HDRI for Skydomes
I find that even with HDRI with sun and HDR support that often the sun isn't as strong as I would want for scenes with the sun light coming through, rather than making the skydome brighter, (which ruins the skydome), I just add anothe light to fake a stronger sun.

Fast one is to render without drawing the dome (if you use one) and put an high res picture as layer in PS/Gimp where the transparency is showing. Another one is to use a plane/curved plane/cylinder/backdrop with a picture on it.
