Ren'Py - Harem of Ankhutep [v0.1] [AhaNubis]

This is an incredibly captivating VN even in 0.1. Its one of the extremely rare releases that I have on watch. The animations are incredible and there is no shortness of love put into them. Come 0.5, I would not be surprised if this rating board stays 4.5/5 nearing 1,000 votes.

It's amazing so far!

I usually turn off the music in adult games but here it fits so well and helps a lot with creating immersion! Not sure if I should call it voices, but the "voices" of the girls are very charming and give me an odd sense of comfort when paired with the music.

The character design is great, every girl that has been introduced so far stands out as very unique and sexy. So far my favorite character is Raa and I hope to see much more of her in the future!

This has potential to be up there with the best games on here, super excited to see how this turns out.

Demo1 review.

Good so far, but it's a demo, I'm not sure how well it will translate to a larger game.

+ Cool setting
+ Likeable MC and NPCs
+ Good looking characters
+ Nice fitting music
+ The game is mostly dialogue, but I haven't got the urge to skip so far.

Issues I have:
- It seems very linear so far. You get some choices and those change the affection of NPCs, but that's about it in the demo, I found only one story-related sex scene and I think it's unmissable not related to any choices you make.
- There isn't really any gameplay involved other than reading text and sometimes reacting to what NPCs say. No combat, no skills, no minigames, no items or inventory, no money or economy, no day cycle, nothing like that, you simply go from one scene to the next. You can still have a game with just dialogue and some choices if the story is good, but the game might benefit from at least some simple form of gameplay every now and then as a break from dialogue and to get some variety.

Review of Demo1

A fairly short demo that prepares the players and future fans of Harem of Ankhutep of what’s to come; a slightly wholesome and colorful adventure in a world inspired by ancient Egypt mythology with a focus on monster girls.
In spite of the three stars I am giving, I really enjoyed this preview, even if you can finish it in less than 40 minutes, 20 if you are a fast reader, it’s basically a taste of what’s to come, and so far it’s quite interesting.

It follows the story not of a fantasy hero but an artisan, arriving in a new city after abandoning his destroyed hometown with nothing but a sculpture to try to find a new job and home in this lively world.

The plot so far is straightforward and simple, the renders are charming even if some are reused for background. All the characters models I have seen are uniquely interesting, from the main LIs to random workers in the background, they transmit such vibrant personalities.
Choices are just selecting the best option to get hearts so you can get a scene and bond better with your LI, speaking of which, there is only one sex scene so far in the story.
The others in the preview are animations you can find in the gallery, therefore don’t expect any unreasonable rapid sex scene. Although if you are in dire need of sex, you can just go and check the gallery (which contains many cute images) but beware the other sex scenes present don’t have dialogues or descriptions.
The scenes that are present although, are quite great in the animations department, in fact the VN has animated scenes even for context without sex, such as the crocodile girl staring hungrily at fishes in the market. They are nice touches.

The writing is entertaining, the four main LIs so far have all distinct personalities and designs. They are unmistakable different from one another, and they embrace the monster girl style. Another delightful detail is the sound effect for text. Characters that speak will emit sounds similar Banjo’s Kazooie’s character’s voices, it’s a very nice touch.

I have no real complaints here aside from the length, so far it’s a demo with not that much content. It has a clear premise but so far it’s the beginning, and there are no decisive choices or paths currently to unveil (As the description says). In the title there is a clear goal of getting an mythological inspired Harem to hang out wholesomely, I don’t know how many more girls will be or if these are all the girls, juggling too many LIs is always a problem in the harem genre. But the story is somewhat different and the setting unusual. Giving it five stars or four feels exaggerated at the moment despite the encouraging start, where it stand so far it it’s averagely promising VN and I can see it being an hit in the future.

I will definitely return and maybe review it much later in development. For now I recommend it if you want a taste of what’s to come, but if you want more just wait a couple of updates.

The game has great animations / models / scenes. I'm a big fan of how they're rendered. The story is intriguing so far and I'm looking forward to seeing it expanded upon. The dialogue actually reads like the developer is thinking about it (which is more than I can say for most games I tend to play on this website...).

I am currently reviewing the Demo 1 release of the game, and so far, I am inclined to give it a high rating. It has the potential to become a great game.

The story is simple enough to follow yet engaging. The renders, animations, and sounds all look good. The models look unique, too, and it seems like a lot of effort went into crafting them.

I look forward to future releases!

Awesome start. Great smooth animations. The lighting in scenes looks good, which is impressive in a setting without electric lighting. Characters are likeable. Models are great. Looking forard to more.

Very promising game for now :
- characters are likeable, dialogue characterize them well enough with little time and don't overdo it
- lore seems simple but with a solid base, kinda engaging and making me wanna know more about gods and Queen, power structure and economic dynamics not ellabored but promising for a demo
- graphics and sex scenes really are mastered, polished and well-timed, bloody hell it's a blast

Overall I really will look forward this game and the dev other works !
