Overview:
Honeypot is an interactive and highly immersive branching visual ren'py novel using hand drawn artwork, set in the near future starting in January 2025. The world is on a precipice, as old institutions and alliances crumble in the wake of a massive recession. Now, a new, mysterious third party candidate has just been sworn in as President of the United States, and the world awaits to see how America will respond to this crisis. Meanwhile, criminal gangs and underground organisations are flourishing as international organisations struggle to cope, and agents and spies are once again found swapping secrets and fighting deadly backstreet duels from Tangiers to Tokyo.

At the start of the game, you are an ordinary girl – you work in a coffee shop, have a boyfriend and a few close friends, and a normal, quiet life. A chance encounter is about to change all that however, and will unlock the door to a life of glamour, danger, and desire. You will be required to use your body and your mind to survive and flourish, and will have every opportunity to change the world around you as a result.

Will you stay loyal to your country and your friends? Will you be tempted by wealth or power? Or will you simply dive in headfirst and use this opportunity to satisfy your deepest and darkest desires?​

Development Diary 1: Honeypot - the vision

Hi everyone and welcome to the first ever Honeypot development diary. These will be released once a week from now every Monday, to give you all something to look forward to and brighten the start of your week. There will also be character previews, art sneak peaks, and lore updates posted throughout the week on various other days as well, so be sure to keep checking back in.

I wanted these dev diaries to be a chance to talk a little bit about the game development process, what I’m currently working on, and where things are headed over the coming weeks and months. I know from experience that it can be quite reassuring to know that the person on the other side is working hard and not just slacking off! I would love to hear any comments or questions as well that you might have, so please do leave those below and I’ll do my best to get back to you as soon as possible.

In this first dev diary, I wanted to talk a little bit about the vision behind Honeypot. As you will hopefully have gathered from the info box and welcome post, Honeypot is an adult espionage game set in the near future (2025), where you play as a female character caught up in this underground world through a chance encounter. The game will be structured as a visual novel (using the Ren’Py engine), although it is highly interactive and there will be many different pathways to explore through multiple playthroughs, depending on how you want to roleplay your agent.

When I started brainstorming for creating an adult game, I knew that there were several things I wanted to achieve. Sex absolutely had to be at the heart of the game (I see no point in an adult game where it takes an hour or two of gameplay to do anything more than mildly flirt with someone), but I also wanted the game to be about more than sex as well. I wanted there to be an exciting story with intrigue and mystery that keeps the player guessing. And I wanted interesting characters as well with complex and varied motives, who could also go down many different paths depending on the players choices. Finally, I knew that I wanted to make choices as open as possible to the player – to rely less on arbitrary statistics to force the player into ‘good’ or ‘bad’ routes, but instead allow them to make contextual choices that are influenced in turn by the choices they have made before.

A game set around espionage made perfect sense for this. Sex, violence, and high stakes are all integral to the genre, and it would also allow the game to move from one setting to the next, not being stuck in the same town or village with limited options. Just think of any James Bond movie. In the most recent one, Spectre, Bond travels to Mexico City, London, Rome, The Alps, Tangiers, and back to London all in the space of one film. My aim will be to have the main character be similarly well travelled by the end of the game, with trips already pencilled in in my rough plan to Italy, the Caribbean, and the Arabian Gulf. That said, the game will start in London, and that will remain a focal point the character will keep coming back to between missions.

I will set out much more about the structure of the game soon, but for now will say that I envisage the stakes rising throughout a series of different chapters, as the world around the agent slowly spirals into chaos. Your first mission will be a relatively low level sting involving principally the Italian mafia, but by the end of the game you may find yourself mingling with billionaire tycoons, evil geniuses, and perhaps even a world leader or two.

That’s all for now – I will be posting a preview of the main character including some artwork for the game on Wednesday, as well as further lore, art, and character updates over the weekend. Hi everyone, and welcome to the first character preview for Honeypot. Honeypot is an adult espionage thriller by Sinfall Studios, set for initial release in mid-late June. Today we will be meeting you! Or at least who you will be playing in game. In the spirit of maximum player choice, you will have a chance to name your character at the start of each game, so for now we’ll call her MC (main character) to avoid any confusion.

MC is twenty one years old, and until this point has lived a very normal life. She has a boyfriend (who you will get to meet later this week), a few close friends, and currently works as a waitress in a coffeeshop. Little does she know that her life is about to change for good. As she becomes more and more entangled within the world of espionage and secrets, she may discover a new, wilder side to her that until now had been laying dormant.

MC’s personality will be entirely dependent on the players choices. Will she be hardworking, loyal, and patriotic? Or will she be enticed by the prospects of power, money, and lust? There will be many opportunities throughout the game for her to make meaningful choices that affect her and her world around her. Her attitudes to sex, violence, drugs, morality, ideology, power, money, and friendship can all vary wildly from one game to the next, making her the perfect blank slate for you to shape as you wish.

For now, here are three of the thirteen different outfits you will be able to find MC in for the 0.1 launch (with many more of course to be implemented for subsequent launches). Development Diary 2: The world of Honeypot

Hello everyone – it’s Monday again, and that means of course it’s time for another dev diary. This time we’re going to delve a little deeper into the worldbuilding behind Honeypot. That might seem like an overly grandiose thing to tackle for the second topic of an adult game, but there is a good reason for this. As I see it, one of the main draws of any game – adult games included – is player agency and ability to influence the world within the game. Part of that is in character customisation (more on that another time) but the most rewarding aspect in my opinion is seeing how your choices affect the world in game. For this to really matter, there has to be a well thought out world for the player to inhabit.

We don’t have to go all George RR Martin here – I’m not saying I’m going to waste valuable time naming obscure politicians from opposition parties of countries we will never visit. But I do think it is worth building up an exciting world which will drive the story forward and can look very different at the end of each game depending on what has happened within it.

So, with that in mind, the world of Honeypot is our world, in a speculative future scenario set in 2025. In this world the last five years have not been kind to us. Lack of US global leadership, combined with a prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and a brutal recession on par with the great depression, have led to the crumbling of some international institutions (such as the EU), and the formation of some dangerous new ones. Primarily, this includes the Eurasian Pact, a formal military alliance between China, Russia, and Iran, which is now threatening NATO hegemony across the world. This scenario leaves us in a cold war which could spill over into World War Three at any time.

Within this world will be broad factions the player can interact with, such as MI6, NATO, the Eurasian Pact, the Italian Mafia, and many, many more. Your actions throughout the game can make friends or enemies out of these factions, and can lead you in quite different paths along the story. Perhaps you’ll choose to play a loyalist agent, who puts everything on the line for MI6 and is ruthless at targeting any enemies of her country. Or perhaps your agent will be more comfortable operating in the grey areas between espionage and criminal activity, and become more friendly towards various crime syndicates. Or perhaps your agent will sympathise more with the cause of the Eurasian Pact, or be caught up in some other, mysterious conspiracy that leads her to a world of secret societies and clandestine hackers…

Of course within these factions will be characters, and their motives within these factions will vary wildly. Some just want to expand their faction’s power, no matter the cost. Others may be working towards peace, or a new world order. Many may be at least partially motivated by their own gain, and you will encounter corruption, vice, and greed through all factions to some degree. Trying to suss out character motives and aligning yourself with the right ones will be part of the fun of Honeypot.

Development Diary 3: The Grand Plan

Hello again everyone – another week gone by, another dev diary to release. And this week, I wanted to talk about the plan going forward with Honeypot. I’ve been working on this game for around two months now, and have learned a lot already about what seems feasible as a work pattern going forward. Likewise, I have also done a lot of thinking about the overall story arc, and how I want the game to play out over the long term. With all that in mind, now seemed like a good time to explain how I envisage work and release schedules going forward for Honeypot.

Firstly, and most excitingly, 0.1 alpha release is fast approaching, and I am pleased to be able to say that it will be launched for all $10+ patrons on Saturday 27 June. I will be releasing the 0.1 beta one week after that for all $5+ patrons, and then there will be a general release for all $1+ patrons one-two weeks after that. Simultaneously, I will also release a free demo (which will be shorter than the 0.1 release, with only one sex scene) on 27 June which I hope will drum up support and interest through reddit, adult gaming forums etc etc.

From this point, I will update the game on a monthly basis in a similar pattern – releasing an alpha first for $10+ patrons, followed by a beta for $5+ patrons the following week, and then a final release for $1+ patrons between one or two weeks later. I will also keep updating the free demo version, although ensuring that it always lags far behind the official version so that you guys are getting your money’s worth.

Now, the game as a whole I plan on being formed of broad chapters. Each chapter could be seen a little bit like its own movie in a franchise, or a season of a television show, in that it will have its own mission arc, with unique characters, storylines, and a variety of outcomes depending on player choices. For example, Chapter One will be following MC’s entry into the world of espionage through a mission involving infiltrating the Italian Mafia. Following the conclusion of that mission, there will be another one which, whilst linked to the old one through a story that runs through the game, will involve new locations, characters, and opportunities. Each chapter will take between 4-8 months to complete depending on length, with a regular update each month progressing the chapter forward, and I anticipate there being around 8-10 chapters in total.

I hope this fits with people’s expectations – I would welcome any comments or questions. My aim here is to show the work being done through regular and timely updates, to keep up patron confidence and to allow you to enjoy new sections of the game as often as possible. I would also finish just by saying that I am making all of this whilst also working a regular 9-5 – if one day this Patreon takes off and I get enough support, I would be very glad to accelerate the time schedule further!

Damn how did this slipped under my radar. Was just lamenting the other day on a thread for another spy game how few porn spy games there are. Will be watching this. All the best!

Looks interesting, definitely worthy of keeping an eye on in these early stages. Reading the diaries it does strike me as similar to GGGB, both in style and in game mechanics. GGGB is my favourite game of all time, so that in itself would make this a very intriguing project.

On a sidenote; are the characters based on pornstars? Dr. Bennett looks like Tori Black, Molly reminds me of Keisha Grey, and the so far unknown brunette has similar looks to Eva Lovia. As for MC and the redhead, I'm less sure. MC - maybe Gabbie Carter or some iteration of Lana Rhoades? Redhead - someone out of Anya Olsen, Jillian Janson, Sidney Cole?

Looks interesting, definitely worthy of keeping an eye on in these early stages. Reading the diaries it does strike me as similar to GGGB, both in style and in game mechanics. GGGB is my favourite game of all time, so that in itself would make this a very intriguing project.

On a sidenote; are the characters based on pornstars? Dr. Bennett looks like Tori Black, Molly reminds me of Keisha Grey, and the so far unknown brunette has similar looks to Eva Lovia. As for MC and the redhead, I'm less sure. MC - maybe Gabbie Carter or some iteration of Lana Rhoades? Redhead - someone out of Anya Olsen, Jillian Janson, Sidney Cole?
Very good spot! I'm creating the art in the same way EvaKiss did for GGGB - that is, by tracing over photos rather than creating from scratch. It's far far quicker, and as I'm drawing, writing, and coding all by myself, it allows me to work at a reasonable pace.

So yes, the characters are all based on pornstars, in that you can use their photos as a base to get a consistent look for facial structures etc. I do try and at the very least alter skin tones or hair colour though so it's not too obvious. You're correct for Tori Black and Eva Lovia - I'll leave you guessing for now with the other ones ;)

Hm, well I think I'm stumped in that case. I thought that Molly was Keisha Grey for sure, but maybe I'm mixing her up with someone else. It definitely feels like I've seen that exact picture, though, so it should be obvious once I find out who it is. The redhead is also superfamiliar, especially the eyes and eyebrows, but I can't quite place her either... Any hint?
