I was wonder if anyone knows of a way to take screenshots of characters only (character cutout), which would export it as a png (similar format) to allow for transparent background.

I don't think there's a tool or mod for that, what you can do is put the character with a background being an image with just colour, take the render and then use a third party software/website to erase the background and make the character cutout.
