High Numbers in Alerts

I have about 1321 Pages in my Alerts part in the Your Account sections, how do i remove the numebrs to where only the top most alert of page one is the only one there or only the first 20 post for it?

1321 pages? How is that possible? Do you "watch" every thread you enter?

btt.: Why you dont just click on "mark all as read"?

I watch whicever threads i might want to have a look at the post for every now and then if i need to, and i did click that, but it did not seem to lower the number of pages down, and the higher that is, the slower the pages loads on here
