RPGM Henteria Chronicles Ch. 3: The Peacekeepers [P2 Update 22] [N_taii]

Now that HC3 is getting more hardcore and the stakes are rising I've been thoroughly enjoying the main plot with Rose. Dropping in to write some constructive (harsh) feedback I'd like to leave if there's an HC4:

+ Keep doing the multiple POVs. I typically play out a quest first with partial POV and get super juicy emotions of distrust, fear, curiosity, and so on. Then I replay it with Omniscient. Fantastic workflow, keep doing that.
+ Scenes are hot. Fantastic stuff.
+ Making Leto a guard was a great idea. No more weak scrawny arms MC. Fantastic. Excuse to walk around town and also get in danger. Brilliant.
+ Honestly don't miss doing puzzles or quests from HC1/HC2. It's always been pretty much a VN and that's fine.
- Triple Triad kinda average. Wouldn't miss it. Don't hate that it's in the game. Hopefully wasn't a pain or time consuming to implement.
- The side characters of HC2 were more believable and less convoluted for me. I understand the desire to not retread and do the same thing again, but I think the characters Lily and Jazon fell really flat and I hope to avoid some repeat issues with them in HC4 (if there will be one).

I get not wanting to repeat a family bond like HC2, but I think it's been long enough to bring something like back for HC4, then we get immediate stakes. Or something at the level of family bonds that's easy to understand and also high stakes... maybe they can be an adventuring party. Or the only two people of a certain affinity. Maybe MC has a brother that is also getting cucked. Stuff like this.

tl;dr: I think there needs to be stronger ties for side characters in HC4 than there were in HC3. At this point I'm only invested in Rose x Leto and the other characters aren't really being NTR'd super well. They're just kinda having sex without meaningful stakes or guilt? If HC4's MC can't have a bond with all the side characters, that's totally fine and they can have their own conflicts/boyfriends, which worked better in HC2.

100% agree. Rose is the only character that is betraying Leto. The only way I see the side characters betraying him is by participating in/allowing Rose's betrayal. Which I'm hoping starts happening at some point. Agree on the side NTR plots being better than side characters being interested in MC.

One thing I noticed is that everyone's opinions are completely different from each other, which is interesting. The only consensus is that Lily is a failure, which I think is the only thing N_Taii should take into consideration for future games, at least for now.

I'm a broken record at this point but removing the side characters would probably solve the issue with whether or not the overall NTR feels effective. Using Lily as the example, N_Taii has been extremely inconsistent with her writing. First she was the BDSM character and then she was the classwar character when she was interacting with nobles for a bit, and then she was the "I'll do whatever I need to get ahead including getting rid of this slutty coworker by being a bigger slut" character, and then she was addicted to Worlds of Warcraft, and then she needed the slutty former coworker's help... she's woefully inconsistent. Being involved with the main plot would have forced her to be more consistent.

There's a constant thread throughout the game that Lily is in love with Leto, but she can't do anything about it because Rose is her friend. On top of that there's also Cyanna who is into Leto at the start so Lily's feelings for Leto are three people deep. It would have been a lot easier to work her feelings for Leto into the main plot with she were involved if Rose's storyline more often. Rose's public disguise could have been more involved with Lily and when she naturally begins to separate from Leto when riding the duke begins to become more important it would let Lily move in on Leto a little bit adding more jealousy, guilt, and betrayal into the game. Lily's involvement in the main story of the game would also force consistency into her development because she'd have to fit into the main plot instead of having a plot built around her.

HC4 needs to be more consistent and I think having the main women all be part of the primary cast would help with that.

You know what? I’ve come to a depressing realization: every single female character in this saga has, in one way or another, stabbed Leto right in the trust. Not always with knives, but with lies, excuses, and a whole lot of bullshit, for me, that’s betrayal — or at least, my perspective on what betrayal is. .

Lily – Miss “I don’t need anyone’s help.” Except, oh wait, she does need help… just not from Leto. No, she’d rather take it from some creep who literally started out blackmailing her and exploiting her naivety. And instead of telling the truth, or even asking Leto for help (y’know, like a normal human), she just smiles and lies through her teeth every. single. time.

Haylen – Oh boy, where do I start. Leto warns her over and over: “Jazon’s a snake, don’t trust him.” And what does she do? She takes the snake, feeds it, pets it, and then says: “Well actually, maybe I’ll have his kids.” Right to Leto’s face. Then lies about it, saying nothing happened except that little kiss at the ball. And then the cherry on top? She says she’ll “scold” Jazon. Yeah, sure. If by scolding she means riding him like a horse.

Cyanna – Zero trust in Leto. Since Ulrod started blackmailing her, it’s been one big parade of lies. “Everything’s fine, don’t worry about me.” Meanwhile she’s busy breaking Leto and Rose’s relationship apart. Constantly daydreaming about what happens if she ends up pregnant with Ulrod’s kid. And here’s the kicker: Ulrod doesn’t even need to blackmail her anymore, but she still acts like she owes him. Even after catching him screwing one of the guard girls who already had a boyfriend. And she still goes to Leto saying Ulrod is “necessary,” a shining beacon of leadership. Yeah, leadership my ass.

Rose – The queen of lies. She’s deceived Leto the most and still has the guts to throw shade at him about Cyanna. Meanwhile, she wouldn’t hesitate to jump on the first body she finds to quench her thirst. The beach update? Trash. The latest update? Worse. The maids change outfits, and she literally tells Leto she’s just using him because she has nothing better to do. And Meredith’s over there giggling like, “Oh yes, Rose totally made the outfits less indecent.” Please. After all she’s done, I dare someone to write the scene where she walks in on Leto with another girl and she isn't got crazy.

Secondary clowns corner:

• Alys: Ulrod’s sidekick. Didn’t say a word to Cyanna about what he did, just helped him drag her down and used Leto like a tool.
• Naevyr: Another liar. Leto’s been nothing but good to her, but nah, she won’t say a thing. Not her problem, I guess.
• Stenia: Leto thought she was a friend. She’s been lying non-stop about the Duke’s mansion, Rose, and herself.
• Meredith: Forever covering Rose’s ass under the excuse of “protecting her.”

And honestly? I could keep adding names to this hall of shame. At this point, betrayal isn’t a theme of the game — it’s the only language any of these characters speak.

The name “Casio” has several meanings and origins, but the most common and recognized is of Latin origin, derived from “Cassius”, which means “empty,” “hollow,” or “vain.” Basically, Cassio was, for me, pretty much exactly what the word says — “empty.”

The name Noa, of Hebrew origin, has several meanings, among them “rest,” “peace,” “comfort,” and “movement.” It can also be interpreted as “who gives rest” or “who brings comfort.” And basically, Noa was that peace the people of her village regained in Happy Ending.

The name Leto, of Greek origin, can mean several things, including “hidden,” “forgotten,” or “summer” in Russian. Honestly, I feel with all my heart that you’re hiding something from us about Leto XD.

You're only realizing that the women in the HC franchise are largely scumbags now, three games in?

The men may be the villains, but the women abandon their principals at the slightest hint of pressure. Rose is a princess, she quite literally has the perception of divine right the rule as the locus of power for the Peacekeepers. Rose has a fiery personality but she takes the easy way out every single time. For all her haughty nature and claims of royalty all she's good for is letting the duke go to town on her. I can't comment on the most recent update as the Steam version does not have it yet, but she has clearly shifted the duke's way of thinking after the events of the beach trip. We literally see her ready and willing to commit sexual assault on the beach house groundskeeper if the older woman hadn't immediately flipped roles and taken it willingly. For a moment in that scene Rose was willing to become a rapist. Last I saw she was becoming quite cynical and driven by her selfish impulses as well.

I'm really hoping N_Taii has gotten over his roadblock with properly punishing the women, because Rose absolutely fucking deserves it.

I wanted to say it in an ironic way, but I don’t think I pulled it off very well, since it’s pretty obvious that sooner or later every woman in any saga of the game ends up doing the same thing. I’d like to say I’d rescue Shanni, but well, if she were in a situation like any of the main or female characters, for plot and story reasons it’s obvious she would also fall into that same void of lust that all the women in the saga end up falling into sooner or later. Still, I feel like she could resist it a bit more.
Not that I like her or anything like that… not at all… it’s just your imagination, guys… or maybe it’s not XD.

I dunno, he tends to rely on deus ex machina when he writes himself into a corner. Happened with the cat god in HC1 and the fallen valkyrie in HC2. I legitimately don't see a way back for Rose at this point.

Nah. Cyanna was never dating Leto and she didn't simp for Ulrod. If anything it was the other way around, she wanted nothing to do with him, only gave in because she felt guilty, and he acted like a total loser whenever he was in her presence. Rose, on the other hand, was not only dating Leto but professes to be in love with him while riding as much duke dong as possible. T
