I'm trying to combine the idea of a slave trainer game with the idea of a kingdom management game, where the slave training aspect is based off of the old chinese imperial harem structure. This would be my first time ever making a game (if I actually get that far) and I'm struggling to come up with the actual gameplay loop that would tie all my ideas together.
The original lightning in a bottle moment was like, what if that mobile game Game of Sultans was as horny and harem drama-y as they make it out to be in the ads? I know that I want pregnancy to be a fully fleshed out mechanic, and ideally also important to game progression, so I was thinking of stealing a simplified version of the aging and inheritance mechanics from Crusader Kings 3. This would mean that part of the core gameplay loop would be raising your heirs with good stats/traits, setting up the best one to take over for you when you die, and then playing on as your heir after you're dead.
Of course this is primarily supposed to be an adult game, so I don't really want the kingdom management aspects to be overly complicated or overly difficult. I know that I want the main focus to be on the harem with things like breaking in new concubines, promoting your favorites to higher tiers, assigning them to different tasks around the palace, ect. This is the part I have the most solid grasp on, taking big inspiration from Free Cities and Lilith's throne, as well as the actual history of the chinese imperial harems.
I guess the part I'm having trouble with is how to incorporate the kingdom management aspect without taking away from the sexy parts. I want this game to be fun to play, but not so overly complicated that you need to worry about getting a game over while you're trying to get your rocks off.
I'm still in the 'everything is fuzzy but the idea's in there somewhere' phase so any idea goes. Throw your thoughts at the wall and see what sticks! I'd really appreciate any input at all, even if it's a different direction than I'm currently considering. Thanks in advanced to anyone who replies! <3
