How do i use Cheat engine to modify games variables life gold?

This is my first post. Ive been trying to use Cheat engine to modify the gold variable in You'd Fight For Me, Lose For Me, Get X'd For Me!? [Golden Fever].
Ive been unsuccessful so far. Does anyone understand the nuances of this tool and is willing to share?

RPG Maker stores values as 2*x+1. So if you had 50 gold you would search for it as 101 in cheat engine. When you edit it you have to follow the same rules.

Ok lets say u have 100 gold open cheat engine and type this 100*2+1 click scan new walue got more gold or less gold 50 for example next write 50*2+1 click next scan do that few times and it should work
Dontforget to add *2+1 its important.
