If you really want a good vn and don't mind sex not being the focus then you should try Japanese ones not 3d. Stuff like White Album 2, Muv Luv, danganronpa, Katawa Shoujo, Sharin No Kuni etc. Some of these stories are unforgettable and will stay with you for the rest of your life.
