RPGM - Grolokk [v0.65] [gacorman70]

Grolokk is an interesting spin on RPGM turn based adult game where you play a lowly goblin scouring for dominance through building a harem. I came into this game thinking it was a NTR primary game, but had had not really NTR but just sharing your harem to bypass some of the tasks for certain quests. So if you're primary playing this game for NTR content, then it's not really worth a play just for that.

The best thing about this game are the comedy and wittiness of the writing. It's fun writing that doesn't take itself too serious and gave me lot's of chuckles as I was playing this. The easter eggs that refer to video games and anime in the game were also pretty cool that made that game feel that hit of nostalgia. There were a reasonable enough of content that keep me entertained but not to the point where it keep my lips licking for even more.

Some of my personal critiques are regarding the inconsistency of art styles where I believe the creator is still updating the art, heading into a good direction. Some of the quests progression were really confused that left me dumb founded for a long period of time that resulted me to consulting the internet for help, a more thorough hint system or hint system in game would help regarding this.

Albeit if you just want a silly game that surrounds itself with beautiful 2d women and idiotic goblins with humorous adult content. This game will be right up your ally.

First off let me say, the content in this game is worthy of a 5/5. The art is incredible and the dialogue is great, the characters are all likeable and gacorman does an incredible job capturing the aesthetic of the pulp fantasy sword and sorcery of Conan and Elric. With the only drawback being RPGM combat, which for some people wont be a drawback at all.

Unfortunately, the game appears to have an abysmal development time. Chapter 1 in its entirety was released in 2019 and in the 5 years since chapter 2 has yet to finish. I believe the dev commented that chapter 1 took 800 hours to create which is no small feat especially for a solo developer. But at the current pace the game (last 2 years were spent on one quest) the game looks like it will be in limbo forever or abandoned entirely. Which is a huge shame.

At the moment of writing this, the game is unfinished, so this review will be mostly based off of potential and current content (everything before the underworks content).

This game is one of the best NSFW games I have ever played, the writing is really good, although it could do with some proofreading for some spelling issues (other than the intended goblin language shenanigans)

The artwork is quite good, with a rewarding amount of it sprinkled in throughout the game.

Although this game is an RPG, I found the battles not too hard. Personally I like that, as I'm not overly fond of being challenged in games on this site.

Overall, this game is excellent. It might be a bit short now, but I'm hopeful that will change in the future. I'm very interested in seeing how the game develops and will definitely come back to play once it has updated a bit more.

A game that has a good plot and a different yet enticing art.

Fun play, just to accomplish the quests set out. Was completely immersed in it for hours before I noticed I wasn't playing it for the porn but just to see grolokk succeed in his quirky, humourus and goblin way.

Having items hidden that you have to click around for is nostalgic to me as an old school RPG player (early pokemon games loved doing this) but I'm sure it's not to everyone's liking
Cons
Having an unwinnable battle that gets a member of your party killed feels fairly abrupt and confusing. If the plot needs to be advanced by losing, I'd rather there just not be a battle than have an unlimited horde of enemies to fight through.
It felt bad to explore too much because there was nothing available at areas you weren't supposed to be at, like the secret area in the grass with the horny statue. It felt really cool to find that area only for it to have nothing to interact with until I came back an hour later for the quest. Even something as simple as a chest with some gold or new weapons and armor would make finding places preemptively feel like it was worth the time to look around.

It took about 5 hours to explore every nook and cranny of what the game has to offer thus far and for the most part I really enjoyed my time with it. I tried a much earlier version of this game 3 years ago and I'm glad to see this game still being developed. A note to the dev, please let us help that poor girl in the grass ape den, she's been hanging there for three years without a way to help her lol. Overall, I think anyone that likes a grittier fantasy setting made more light hearted by goofy idiots for protagonists will have a lot of fun with this game.

It has comedy and style, but that's all it has going for it.

It's missing scene skips, combat animation skips, and the ability to speed up combat. This should all have a toggle. I don't need to see the 20 second milking scene every time and I don't need to see the healing/fireball/bash/etc. thing every time I use that skill. Really, all RPGM games need to implement these conveniences if there is a combat focus.

The lack of content is surprising to me seeing that this game has been on for nearly 4 years now, but I can only surmise it's because there seems to be a focus on revamping.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. The artwork is very good. A few more animations and this game will be a 5.

The netorare is optional, but I like some of it in this game.

This is a funny game that takes a new and more light hearted spin on a bunch of classic tropes. The writing carries the game, and the art style is fairly unique while paying homage imo to some classic thematics. It's worth a spin just for the comedic relief, especially a very specific interaction that i won't spoil.

I hope the dev succeeds in finishing this game. Kudos.

I love the Art style! Very different vibe from what you'd find typically in the Adult game market right now.
The entire premise of conquering people and building a harem just as a lowly goblin is exciting as well. Can't wait to see more of this game.

I am an old Leisure Suit Larry fan, especially Love for Sail.
But i prefer a fantasy theme which Grolokk is.
I love a pervert goblin protagonist with a big sausage having his way with pretty girls.

Another great example of how to make a good RPGMaker game.

I'd rate it 4* but compared to 95% of what's available, it deserves a fifth star.

The real rating I'd give this game is a 3.5 so I rounded up to 4. Its closer to 4 than 3 anyway.

This is a pretty standard fantasy rpg with a goblin MC twist. It's a rather enjoyable variation where you're also collecting your goblin harem on this adventure.

First of all the artwork is excellent and it's clear to see that a ton of work went into it in every aspect. The gameplay is decent, nothing innovative but it does a good enough job of the typical rpg combat.

The writing is okay. The humor didn't really do it for me personally (or rather it got old for me pretty quick). My only major gripe is the pacing of women joining the harem. It's a bit too quick, one simple quest and their yours. Although they also don't obey you until later. It's a little.... ehh.

I'm worried that the scope of this game is a little too big given the amount of effort that goes into the artwork. A harem game plus a fleshed out rpg which is all hand drawn and animated. That's a ton of work for one person. Which is why I'm worried that either the rpg system or the harem system will end up rather hollow. Or development will take 10 years.

The game is pretty poor on content with a long item hunt. From quest items, to provisions for the camp, because of which you have to check EVERY box or barrel. Very tedious. I was enough for 6 hours. The author's style is rather "special" but there is no problem with that. The problem with the template concept: do the quest - the girl for some reason agrees to go to our harem - we then beg her for a couple of scenes, if she agrees. The end. No interesting situations, seduction or you know what goblins are famous for in the media and what you expect from a game about GOBLINS. Just lazy camp events following the same pattern. And okay, I'm willing to believe there are girls who are perverts, but when all women are lustful whores I'm starting to think the author just hates women. The most telling moment mother and daughter who initially scold us dirty, but after the quest suddenly make a 180 degree turn, change their minds and want to join in, while the mother must understand what she is condemning her daughter. But nobody cares. Because of everything in the universe created by the author is not believable. If the game is not a goblin but a human bandit in the game would not have changed at all.

Once you get past the fact that MC is a goblin, this is one of the best harem assembling games.
The art style is very appealing and the potential is through the roof.

First RPGM game I've played that doesn't suck*. Quite the opposite, in fact. Still a shame it's in the RPGM engine or that the RPGM engine generally sucks so bad. But the laugh-out-loud writing, fantastic art and effort to create actual gameplay more than make up for it. This is shaping up to be one of the best adult games out there in any format. This sort of gameplay would not work out at all in RenPy either, so I can definitely understand choosing RPGM for the game, having just one lone dev and zero budget. Still, I think the game engine is the reason why Patreon numbers for the title are so unfairly low. Many have been burned by bad RPGM games in the past so won't take a minute to give one the time of day. Glad I did, though with these eye-catching screenshots, I basically had to download it.

I blazed through all of the content in less than a day and this game has now gone to the top of my list of updates to watch out for. Well done.

Only other complaint: WTF on the dark tan-colored dialogue text? Heavy readability issues with that. Either make the text white or bright yellow, always with a shade box.

*(Yes, I've played Mad Father and I've also played blah blah blah, and also that other porn game in RPGM that you recommend. Still didn't like em).

Pretty cool game. Standard RPGM gameplay, turn-based combat. The art is wonderful and the story is engaging. It's actually quite funny at times too.

The only real downside is that there's not a lot of interactions you can do with the slave girl you bring to your camp. Also it seems like the art is being updated somehow, I'm not sure what the dev is doing exactly but it means it's just going to take longer to get a decent amount of content.

I would recommend cheacking out this game but just know that it is very much not done.

I personally love the story so far and would like to see it progress; I know the developer is working very hard to make this into a great game and I can honestly see this rising to the top.

The premise for the game is good, the delivery however is not.
I agree the game is very much n development but the beginning portion of the game is not put together well by any stretch of the imagination.
I understand the money is in providing the "next' content for Patrons and there is no $$ in cleaning up the code, which describes %90 of these Goblin/Orc games.

Quick test; If "Save files" are offered with the game download, this usually means the game is so bugged you'll need them to get through.
I personally will never play with another person's save file.

Absolutely fantastic art, with some standard, but enjoyable rpgm gameplay. Dialogues are competently written, giving a distinct personality to each character. A little lean on the plot, but I actually think it works in the game's favor. Overall 9/10, great potential. Needs buttholes.

The story is a hybrid of classic sword'n'sorcery pulp and the "play as a goblin raping everyone" genre of porno games. I'm not super into either of those per se.

What makes this game special however is that it combines both of those concepts into a whacky fantasy world and subverts them, and I fucking love it.

This is one of a handful of porno games where the humour actually works. Unlike other f95 games that feature comedy, it doesn't superimpose bad jokes over porno tropes to make them edgy/cool/cute. It does the opposite of that - lampooning the tropes as they play out within the story. When a character jokes that a recently eaten warrior babe has an "eaten" disorder, it's not supposed to be edgy masculine banter. It's a stupid, gross comment, and that is precisely why it's funny.

The story complements the porno and not vice versa, which imo is the right approach. Nevertheless, it is interesting in it's own right and left me wanting to find out what happens next, a big achievement all by itself in the world of porn games/vns. The best thing about it though is that you play with the characters, not as them. The barely competent goblin warlord who for the most part succeeds despite himself is not a tabula rasa for the player's "choices" or "paths". He does his own thing and you the player tag along for the fun ride. Even the harem girls have a degree of personality because their relationship to the PC isn't determined by any branching "paths". The lack of substantial player input means the dev can write the kind of story they like. The results are superior to extensive roleplay -based narratives.

It should go without saying at this point that the writing is excellent.

Art is awesome and hawt. The babes are drawn in glorious sword'n'sorcery style - curves, creases and contours struggling to wrest free of scanty garb. There is no place for soft, suburban, saturday morning impressionism here. This is a Gorean parody world of manly men, womanly women, and goblinny goblins, all brought to life in bold lines and gawdy colours. Also, there are hand-drawn animations! Not a lot of them at the moment but the dev has indicated they intend to do more in the future (though given the low level of support that could take a while).

Gameplay is.... enjoyable??!!? Yup, believe it or not this RPGM porno game has enjoyable gameplay. And it's because the difficulty is more than reasonable, the lore and locations are properly fleshed out and there are hidden encounters/events that are worth discovering. The most notable of the latter being an anime intro/theme that triggers when you go to a certain location and... play it and find out for yourself.

I'd rate this 5/5 even without the explicit lewd stuff, and that's coming from me, the "what's the dl size to fap scene ratio" guy. It's a shame it's not more popular (especially patron-wise) because this is easily one of the best f95 games.
