How do I know which sites are direct download and which are torrent sites?

I'm sure this sort of question gets asked a lot, but I've searched around and can't find anything on it. I don't have a VPN, and because of that I can't really torrent at all (besides, I find it more inconvenient and more work than it's worth anyways). I only really use sites that offer direct downloads, and I'm not really sure how to tell the difference.

The other week I pirated Skyrim, and was sent a letter by my internet provider that if I continued to torrent that my internet would be disconnected, and I couldn't even tell that I WAS torrenting. It looked just like any other download.

Because of this, I've been wondering which sites are safe to download without a VPN. I know MEGA and UploadHaven are both pretty exclusively direct download sites, but I don't really know if other sites like AnonFiles, GoFile, WORKUPLOAD, or MediaFire are torrent sites or if they're direct download. Can anyone help?

On F95, torrent links are marked as such, when the link has the name of a website like MEGA, Pixeldrain, etc... it's a direct download.

Besides, I doubt you would be punished for DL porn games, unless they are illegal, like with underage characters.

Most of the time, you receive those letter if you pirate something from a big studio, like in your case Bethesda. I doubt they care about a small dev porn game. But, of course, it depends where you are from.

You should be able to tell if you have a torrent client running. You cant broadcast you're sharing a file without qbittorrent being up or some other client. Now you can set up chrome to automatically open your torrent client when you click on a magnetic link and begin download/sharing, but the program would still have to open as it wouldn't just work over chrome.

So check your chrome settings if you want to disable that, or uninstall your torrent client. Usually torrents are marked as such while DDL links direct you to a different website.
