Yup, think about it like something similar to Alzheimer's, losing every memory that defines who you are. She's getting every fault and trait that defines her fixed. So in a way the "her" of today is dying.

It's more than her memory/personality being overridden. It's slowly being "fixed", like a fire slowly makes ash, Once it's done, it's not recoverable.
Also, I kind of find it funny that being aware a character isn't immortal suddenly makes her story sad. I never specified that she'll be dying soon, could be thousands of years haha.

Well one is like knowing we're all going to die one day, while the other is knowing how and why you're going to die. One is the uncertainty of normal life, while the other is the certainty of a foregone clonclusion. That being "we know X is going to die of Y".
If you were to die in 5 days, but didn't know it you'd be just carrying on with your normal life, but if somehow you know "I'm gonna die of this and it's inevitable" it's a very different situation.
