev's part.

The fact they claim it's realistic is the goofiest shit imaginable, that is NOT the case and the only good thing about this game is maybe the cutscenes but I personally just don't like any of them so oh well.

Can praise the game for renders, CGs and animations, but other things need quite a bit of work.
The game started with heavy consciences, where it could lead to NTR if player chose the wrong options, hence felt very impactful, but shortly after the game changed direction and every player decision does not mean a lot anymore. Story became weaker and whole plot started being very clear and no build-up was happening, hence rating it as average game, as VN should be strong on story side, not only the renders we get.

Interesting plot, quite engaging, you're always at the moment.
The whole story seems a bit rushed, especially closer to the end, no slow burn, no characters's personalities development and jada jada. And it suits the story I guess, cause this game is more like action movie (if we could extrapolate).
Ending is rushed as well, but it's common issue.
Some animations look weird, scenes with Zoe mostly.
Also I noticed that in steam version of the game some scenes were deleted, or at least it looks like it. (Before buying it on steam I played earlier versions of the game and there were scenes from the point of view of antagonist, and I didn't see those scenes on steam).
Also Dev fixed the endings where we choose Zoe, in earlier version of a game if you choose Zoe - Grace dies, in this version I managed to end up with Zoe and Grace is alive. Or maybe I just fucked up in my previous playthrough, who knows))
In general the game is decent, I had my fun while playing it.

This game is trash, so I didn't finish it, this review is about the first 2 chapters.

In general, I like this type of games on a criminal theme. The game wasn't too busy, the story telling was okay, there weren't too many endings that were easy to understand. And most importantly, the game is available on two platforms, 32-bit and 64-bit. That's why this game deserves 5 stars from me.

Such a poorly written story stright from the start....

Before getting into the game they make a big deal out of choices made matters, but it truely dosent matter which ill explain below, also you might have multiple choices but all of them leads to the same thing, which makes the choices absolutly pointless....

MC gets in a fight, gets jailed and thinks hes boss is very likely part of setting him up so she can use him as an undercover cop and yes she is using him for her own gain.
Then when you visit your boss after you get out of jail, MC starts thinking about how she looks nude and how trained her ass is, i mean gimme a break why on earth would he have anything but hate towards the bitch boss whos been treating him like shit from day 1.....its just plain stupid and your forced to sit and look at it while playing/reading....

I just dont get why so many games including this one has an MC that always thinks like a 12 year old that has never seen a pair of tits....i mean put anything in front of him like a 500 pound fat girl with huge sagging tits draging behind her on the ground while walking, MC would just think "man shes hot cant wait to tab that" how about dropping all that stupid thinking and let the player/reader make up hes or her own mind about how someone look....

Also choices and story seems off, if you dont follow the path games tells you to in walkthrouh like killing an unarmed man it breaks, my choice was not to kill and yet when you meet your boss all the text sounds like you killed him....

Same when you turn down having sex with your bitch boss later MC acts like he wants to fuck her again but this time the boss stops him, i mean wtf i turned her down and now MC tries to get with her again.....its stupid and game acts like you had sex with her first time....boss tells you "we shouldent i went to far last time and it was my mistake" and "lets pretend it never happened" i mean really wtf? the thing is last time for me i dident do a damn thing with her and nothing happened, and again walkthrough still wants you to say no and fuck her again....atleast you can still turn her down once more but man its poorly writen and no eye for details at all which breaks story texts.

Even worse is when you turn down Grace for sex, the next day she ask if you want to join her for a sunbath on the roof, if you follow her MC will tell her "We made love last night, ive already seen you naked" and this is for a game where choices are supposed to matter? it really cant get any worse then this.

There is also a kind of mini game that makes no sense, click w,a,s,d no realy time limit on most of them and you can just click it with mouse instend as well, making it a pointless attempt to make game a challenge or fun or hell i dont know, just pointless.

The choices of girls is also extremly bad, you get the choice to be with a ex junkey now a whore working for the gangster boss, the bitch cop boss thats using you, a hooker at a bar, you get the picture.....

The only good thing is the animations are pretty good if you get to see them, for me i dident really see many since i am just not into those kind of girls, its just a big turn-off, but they dident make all sex scenes animated either feels like they rushed it instend.

The game had potential but it just got ruined by a poor story with 0 romance and poor choices in girls, they look nice sure but i wouldent touch them with a 10ft pole other then the MCs partner.

Also MC has 0 brains hes supposed to be undercover and yet he reveals him self to hes former partner insted of staying hidden, again it just makes no sense, he really should know better.

I think ive made more then enough points as to how this game is and the lack of details and broken storie lines and the choices that arent really a choice... its pretty much just kenitic, only thing choice does it skip sex scenes but treats it as you did have sex.

Ending is shitty as well, leaves questions that you will never find out which is the worst kind of endings.

started out as decent. several months later, baits have been thrown here and there, too much plot holes, not really worth it. rushed ending as well i wouldn't even call it decent end. just dont recommend this to anybody.

Another one of those "could have been great" games, that falls short in most areas that matter.

The Good

Renders are top tier. All the ladies are very attractive and distinctive. Miranda is the Dommy Mommy, Zoe is the hot but naive partner, Grace the damsel in distress, and lots of random sluts and whores to pass around.
Music is not bad, has some sound effects, but not where it really needs them, which is in the lewd scenes.
Writing and dialogue are passable for a porn game, but pretty shallow, especially compared to the story it's trying to emulate.
Multiple endings and decent amount of sex scenes for its length, which is way too short.

The Not so Good

Needs sexy sounds in the lewd scenes, and the animations are pretty basic. Lewds are too short, could use some more images and camera angles.
Some kind of weird multi-MC NTR stuff going on with earlier versions of the game, and while it has been removed, it left gaps, and makes the story seem that much shorter.
Convoluted plot with lots of holes and quite rushed endings. Could use a lot more dialogue and in between scenes for exposition and clarity.

Overall, not a terrible game, just could have been much better.
Hopefully we see some improvements with the Devs next project.

The art is top quality in all aspects(backround, models, animations).

Story while it has a few holes it is plenty interesting enough to keep you wanting to finish the game.

Sex scenes, all the ones i got were great, no annoying low quality "animations", long enough to enjoy but not get boring, a great selection of angles.

Negatives

A primary part of the whole game is fixated on zoe which would be fine if the MC and her had a bigger interaction at the start but the MC met her once and only for a few hours given that its strange for her to obsess over the MC like a stalker for the rest of the game especially if you reject her which if you do then a lot of what the MC does and says dosent make much sense.

The MC in this game isnt bad as game MC's go but he still needed improvement, For an adult who is also a trained police office having him act like a teen everytime hes near a woman comes off as wrong, hes usualy the last to figure things out and while you can make choices the MC stays the same no matter what(would have liked his attitude to change if you picked the aggressive options)


My biggest problem with the game was the choices in women available to have sex with, a prostitute, a dom, an ex druggie, or the main girl who is practically forced on you.

Would like to have given the 3.5 stars as i think it deserves that.

TL;DR: Overall it's an interesting game, very much worth playing. Especially recommended to those who like criminal mysteries with complex plots.

It's a good story with outcome depending on your choices in a complex way. You might need to save often and try to replay some parts to get the most of it.

The writing is good. Characters vary in terms of appearance, kinks and character.

High quality renders. Pretty models, especially Grace.

A few times MC could be a bit more alpha, though in general it's all good. Sex scenes don't seem always very sexy, at least to me. The interface is fancy but less convenient than the default UI, and harder to customize. The programming of the script isn't very professional, though it gets the job done.

Conclusion: keep up the good work, Ker!

This game has really nice graphics. The details are beautifull and there are great animations. The characters look overall attractive. Unfrotunately the sex scenes are pretty short in comparison to other stuff and not very detailed. The story is also weak point of the game.

Starts off very strong but really drops the ball at the end. Very few choices actually matter, almost all choices boil down to the average VN "does she like me well enough to bone" point system. Game ends too fast. Renders are high quality but the sex all feels pretty hollow for how good the characters start at the beginning. Overall it's a great setup wasted by mediocre plot and characterization.

The start and finish of the game feel off. The pacing isn't very good. But the middle chapters are quite enjoyable.I personally didn't like the endings, doesn't really feel like any of my choices did anything. The smut is alright.

I'm used to create a table with different categories when I'm rating a game, but this work with games worth to be played. This is not one of them.

The story is plain and uninteresting, and this can be considered the best part of this game.

The models may be pretty, but they don't feel alive. Just plastic dolls with dry bodies and without realistic expressions.

Moving around the menu is boring because of unavoidable transitions and bad design.

Finally the dialog box will remain transparent even if you choose otherwise in the settings, and text are often not visible because of background or bad color choices.

Stay away from this book with a beautiful cover, but bad contents.

I legitimately don't understand why this game exists. It's not bad really, it just serves zero purpose. It's the 2006 movie Departed, with some tits and a couple sex scenes--and that film was 151 minutes while I completed this in 119, so yeah...

Perhaps if this had depth crammed into the runtime I could forgive the fact it's a ripoff, but it doesn't. Characters have zero depth at all. They exist, they say some words, some stuff happens, then the game ends in two hours. No one has any personality, no one has motives, desires, just...why even make this game? I could definitely get behind a Departed/Internal Affairs AVN, but you have to do something differently or better. Taking the same thing and doing it worse is just a waste of time.

I mean if you're the world's biggest D/IA fan have at it, but don't expect literally anything to be different.

Graphics:
One of the best at the moment. Very very very beautiful renders, nice animations. Pretty characters. Large size of the game but the quality is at least seen.
Plot:
That is a detective story with undercover work for the MC. It isn't boring but it feels too short. There could easily be space for chapter 8, for example. And due to the shortness of the game girls don't get much sex scenes - about 2-3 each + ending.
Btw when you choose between Ada and Miranda near the end, their domimant scenes are identical (not similar but the same really). Only characters and their lingerie differ, identical poses and animations and that is really a shame!
To sum up, I rate it 4.4/5
But it's definitely better than current 3.6 rating, so I will give 5 stars.
Nevertheless the game is definitely worth trying!
