Honestly— and I mean no disrespect but— porn games and illiteracy seem to go hand-in-hand. I mean it's not like there is some sort of qualifications or entry level test you have to pass, nor an english/language degree to be able to make one, lol. Also, I know many who make them don't even have English as their first language, so again I don't mean this to offend anyone, illiteracy is illiteracy so I don't use it here to tear anyone down. Not that I don't understand the term's connotations and whatnot. It's especially common when games are being translated to English. Regardless of original game language or original spoken language of the creators and/or authors. Even games in other languages besides English seem to have this problem. Even Japanese, as strict as the education system is there, as well as in China. And no matter how hot and popular, beloved or praised, no matter how high-budget and high-investment/high-effort a game is, there are always misspellings, typos, awkward phrasings, grammatical mistakes, run-on sentences, misuse of punctuation and many other crimes against language. LOL. It can sometimes be confusing, but mostly I just laugh at it. I do try to point out mistakes when I find them, in hopes they'll be fixed for others who play in the future, as I pretty much don't have time to play thru anything from start to finish more than once, and I don't make exceptions. I will definitely go back to certain scenes though that are high quality and— most importantly— steamy. But for some, it just gets to be so high in volume that it'd take the fun out of it and make it feel like homework or a job. I'd basically have to write a thesis on some of these games' mistakes. So I kinda just let it go after far enough in. And don't get me wrong, the games are still great; perfectly enjoyable. It's just like you can't have a porn game without the mistakes I mentioned. I do understand especially when they don't have English as their first language. The way people speak and write between the US and the UK also vary in many many ways, too. So I try to keep that in mind. Including other English-speaking countries besides those two. But like I said, this isn't something people are doing for scholastics or academics, nor am I an English professor. And even if I were, it wouldn't make a difference to me or to anyone else. So, I am at peace in regards to it.
I will say of the very little I've played of Hole House so far, it is probably one of the worst culprits when it comes to being illiterate. It's quite the offender, lmao.
But I'm most likely in the miniscule minority anyways when it comes to being a harsh critic towards this. It does seem like illiteracy is becoming more and more prevalent throughout the internet, wherever you look.
If anyone here keeps up on erotic anime, even within the last several years, I think you would have noticed the decline in translation quality. That's a sort of different subject, but erotic anime and erotic games are quite similar. They're just a different medium. Both the translations themselves as well as grammar mistakes and typos have become glaringly obvious these days, for me. One of the biggest translation teams did go on hiatus, I heard. That may have something to do with it. It just goes completely out of left field more often than not, placing subtitles for things not even remotely close to what is being said. It causes me to question whether or not AI or google translate was involved xD It can definitely make you laugh with how bad it gets. I was going to mention eromanga, but from what I've seen, it's been an issue for a VERY long time.
Anyway, I'm sure this is enough from me now.
Really disheartening to learn about the behind the scenes with this game and everything, though. There's a reason that greed is one of the seven deadly sins, after all. You can definitely see it here... I'd also even put it under gluttony and sloth too. Maybe envy a little bit? I mean, look at the review manipulations, and how taking over the project was handled.]
Okay that's really all this time haha.
