I have been playing these games for quite some time now, and i just gotta say they are interesting and immersive af.
But this will be my first time making my presence known to you all. Hello.

So, my story is like that I ain't able to use my computer rn for some reason and all the games I've played (of this genre) are on my Android phone. They are pretty damn cool and I just got in my head to try to create a game myself.
I know it ain't easy and I'm a NOOB but still, I wanna try it. Soon, I'll be able to use my PC and I was gonna try developing a new game.

But I don't know anything about this stuff about creating. So, this is why I'm here writing this stuff. Yall seem friendly enough and i thought perhaps some of you could give me some pointers about this stuff or maybe like show me the right way of things? And just one more thing, I wanna know rn is what's the deal with Patreon? What exactly is it? Im guessing, its kinda like a platform for the devs but what is it that Patreon really do in favor of devs?

So all in all, I just wanna understand the basics of all of this side of the world and perhaps become a resident citizen in the process.

Hey, welcome. Patreon is a platform where if your game is good enough, you can make a living out of making games thanks to crowdfunding initiative. Making games is a challenging and lengthy process. Before the Patreon, NSFW game makers hadn't even a place to sell the games, but not until recently the platforms like Steam who allowed porn games on their platform, the patreon still remains the main source of income to those who make this kind of stuff. Some argued that it's due to westerners to tend pirate games, and some are against the patreon saying it milks the patrons out of their money, it's no denying there're creators who exploit the goodwill of peoples, but the fact remains, without patreon, there wouldn't be this renaissance of western porn games.

Simply put, there are tons of unfinished games on patreon, but this type of funding motivates creators to pump out new content for a long time which I don't think is the bad thing in itself. This is what could be called "games as a service", but instead of cosmetics and useless stuff, people are "paying" for extra content in their own volition.

Keep in mind that after patreon, paypal and taxes cut, you'll end up with a way less of your total earned money depending on which country you live on. My last advice would be don't rush out your game. Make a decent demo at least a couple of hours long so the players can get a grasp on what kind of game you're making and get familiar with the engine you're going to use. People tend to forget these early 5 minutes builds some of creators dish out once they figure out how to make a render and message display.

Wow, fidless already took over I see, not much more to add. Thanks a plenty. Like that.^^

Ren'Py is definitely a good platform if you want to develop for Android too, and it's rather easy to get your hands dirty. Unity maybe, mostly for 3D, which is more demanding (especially lewd scenes are more simple to realise in 2D I'd say).
Of course there are more engines to choose from, guess every platform got some reference games, other devs may want to create similar quality. A talented dev, Nenad A, is using Visionaire Studio for his Willy D game. RPGM all-time-best favourite is still probably Malise and the Machine, also Coceter Chronicles. May think of simple frameworks too, like HTML and NW.js, for starters.
How about you start with modding games, especially Ren'Py ones? So you gotta learn the basics for the game engine anyway but got a functioning game to fiddle with already. Don't need to start from scratch at first.

As for Patreon, there are other possibilities too, like itch or ko-fi (think it is called like that) a.o., but big P was like the magnet for many creators for a while until they started to tighten up their rules on what is allowed and what is not.
Some devs prefer 2 or 3 options to offer to their supporters, depending on where they come from. Which is I guess a good idea. Makes you more flexible, and one dominating company is never something that should be trusted too much. They can change the rules of the game as they like, when they like. Basically the lession creators got thaught.

You'll find a ton of discussion in the dev and the general discussion sections of this forum, bet you know this already. Just start out slowely, and don't forget a good game needs art, a story, and interesting chars, to catch attention. Take your time, and keep us updated on progress when you are about to begin your endeavour.

Have fun with here us and great having you, Heavenly! :D
