Trust me, as a long time player of Harem Hotel and someone who answers questions in the Harem Hotel game thread, the out of date versions of the mod break the game 100% of the time.
You just haven't hit one of the breaking points yet.
This mod was abandoned by the original dev that made it, and is no longer safe to use.

The mod was fine when Lain was working on it, it was flawless. But now it's just a rotting carcass of a mod and should be avoided at all cost.
A shame really because the mod was really good, when it worked.

Would not say mod was abandoned by Lain, as far as i know, she have some personal issues, hence why not active anymore and we hope she will be back.

That's just hearsay... she ghost everyone for years just to pop up again, updates he mod then ghosts again.
TBH we don't even know if she's still alive.

Agreed that is hearsay and we have no idea if is true or not, but either way, hope she is ok wherever she is and will be back.

I've yet to have an issue with JGNeon's mod, but I also haven't played recently nor very far into the game.

I think I have the JGNeon version... so far it worked flawless

Updated my compressed Android port of Harem Hotel with Lain/JGNeon's walkthrough mod to v0.18.2.

The previous version of my port had a save file load issue due to the version of Renpy being used at the time. That issue should now be resolved with this update.

Got some basic gestures loaded in: swipe up for save menu, swipe down to hide UI, swipe left to rollback and swipe right to skip. Save files are now stored in the Documents folder. This sometimes means that you may need to close and re-open the port after installing so the save folder is properly created.

Due to the size of this game, I've split it out so there are additional steps to install.

Install instructions:

1. Download zip file
2. Use an app like RAR to unzip the file. Standard browsers have issues with large zip files
3. Install the apk file from the zip file
4. Run the game once to load into the menu and then close the game. This will allow the port to set up the required folder in your Documents folder
5. Move the archive.rpa file from the zip file to Documents/Eonor/e.haremhotel/game
6. Restart the game

If you do not read the instructions and ask for help because the install doesn't work, you will be laughed at and told to read the instructions.

Please let me know if you encounter any issues with the port and I'll see what I can do to get them sorted.

Edit 19/04/25: It appears the standard Android gui size means some text gets cut off every now and then. Fixed this but it will mean the text is a little small

I tried this and it doesn't work. I have game version 0.18.2 and installed the linked 0.18.2 version of the mod. But immediately when starting the game I get the same exception that Yog-Sothoth3812 pasted above.

I don't understand how this mod could work for someone else? Does it really?

Unlikely to ever happen, because Lain the developer of the mod disappeared after releasing version 17.2.
The only reason it is version 18.2 now is because someone else took a shot at updating it.
