Oh God.
Let's divide most renpy games in two types here, for a gross oversimplification:
Either your game is a HCG grabber, or it's an actual game.
If you're going to make an actual game, then sure - use stats, work mechanics, sandbox mechanics, but make the story and plot and dialogue and mechanics have meaning and actual decent interaction.
And if you're going to make an HCG grabber, then make it an HCG grabber - no need to dull my mind with boring dialogue and stupid mechanics other than just a basic interface to pick the render I find to be the hottest.
This is meant to be an HCG grabber. Unfortunately, it's one of the worst HCG grabbers I've ever seen. The dialogue barely interests me (some quips during sex were fine at times), but the true horror is the interface. Everything that "goes back" usually throws you back to your bedroom. It's obscenely annoying to walk through the map and raise your stats. You got a girl on tuesday that you wanted to hang out with? Sorry you need more kindness! Where you get kindness? Oh, this other girl that shows up every other day in a rooftop. What's that, you accidentally clicked Shibuya instead of Academy? Back to the bedroom you go! Repeat this with zero dialogue changes until you finally get to the H-scene, with zero buildup or story towards it at all!
Like, really? It's like I'm playing cookie clicker and rewarded with a HCG after X clicks. This was thoroughly UNenjoyable. Nothing of value is added by any of the mechanics to the game other than blueballing you into waiting for the next HScene.
It's a shame because the dialogue in the h-scenes is actually fairly decent and, despite other comments, I rather did enjoy the renders. But damn it dude, the gameflow/mechanics are mindnumbingly bad.
