Sorry if this is a noob/dumb question, but I was wondering how I'm meant to install updates for my games on windows. I know for android I just download the apk, run, and update. However, on windows I'm unsure if I should drag the updated game folder into my old versions folder, or whether theres a certain file with all my saves that lets me easily transfer, or something else?

Depends.
If it's Renpy then you don't need to worry about saves, you can just delete old game folder and replace it with the updated version, your saves will still be there. If it's RPGM then you need to first get your saves from the www/save folder and put them in the same location in the updated version of the game.:coffee:

Thank you!

For other games that don't use RPGM or Renpy is it a case by case basis or is there usually a general process?

If in doubt keep a copy of the game pre-update somewhere on your PC. If the game in question is excessively large you're probably fine to just copy the save folder. Although not all game updates are compatible with old saves so that may be an issue to consider as well.

Case by case, you never know when a dev decides to fiddle with the save process of an engine and so it may deviate from default.:coffee:
Also this:
not all game updates are compatible with old saves
Most games on here are in semi-permanent development state, so sometimes changes made by the dev will warrant restarting the entire game. But you know what you are gettin' into when you decide to play an unfinished game. :giggle::coffee:
