Even in Early Access (v0.4 EA 2.0 at time of review) this game has an incredible number of details small and large that make for fun and charming play. I love the protagonist's design and her customization options. Great attention being paid to the protag's facial animations and body movement throughout the whole game add more life to the character. Wide variety of scenes already with different monsters in a convenient gallery no less.
Gameplay is easy to pick up and has a decent amount of depth and difficulty. More equipment, spells, and items in the future can really open doors for a true roguelike experience but it's well on it's way already. Movement and menu navigation does feel kind of clunky, especially when attacking/moving diagonally. It's easy to break objects on accident instead of selecting them too but nothing unforgivable. Minor spoiler but once I dropped a vial of water on a lava tile to turn it into a walkable tile I knew the dev was peak. I'd really love to see more unique randomly generated rooms ala Enter the Gungeon with traps, NPCs, mini quests, and more. The vision is already partially alive with the two rest floors, one of which even has an amazing secret scene.
The dev has done a great job providing updates so far and I'm excited to see what comes next. This project has incredible potential but the existing vision, aesthetic, and execution already make for a worthwhile game.
