VN - Ren'Py - Guilty Pleasure [v0.43] [Quonix]

Guilty Pleasure (0.19 v) is a good game to fap to, not the best to get immersed in. The main reason being that the story goes way too fast for it to be believable, and though the characters have some personality and development, they end up all behaving as sluts rather easily. There aren't many choices to make and most of them didn't feel very impactful either. The good side of this is that there are very few scenes that don't matter or don't have something relevant to the story happening in them.

Render quality is really high as well, which is an important aspect to a game like this. Same goes for animations, even though sex scenes are usually rather short and have few animations those have very good quality. There are a couple songs but they do get a bit repetitive after a while. And, even though it's not a long game so far, I found no bugs in it.

So, all in all, a decent game worth the time if you're into good renders, animations and/or incest. And you can brush up under the rug how quickly everything happens. Also, as a small note, every update brings in very little content, so it usually is worthwhile to skip some of them.

Mid. Renders are okay but nothing to really look at. Story is bland, plays into tropes, and I skipped most of it (I usually read and try to get engrossed). Very few choices. Animations are basic. Not worth it tbh.

Whenever I play a game with an incest tag, I can already tell the developer doesn't have any siblings so he/she just projects their fantasy of a what a taboo relationship would look like through their game. There are some games where the incest/family relationships are totally believable but sadly this ain't one of them.

To begin with, the story is way too linear with not even a single subplot that I could find except for the one girl the protagonist has to tutor which is meh. The rendering and character models are average too. Plus the sex scenes are way too short with one single animation . But the biggest downside of this game is it's character writing. Idk if the developer wanted to go a comedic route which I really doubt that considering there's hardly any comedic moment, it's just the ridiculousness of some scenes.

Let's start with the protagonist, the more the story goes on the dumber he gets and only thinks with his dick like most other adult games but this is on another level. On top of that, things are way too easy for him. There's no build up, no sense of challenge, no progression like nothing that makes sense. This makes the story really boring as time goes on. One moment a problem arises like him getting caught fucking his younger sister, another moment it gets resolved like nothing happened. This is totally how the whole story goes...Everyone : sees them fucking - they say wtf is going on - then they go with 'but we aren't making babies, we just fuckin' - Everyone : 'ah that makes total sense' like what?? The conversation between the characters are just way too unnatural and unbelievable. There's a weird aunt who just seems totally fine seeing his nephew and niece getting lit. As for his mom and sisters, they don't seem to have any depth and are kinda dumb except lily who wants to see mc fuck their family, as she believes that will bring them closer

The final verdict, I will only recommend this game to those people who are really into incest and don't mind playing through a game with shallow depth and unnatural character interactions. If you just wanna see the protagonist fuck his sisters and mom then go ahead, but even then he's clapping only one of his sisters as of this update.

Usually when I see a dev with a game two years in production, only two hours of content, and a patreon making $2200 a month I would run the other way as fast as fuckin possible.

I'm glad I took the brief time to play this out. There aren't any huge typos, the writing is actually decent (though lacking nuance or clever wit), and the women have realistic boobs. Also no one thus far has pubes, which is a massive bonus for me. There's significant action with one sister, one accidental poke-n-cum with the other, and tons of tits from the mom and aunt.

Honestly the only downside right now is the lack of any real meat. There are only maybe half a dozen choices to be made, and even if I weren't using the mod it would still be obvious which ones to pick. And the super slow progress also annoys me, particularly when the dev is making so much money. LIke I said, nine out of ten times this means content will be milked as much as possible.

In any case, it was a super worthwhile two hours and it didn't leave me feeling blue balled. Recommend definitely.

The script at the beginning was amazing. Truly. MC is mature and a decent bro.
Yet after being on the thumb of Lilly, he became dumb, dependent, dishonorable and naive that as the supposed man of the house, much worse, older than Lilly, has lost all his authority and respect.
Basically he became a harem protagonist.

Here I thought the main focus would be those 3 closest to him.
You cant even have a decent Visual Novel feature of making actual choices of refusing something or someone.

It almost seem more like a Kinetic Novel storytelling than a VN.

Animations were amazing though.
But later animations will disappoint you.

Game is being rushed, sadly.

Good renders and great story.
The relationships actually feel taboo, something many incest games lack.
The story has a good pace and keeps the player interested. I felt no need to skip to the sex scenes as the story and buildup is so enjoyable.
With each update its getting better it seems, looking forward to more!

the storyline with his M.. is not too fast or too long which is very interesting. The S...... are just right and the A.... is sassy . Great idea, can't wait to see more.
Maybe the ability to choose age of the protagonist would be cool.

Guilty Pleasure is somewhat of an odd game. It's more or less your typical family themed game with a very pretty single mom who looks like she's in her mid-20s, then there's an equally pretty older sister (who is not a bitch for a change and is actually close to the MC) and a truly attractive younger sister (who is of the adventurous variety). So it's more or less a standard setting. Only with much more sympathetic siblings and no real family drama.

The character models are really good. You won't find comical proportions or horse appendages in this game. The animations are also pretty good. You also don't have to wait very long for action between the MC and the younger sister Lilly. The game tries to explain that with the help of drugs, i.e. a pill a female friend gives Lilly at a party which raises the libido and works more or less like an aphrodisiac. And after the party and the incident Lilly and the MC discover that they don't want to stop what started at the party and so they keep going. With very little soul searching.

So if you want a - more or less - fun game with quite a bit of action, even pretty early, Guilty Pleasure could be something you'll enjoy quite a bit. The mother and to a lesser degree the older sister are the slow burn characters though, so the action is mostly with the younger sister and then a female side character (a cute redhead) who is also of the extremely thirsty variety.

Where this game may disappoint (depending on what your preference is) is in the story department. The plot is borderline nonsensical and things progress a bit too quickly.

Then there's a ridiculous scene in a car where the MC and the older sister have "accidental" sex for the first time, while the mother is driving and the younger sister Lilly is sitting in the passenger seat, happy her plan worked. You see, Lilly is of the harem enabler variety who wants the MC to have sex with the older sister and the mother as well, since she believes that will let them all get much closer as a family unit. And so she has a few plans...

So the older sister has to sit on the lap of the MC in the backseat of the car, because they are going on a vacation and the many suitcases block one of the backseats, there's no space for four people in the car....
Then the car hits a bumpy road and the MC "accidentally" penetrates his older sister sitting on his lap and even comes inside her. And she - of course - enjoys it, even if she is somewhat conflicted about it all. But then again not really... you have to accept it and just roll with it or else the game will certainly annoy you. And no, the mom driving the car is totally oblivious about everything and doesn't notice a thing - she is however a bit suspicious about Lilly and the MC, so she's not completely clueless.

I mean, as a whacky comedy it kind of works, but the whole thing really is bonkers at times.

A bit later in the story the somewhat unorthodox aunt is introduced who is also 100% ok with everything (she also finds out about the unique relationship the sisters and the MC have) and even has a few schemes of her own and yes, the MC will most certainly have an encounter of the very close kind with her in the not too distant future. So the aunt is yet another harem enabler, thus we have two of them in the game so far.

So what does it mean? If you want at least semi-realistic characters Guilty Pleasure won't have them. But if you can accept that everything progresses pretty fast and that the plot is quite silly you can still have some good fun here. Especially since the love interests are really attractive and the renders pretty good.

However, the game is quite short, despite it's release 16 already (as of July 2022). One reason for that may be that the dev made the effort to more or less create a new render for each line of dialogue.

I think this is quite impressive, the characters emote, their facial expressions are pretty great and realistic, and you can usually always see how they feel. This is the first game I have played where there are so many renders for dialogue scenes. The downside is that development is certainly very time consuming, resulting in a short game with short updates.

The camera angles chosen are also pretty good, certainly much better than in many other games. The MC is fully visible and the composition of the renders is almost like that in a tv show, in dialogue scenes the angle switches between characters for example, sometimes using typical over the shoulder shots like you'd have in a movie or show. I liked that a lot, even if it means the game is quite short (maybe 3 hours or so).

What I didn't like that much is the almost complete absence of choices. However, it's not really all that much of an issue so far since I would guess that the MC - until now - is not doing anything most players wouldn't want him to do. So far there are only three characters with any intimate interactions, the two sisters and the female side character. And none of them are obnoxious or stupid or characters most players would ever want to avoid. But it's still not a very interactive experience and it's mostly a kinetic novel. If you want branching paths or meaningful choices... Guilty Pleasure won't have either.

The animations, while good, are somewhat short, there are zero choices during the scenes and there usually is very little or even no build-up, i.e. you usually jump straight into sex without any foreplay etc. So it lacks erotic tension.
And the dialogue in those scenes is also pretty lackluster, other VNs do a better job here. On the plus side there are no forced kinks (so far), which could also be a negative if you want kinks in your game. This game has none. Everything is vanilla and wholesome. I do prefer that though and see it as a big positive, but you may not. So just be aware that the sex is of the standard vanilla variety. If you want other things as well Guilty Pleasure won't have them.

Also on the plus side is that there's no grind, no extremely long teasing. Once the MC and the younger sister realize they both want the same things you won't have to endure the standard sexual progression route employed by so many other VNs. It goes from 0-100 pretty fast. Which is actually a lot more realistic, since most people overcome with lust don't usually follow some checklist of things to do in tedious order....

So why only three stars? Well, I'd rather give it 3.5 stars. The game lacks a certain depth for more, the story is very predictable and shallow, it's also never fully explained why the younger sister is so super eager to hook up the MC with the entire family. On the plus side there is very little drama or conflict here. But then again, a really good story usually needs at least some conflict or drama. Guilty Pleasure is a feel good game, but once in a while it's nice to play something that has no worldending apocalyptic threat or intense character drama.
Even when the older sister finds out the truth about the MC and the younger sister around the midpoint of the current build the conflict is resolved pretty quickly without too much drama and the action doesn't stop (only for a very short time) and the older sister comes around pretty quickly too after that.

I didn't like the music all that much. It doesn't have much variety and one of the few tracks used is not really all that great, but this is of course highly subjective and you can always mute the music and play your own tracks in the background. So it's a very minor nitpick.

If you like natural looking women who look like (very pretty) actual human beings then Guilty Pleasure will make you happy. And the somewhat bustier (not over the top busty though) characters are even affected by gravity, to a certain degree.

You just need to know what you're getting into here... don't expect a deep story, don't expect deep characters, don't expect any meaningful interactivity or paths (as of now). Everything is rather shallow - but if you are ok with all that Guilty Pleasure is absolutely worth playing, well, it's mostly reading. It has prettier characters than many other games and so far none of the characters in the story are obnoxious. Even the MC is alright, he is a bit conflicted at first (well, who wouldn't be...) but after a heart to heart talk with his best buddy he gains a lot of confidence and accepts what he wants and just goes for it.

So as a pretty short game Guilty Pleasure is certainly worth your time if you are up for some shallow unrealistic fun, just know what to expect. You will not play this VN for its story.

First of all this a 'family' type game and is really good in comparison to most other games in same genre in terms of model quality, graphics and dynamic funny story line. Those who don't have the same fetish just don't play instead of giving poor reviews.

The story line is fast and also kinky. I also very much liked the character Lily for her ability to plan and achieve certain future goals. I recommend the dev to continue the storyline is such a way that her intellect is shown.

Animations are fast and realistic too. And hope it improves more to expand more "position" options in future. "bounce" can be made more realistic I guess incorporating more graphics & detail to model in certain areas.

Suggestions:
As for more control in the progress of story in the future there should be preg content for atleast Racheal and Tasha as they r settled financially and MC should be able to choose where to finish. thus determining story progress. There should be discussions about Morning after pills in future just like the game "Luke's way", its kinky. There is no need to show "bumps" for the models though except at final ending

I'd want to give this at least a four, but that would be overrating it. First of all, I hate it when the most perverted and slutty character in a game is a female one. And slutty aunt is the most cliche thing in these games, come on. These slutty women do the job of corrupting others for the mc; then what's the point? I just can't stand slutty characters, let alone blood relatives. Renders are very good and sex scenes are well-made, but the story and characters should attract attention first in my opinion. Otherwise I may just go ahead and watch porn. No difference whatsoever. A game should utilize the art of seduction and corruption wisely. That's where we see the real talent.

Some games on this site transport you to another world. You get sucked into a wild and exciting story, with interesting characters who have compelling motivations. You laugh, you get sad, you feel a desire to keep playing to see what happens next.

And then some games are limp and lifeless, going through the motions. Half the dialogue is characters saying what they're currently doing or about to do. Boring scenes like driving from A to B are never cut, because then there would be nothing left to show. Guilty Pleasures is one of these games.

Also having no choices for the first few scenes for critical moments, but then having choices for how specifically you say "yes" to a question is just obnoxious. Have a full on VN, or let us make impactful choices. Doing the Fallout 4 "yes" or "yes (sarcastically)" makes no one happy.

Tasha's hot and there's some interesting music later on. That's about it for the positives.

This review is for Guilty Pleasure v0.42 and I've been playing this game since v0.5 was released.

Summary: 3.5/5 - Guilty Pleasure is a high-quality kinetic novel with a frequent update cadence that unfortunately still moves at a slow pace due to the very small amount of new content each update. The game is definitely worth playing, but I would recommend playing only every 3rd or 4th update due to the small size of individual updates.

Story: 4/5 - The plot is just a stereotypical and really shallow incest story with 2 sisters, mom, and aunt, plus a few other non-family love-interests for the MC. The story starts out with the MC and his sister being pushed into a situation where they have sex, then evolves into the MC and his sister scheming to get the MC to fuck the other family members. It's got a light-hearted vibe and doesn't try to be overly dramatic or fantastical to keep the player's interest. However, it works OK for a porn game.

Writing: 5/5 - The English is very well-written. There's no barrage of distracting spelling and grammar errors so commonly found in adult VNs, plus there's some good banter and humor.

Renders: 5/5 - Very high-quality renders. Some of the most beautiful female models I've seen in an adult game, yet also very natural-looking.

Animations: 5/5 - Smooth high-framerate and high-resolution animations making some of the hottest (albeit vanilla) sex scene fragments you'll see in a visual/kinetic novel.

Gameplay: 3/5 - There really isn't any. I counted and there are 13 choices in the entire game, all of them are in the first 25% of the game and don't appear to have any significant impact. Players just watch the story unfold and that's the way it was designed. If you're looking for a "gaming experience", you need to look elsewhere. I would rate the gameplay aspect a 5/5 if all of the choices were removed, and the game was turned into a proper kinetic novel. It really seems like the developer originally intended to create a visual novel where player choices affect the story, but later just dropped the idea entirely, and never went back and removed the useless choices.

Quality of Lewd Content: 3/5 - The lewd content is hot because of the beautiful models, high-quality renders, and great animations, but the sex itself is short, a too vanilla, and mostly only focused on the MC's pleasure. The sex scenes have little to no foreplay, and the passion and intimacy of the sex is not improving as relationships evolve. The sex mostly seems really unsatisfying for the women in the scenes. Basically, the MC is a two-pump chump. I originally thought this was intentional to reflect the MC's lack of sexual experience, but the sex has now evolved to threesomes and the scenes are still super short and lack passion.

Amount of Content: 4/5 - The game has a lot of content now, but individual updates are very small. Each update has only 5 to 10 minutes of play time. Updates are frequent and very consistent and they continue the storyline instead of creating tangents; however, the update size is much smaller than players expect. Update size won't be an issue after the game is complete, but players that are following the development should keep it in mind.

Other: I believe the developer is cutting scenes short in order to meet the monthly development schedule. Getting content out every single month is the best way to fit into monthly subscription models, but it really makes for unsatisfying releases and in this game, really unsatisfying scenes that are affecting the overall quality of the game. The small updates also generate a lot of overhead that could be eliminated and used to created better scenes in less-frequent updates.

Updates may be short, but at least regular and fairly frequent. And this is already a huge plus, compared with other games! On top of that, the narration is quite smooth and not overloaded with words. It reads very easily. The scenes are also top notch. They are consistent, with no abrupt start or end, and with animation. Maybe there is not enough of some kind of kink, but otherwise, it is quite decent.
In general, the author knows what he is doing.

Very underrated AVN. Yes the updates are short, but they are good updates and are consistent. Dirty talk could be a little better, but it's pretty good as is. If you care about realistic bouncing boobs and body movements IMO there is no one better on the animations.

Game is short and sweet. I finished it(as of 0.15) and I wanted more. The story and characters are far from anything I'd consider good, but they are good enough.
Perhaps a metaphor: This game is like junk food but it's junk food when you're really hungry and the staff don't fuck up your order for once. You know that it is very far from the best out there, but it hits all the right notes and it hits them hard enough that the result is quite satisfying.

The game uses nearly one different CG for every line of dialogue. This is very uneconomical as other reviews will point out, but I actually kinda like it. It feels like it highlights the visual aspect of a visual novel more strongly than otherwise. Things have more motion than most games, despite only having a few animations that are limited to sex scenes.

There is music that is good enough that I didn't mute it, renders are good, animations(where present) are good, characters have little depth but it is just enough for the incest tag to feel more than a word slapped on the metaphorical box.
While short it doesn't waste your time at all and there is no issue with obnoxious ESL spelling and grammar.

Looking at the patch notes I'd say this game stands out as being very short for the time it's been in development for and when I tune in for future updates, I know I'll have to wait for at least four or five at the minimum for it to feel worth it. While a negative aspect of the game, I don't see it as an issue unless you're paying for the game and I'd wager most here are not.

It is far from the games I'd consider my favorites but for 3 and a half to 4 hours of your time, I would consider it worth it. Just don't expect much beyond good porn.

As of .14, the progress of the story is still pretty shallow. What is there is incredibly hot, though. Superbly hot LIs and hot (if sometimes ridiculous) situations.

Story-wise: while the initial "mistakes" made by characters which spur on some of the developments themselves stretch belief, it feels like there is the potential for there to be enough meat on the bone hidden under the surface for things to make sense. I'm looking forward to see how things develop, and if they end up fleshed out, I don't see why my 4 star couldn't become a 5.

This game keeps getting better. Its starting to catch its rhythm and moving quiet nicely now. The developer just needs to keep the updates coming and it will catch on. Hopefully it keeps getting some more attention and people will start supporting it. I haven't yet, but another timely update and I will. Good Luck Dev.

This game has one glaring issue, being the length. Usually I don't care about how long it is, but I know WHY it's so short and that doesn't excuse it, in fact it makes it worse. Are you ready for the Criss Angel Mindfreak? EVERY SINGLE LINE OF DIALOG HAS A UNIQUE IMAGE RENDERED FOR IT. There is no reason for that. This isn't a movie, this is barely a game. The only choices in the game don't seem to matter, and were probably added to avoid the "Kinetic Novel" tag. All that being said it's not terrible, just reading it is kinda boring to be frank. I tried this out forever ago and to see this is how far it's come in a year is not that promising.

The story is centered around MC, he has a graduation party and him and his friends invite girls over with every intention of getting laid. But his NOTSister is invited and neither one of them inteds on backing out because... Reasons? Can I just say, I have no idea how this would have sounded if it wasn't MC's ACTUAL family. They talk out loud about taboo and stuff, seriously can we as a society move past incest as a fetish? Jeez... But I digress. MC and Lily, the sister, go to the party and they all play a game to see who ends up sleeping next to who and MC and Lily sleep together and have sex. The rest of the story is Lily being horny and wanting it more, MC doesn't want people to find out, and his other sister finding out but secretly wanting it because they are just rich rednecks. I can't say anymore because that's all there is.

The Characters are Lily, younger sister that didn't want to be a virgin going to college and now just wants sex. Rachel the responsible older sister that also just wants sex but represses it because she's just pent up. Tasha, the mom with no content and no personality, she just leaves to and from work. The last character is Maya a girl you tutor that just wants sex. A good portion of the content is about Maya but as soon as they almost hint at anything about Lily and Maya having conflict, it disappears.

The banner image is a complete misrepresentation about what is in this game or what will even be in this before the end of the year. If you noticed something in the last paragraph, all the female characters just want sex none of it matters with who. There's no relationship building it's all just superficial and boring. Sure, the renders look nice, it's not the default RenPy UI, and it seems to be written by someone that actually speaks english. But boring writing is boring. It's not necessarily BAD, but none of it is good.

My advice to the Dev, if he reads this far before getting mad at me for a bad rating, write out more of the damn story and reuse images. If two characters are talking, one or two images each is enough to put the illusion in our head that it's a back and forth. Especially if the scene in whichever room is only a short conversation. Or, if you're going to keep doing this one image per line, either use some of that patreon money for a render farm or more computers because this game is coming up on TWO YEARS with barely an hour long story and you even have a character that visits JUST TO RECAP WHAT LITTLE HAS HAPPENED. That is just plain filler. And I don't understand what these "Acts" are. If it's set for every label, we as the reader don't need to know that.

Bottom line, looks pretty, but it's short and boring.
