Have yo tried using Lain's mod to install into the game? You don't even need to use any actual cheats with it but it tells you how to continue each friendship chapter with every girl available so far. That's pretty much as plain a hint system as you can get.

It should be mentioned though, that if you save the game with Lain's mod active, that save will essentially become dependent on it and you won't be able to reload it when the next update is released, at least until you also update the mod, which usually takes a bit longer.
At least, I think that's how it works. Someone who uses it will have to confirm this, but I'm sure I remember seeing it mentioned before.
