There are alternative starts where you can start as a homeless character and as a noble. The noble start has perks associated with it that keeps you from failing the game by losing too much rep. If you start with the apartment, there is a roommate you can date, You can also date and fuck the boss at the diner. The apartment is on the second floor and you can walk around town. There is also a metro to move between your home and the hobo area. You also turn in your skill points at the hospital for new perks.
