I've been a member for not to long now and I've noticed there's very little number of homosexual centered games, gay and lesbian. Now before anyone questions my sexuality, understand that I'm coming at this from the perspective of a straight man, okay? Anyway, I'm saying this because it seems to a very underrated genre in my opinion. Most dating sims to my knowledge have at least one gay option, some games have the main character turned into a sissy, or games that do have gay or lesbian content, you have to trudge through a number of a b/g scenes just to get to it. This is particularly apparent in visual novels and text-based games, especially ones made in ren'py and HTML, or in RPG Maker. One of my favorite genre of games is lesbian with a female protagonist. But what if say, that person is interested in gay shota with a male protagonist, or gay with a trap protagonist, or old/young lesbian with a female protagonist? I personally don't mind homosexuality given the recent boom for gay equality over the past few years, nor am I trying to be "Politically Correct" or a social justice warrior, I'm just saying there could have been room for more variety, right?

I'm just saying there could have been more gay focused games, not wanting. I was thinking maybe an "all guy" and "all girl" tags for gay sex would make more effective sorting options.

See though this is what I'm finding slightly confusing why do you care? Why would it matter to you if there were more gay focused games if you don't want to play them? Why would you want easier ways to sort gay games?
I'm not "questioning your sexuality" as you put it, I honestly don't care what you play, there's no shame in it.
I'll play any game that has a good story and art, gay, lesbian, straight, whatever, so-long as I think I'll enjoy it.
Anyway that said yeah I agree a separate tag/s to easily sort gay & lesbian focused games from those which have just a route or path would make things simpler, why don't you create a request thread in feature requests for it.

The gays can turn people off from your game while you could make more content you know your audience likes, variety for varietys sake isn't good idea for your game.
Making a game exclusively for 2% of the population is pretty niche, you can't expect a lot games like that.
Most lesbian porn is aimed at straight men anyway so it doesn't count. Games often have that content but it's kinda dull to watch 2 women masturbate with each others bodies.

The thread seems like flame bait but this part I agree with. Like pretty much every other site there is no proper way to distinguish between "peripheral mention" and "main focus". But your proposed solution seems too restrictive in practice especially for sexual orientation - does the tag apply if a pure homo playthrough is possible without skipping scenes but other paths include hetero content? Do we need a "pure hetero" tag to exclude things like two girls kissing during a threesome or fondling each others' breasts with the explicit purpose of servicing their harem master?

Next of course there is negligence which would further shrink the pool of results. Not sure how bad it is on this site since I don't use the limited tags in the first place but booru boards can't even keep on top of "female" and "futanari"/"dickgirl" tags let alone focus/exclusivity. On that note, which sex or orientation do traps, sissies, futa-with-balls, cuntboys or androgynous characters with their genitals hidden from view (and explicitly specifying anal penetration) count towards?

Well, this is a bit of a funny thread....but whatev, I have a couple of minutes to kill...So here's my take....

Not sure about exact percentages, but I would think most people are straight.
Now, I'm a straight guy and I'm not curious about gay sex (between guys), so, the way I see it:

_Straight sex involving hot chicks = well, HOT
-Lesbian Sex involving hot chicks = Still HOT, and yummy
-Futas..... tricky one = if they look like hot chicks not that different from a girl with a strap-on = kinda hot but not my fave
-Futas that look like guys in drag = Yuck, gross
-Gay sex (guys only) = yuck, gross, game will be deleted asap, large amounts of straight sex will be immediately viewed to wipe off the mental after taste lingering ghost-like in my brain

If most possible customers are straight men, and therefore similar to me, it seems logical that devs trying to make a living at this would stick to something that will appeal to most people, not a smaller market (if there aren't many games like that it might be possible to become a leader in that area.....but it certainly won't be me; if I make a game it will be about stuff I enjoy too)

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm from Canada and I'm a 'live and let live kinda guy' so I have absolutely nothing against homosexuals, or against the male body, and I'm not a homophobe (played sports all my life so I've seen a lot of naked guys, but whatev, a man's body does nothing for me.....doesn't gross me out, doesn't turn me on either)...
There is also nothing wrong with gay sex.....to each their own, man. Between consenting adults whatever goes, choose whatever lifestyle suits you. I really don't care and in fact I will defend your freedom to make your own choices. That's what we all deserve.

But, do I want to see gay guys having sex? Honest answer: Nope! I play these games (occasionally) to be turned on, not to see images that I find not to my taste.

But there are possibilities to make games with more than one route you could add bisexual and a gay route.
Gay sex would be avoidable then.
And the Game would be enjoyable for even more people then.
I’m bisexual guy and sometimes it’s kinda sad that there is still so much less content for guys or girls that like gay content in games. It’s 2019 still hoping to see more content for everyone to enjoy.

Besides the potential reservations the devs themselves might have as Niteowl already mentioned you are missing the opportunity cost of adding these gay scenes: if the game does not already have a system for optional content/alternate paths adding it takes considerable effort. Even if the system is in place more paths increase its complexity and the nature of the gay scenes also needs to be restricted a lot more: basically anything "accidental" in-the-moment, initiated by the NPC partner or otherwise beyond the player's immediate control seems like it would drive away more hetero players than attract gay ones. Finally given the status of many games here the potential risk of low-key homophobes trashing your reputation or withdrawing support on Patreon might be too threatening if the devs' livelihood depends on that income.

Note basically all of this applies equally to other content with low mass appeal or historical taboos: incest, NTR, heavy BDSM, watersports/scat, eroticised violence and the like are fairly regular points of contention. But even "innocent" things like female body hair, foot/armpit fetish, extremely fat/skinny women, small breasts and women displaying any kind of sexual agency without being full-on sluts get sidelined more often than not. Heck how rarely do you even get a proper cunnilingus scene compared to blowjobs which are virtually omnipresent?

Also, and this will definitely vary a lot from person to person, when considering my own interests I would rather have one game properly dedicated to those types of content than slog through a dozen generic hetero stairway setups for that one side character who's into whatever I'm after at the time.

But yeah, man, while I understand your point of view I was just trying to say that this kind of content could, potentially, drive away many straight guys....and it might not even attract that many homosexual guys because the scenes they like would be few and far between.
For devs trying to make a living out of producing these games it just doesn't seem logical to alienate a vast chunk of the player base just to add a few scenes.

I can see how bi-guys would like to see more games featuring a bit of everything, totally, but it does seem counter-productive to produce such games from the point of view of devs.

And how many percent of world population don't want gay stuff?
If 2% of fappers are gay, how many percent of fappers won't play a gay game?
That's the reason why game developers have to think carefully before they decide to bring a genre into the game to satisfy 2%.

but the people want what they know and find what they need already in straight porn, experimenting is a hard step.
