Their purpose is to lure your allies into the lava and kill themselves.
If you don't have any allies OR you are already aware of how they work, the Lava Sirens are pretty much a non entity as long as you have bottles of water on hand to make a path.

My problem with this game so far is primarily the themeing. So there's this girl, dungeon crawling, fighting monsters, but she can also snap her fingers and have sex with them? And they just allow this because?... Wouldn't it make more sense to make her some kind of succubus, or witch, or something? I mean, unless you get lucky with one of the rings, there's usually not a strong practical reason to bang any of the monsters, other than the pigs and the minotaur blacksmith. I guess it works as a combat stun when you're fighting multiple enemies, but most of the time it just gives you one free attack. Why not, instead of recruiting monsters at neutral zones, have the MC use sex to recruit monsters on the fly? Like charm, but it isn't completely useless.
Like somebody42 said, they're horny as hell. But also... I mean let's be honest: payments proccessors don't like games that have rape/non-consentual sex. I can't speak to floppystack's views on what they want to see in erotic fiction, but it wouldn't be surprising to me if this game was themed with this premise because having rape/non-consensual sex from said monsters would make it more likely they'd get removed from various services under the influence of payment processors.
You're right, a succubus, witch, or something would make a lot more sense. But also due to the above, then everything would have to be succubi, witches, and what not, so I think we're all willing to suspend our disbelief just a bit more to accomodate more variety.

All great points, with the way things are going across the US and EU right now and how stupid politicians/companies are being, it makes sense for a creator to err on the side of caution with these things, cant fault anyone for wanting to make a cool smut game and still pay their bills yknow?
On another note, there isnt much of a story at all right now but from my own headcanon, with what we CAN see so far in game, the MC is clearly supposed to be a chubby/Thick nerd or gamer girl, and now that we can go back throught the TV in my mind she bought some old unknown game cart from a shady dealer that turns out to be cursed and sucks her into this retro vidya world.
Then looking at the animations, some of them she seems surprised or shocked, others shes downright horny and has "come hither" expressions, considering you can play from start-finish without any sexual content, i like to think she realizes she can get down n dirty with some monsterfucking and get herself the "high" score...or something like that anyways.
I mean, really, the worst thing that can happen to her (so far) is she gets booted back to reality, either normally, stuffed, or megastuffed with cum, which she really doesnt seem to mind.
I am of similar thought, aldoe MC can freely enter and leave through the TV... so I don't think it's a curse, especially given she can invite certain companions (like the kobold) to her private bedroom.

I like to give the benefit of the doubt since the dev is still developing the game and a lot of the content is probably temporary, making it hard to guess what's the real intention. Like with the hunger stat, which got removed later or the costumes currently in game not being earnable through different mechanics yet (like special chests, bosses, buying in some specific shop with money or whatever).

I've wrote (with AI), my silly fanfic story.
In my version Chloe is the game developer and gets sucked into her own game, she doesn't have a complete recollection of all the features and mechanics she developed, after the first game over she has to basically reverse engineer the game code and design documents that are suddenly encrypted, depending how much progress she's achieved some of the code and documents gets decompiled, which will lead her to go in again "out of curiosity" and of course hornyness that she does not admit. There's various "Endings" and each ending reveals a memory fragment about what's really going on.
That's the premise and general synopsis, I've developed this around the beginning of version 0.3. And I've changed things and developed other things that are not part of the game. But in general it follows the same progression of the game as version 0.4.
Yeah, there's still a lot to be fleshed out yet. The game has a very different tone now compared to version 0.2.
Floppy has mentioned that probably that he will add some form of "personalities" to choose from to address some of these things in the future.
And the Floors that are currently playable, not one is really in a "finished" state yet.

What has been made so far looks promising. Her thighs look so fucking good. Her tits look so fucking good. Her face is cute and her hair has an adorably nerdy look to it. The gameplay though...someone more accustomed to how roguelikes actually function is better off than I explaining how it feels. Enemies in the later stages feel like insurmountable walls, especially when there are multiple of them in a room. God forbid you fight more than one Serpent at a time. Double attacks AND poison? Come on man. I had to use debug mode to get past them.

Just a heads up that the HFR mod makes at least chloe's asshole flicker in and out of existence, at least in the mimic threesome scene.
Also, the relative lack of tit handling and even ass handling is quite criminal, I think there's one spank out of all the scenes.
Plus, it would be good to see action in the bathroom, not just the titjob in neutral 2 but the real world bathroom, more blowjobs, spitroasts, anal, and more positions for all the monsters(wolfman half and full nelson in anal, vaginal and oral 69? yes please), foursomes, multiple sizes of slime, perhaps also location based scenes, like glorywalls(let's just say a magic camera lets her see whats happening from the neck down), gloryholes(again magic camera) or brothels(with optional glorywall) using the succubi and incubi, multiple ways to trigger mimics would also be nice, like being stunned or charmed too close to one that hasn't been triggered yet, a chance to get fucked on opening it, but where the plot can be foiled with the use of a detection tome, while still giving you the option to play along, where upon moving to open the chest, it moves to the scene, and an enemy local to the floor either getting your attention, like a goblin, vampire, kobold, fishman or slime, and alternatively a larger enemy, obviously something you don't want sneaking up on you, and once your attention is off the mimic, it simply bundles chloe into itself, hopefully with a scene that can be scrubbed through(so you can enjoy the trap being sprung at any point in time from any angle without having to replay the scene from the gallery) and stuffs her, working up to all holes, and thrusting very deeply(it should go without saying, but the mimic would become transparent in a large cone facing the camera to let you see).
Now really getting wild, something with the pigman trader and the vending machine in the neutral zones, you can 'earn' credit for the vending machines, wherein a vending machine mimic appears, takes chloe into itself and teleports to any other floor, waiting for any monster to appear and pay, at which point it presents chloe, either glorywall style or it just lets her out to be used, after which the mimic collects her, optionally removing cum, and teleports elsewhere.
Now that all that's off my chest I can at least say I asked.

Yep, it does. Unless animation itself is edited for it to run on higher framerates I doubt it's fixable with simple "interpolation" switch what I'm using (there's 5 options and only Nearest which is a default one works as intended, applies to whole Chloe body at makes her run at low framerate). It's an experimental feature anyway which is not meant to work flawlessly and not intended by the dev.
Kinda the same thing about Breast Customization which dev implemented, but it breaks physics/animations and this bug persist in affected save data which is bad.
