Heavily debating between a 2 and a 3 because there isn't much there currently but at the same time I like the concept its working with. With the 0.5 update fixing the pathing issues with the wolf and such, im more willing to bump it up to 3 because its a lot easier to do now despite its flaws.
You play as some busty rat girl whose truck broke down in the middle of bum fuck nowhere but luckily you broke down near some shack that also had a little personal farm space. Your goal is to basically speedrun farming to make money to buy the stuff you need to fix up your truck and get out of there. The challenge comes from the fact that you need to keep the generator fueled up so you can have power at night while also keeping an ear out for the howl of futa Malo (the wolf) prowling the forest to hide from her.
The gameplay loop is basically buying whatever seeds you prefer and trying to plant and grow them as fast as possible every day to maximize your profits to save up money while also buying some gasoline so you dont run out. There's a few locations for laterns to be placed in order to help light up the area around the shack if you choose to do some farming at night while its safe. At night there is a tentacle monster under the bed that hates the light but occasionally Malo will run up to your window to which you need to close the blinds and turn off the light until she leaves.
As of 0.5 it looks like the pathing was fixed so the wolf no longer gets stuck on the steps or the farm lands and actually operates properly now, making the game way easier to do as you're not locked indoors and can tempt fate by night farming. Plus the monster under the bed was given a longer time frame so it feels less stressful keeping the lights off until the wolf leaves and you can turn everything back on. Although being impatient might give you a bit of a jump scare because if you leave the shack too early before the wolf despawns she'll turn around and immediately start running for you and if you're not paying attention then get fucked, literally. It also seems the high pitched frequency from the generator was removed so thats also a nice improvement.
All that said this game isn't without its faults. I have a lot of gripes with it so far, but it is early on so heres hoping it shapes up well. The controls are pretty clunky and the inventory fucking sucks. The lack of a reticle to aim with can often leave you just mashing E to pick up an item because the hitboxes are kinda wonky at times. Digging and watering takes forever just to do one plant at a time that depending on what you're growing you genuinely can't take care of 3 separate plots of land (they're all 2x2 spots of soil for 4 plant spaces in total) because of these limitations, things grow way faster than you can plant and care for them. In a way its a good thing because you can just rush through two separate plots and rotate them as you plant and water nonstop for a whole days. Not to mention only having 4 inventory slots and no actual backpack/inventory to store things, and items don't stack, makes you do this back and forth of running to boxes to open them up and grab seeds, run to the farm to dig soil, plant a seed, water it, refill can, dig another spot, plant seed, water it, refill can, and then repeat the process by grabbing 2 more seeds. Being able to stack seeds at the very least would be a nice quality of life change. Some shelves where you can store tools would also be nice, just because at the end of the run you'll probably have a bunch of boxes and shit just scattered about on the ground.
The car parts themselves could probably stand to be made more expensive down the line if they wanted to make this a long term game with possibly more enemies and obstacles to worry about. As of right now its pretty easy (especially with the pathing update) to earn more than enough money by day 2 or 3 and leave. I like the concept of whats there but it needs a lot more time to cook. I'll be looking forward to what it has to offer. I could see this game having a save system involved and implementing things like tool upgrades, more lantern positions, possibly some sort of way to defend yourself and the ability to explore the local area or something, who knows. It has a promising future so we'll see how it shapes up.
