Hello everyone! Been a member on this site for a while now but somehow didn't notice there was an introduction sub-forum. Better late than never, eh? We have a saying in Finland "mitä hitaammin tippuu, sen parempaa tulee." which roughly translates to "the slower something takes, the better it becomes.". Inspired by coffee I believe.
Background and hobbies
I have an educational background and work as a software developer, but my interests and hobbies have always been video games and writing/reading stories. Anything fantasy related is what I usually read. Currently reading the side-stories of the Malazan Book of the Fallen series (Currently on the second collected tales of Bauchelain and Korbal Broach).
For someone who likes video games, I actually play very "few" games. My big love is for anything related to Elder Scrolls, or any game From Software comes up with. I've been obsessed with the robust combat system and the satisfying reward loop of their games since Demon's Souls came out 2010 on PS3.
Adult game development journey
Almost three years ago (beginning of 2022) I began writing, for fun really, on a bit of an office predicament visual novel story that I published for free in Itch. The game was Jessica's Plight. My personal kink when it comes to porn is BDSM and bondage, and self-bondage, so I drew a lot of inspiration from that when creating Jessica's Plight (and my other games, more on those later).
People seemed to like it, and as the Finnish saying goes "nälkä kasvaa syödessä" (translates to "you become more hungry as you eat"), I started on my second project. This time I even teamed by with a fantastic Daz3D artist, Synthetic Rush (
With the story completed for Animus Non Grata, I found myself without a project to work on again. In February this year, I began working on my current project, Taru's Infernal Pledge. This game finally combines my love for fantasy stories, with the lessons learned from my two previous games. I've even tried to experiment with a proper combat system in this game that doesn't rely on randomness, inspired by the classic game 'mastermind'. The game has placeholder art (generated using AI tools), but a fantastic digital artist ( tacinky
However, something changed in May this year. This hobby was taking a lot of time, and I really wanted to compensate Synthetic Rush for his effort with Animus Non Grata. However, I promised myself that my adult video game development hobby would be a 0€ budget thing... So, we discussed things and now all my games have switch from free to paid versions, with free demos available.
At the same time, in May this year, I began working on a remaster for Jessica's Plight with more content and better graphics. This "remastered" versions was the first version of Jessica's Plight that I did not release for free on itch. I even managed to create a Steam release from the Itch sales! Boosted by the confidence gained from seeing a successful Itch launch, we put up Animus Non Grata on Steam as well. We're still working on adding animations to the game, but other than that, the game is fully completed. We're aiming for an early december 2024 release.
So that pretty much wraps up the past 3 years. Currently finalizing the Animus Non Grata release, and working on adding more content to Taru's Infernal Pledge! You can pretty clearly see art created by a noob (me) in Jessica's Plight, compared to actual artist like Synthetic Rush in Animus Non Grata and tacinky in Taru's Infernal Pledge's new artstyle that is still unreleased!
Cheers,
FlimsyLegs
