I think you're wrong on a couple of points there; firstly, who says she wasn't good for labour before? She couldn't cook, but she could clean and do laundry. The idea of keeping her a virgin to keep her value only really makes sense if they were planning to sell her, and I'd expect anyone willing to pay that much extra for a virgin is fairly likely to want to take her himself.
