How do you Balance playing the game vs. Enjoying yourself?

Just curious how others go about balancing the gameplay vs. the enjoyment of H-scenes. I often find myself conflicted especially with games with a good story/gameplay -- at times foregoing the enjoyment entirely just to play non h-routes. Then I've spent hours on an H game without participating in the H-part.

i enjoy the gameplay until it's too late at night or i have something to do, then i just pick a H scene to finish my run for the day and continue form there

I don't think it's necessary to do the enjoying yourself part when playing a game. The experience of playing a game is all about building up the excitement. The release is not mandatory imo and there are some better media for that part

If the story interests me, I don't even think about enjoying myself. I see the H scenes as a waste of time and want to continue with the story.

Whenever I play a game I'm essentially edging all the time, so I guess you edge to a point and then select the opportune moment (a situation that you particularly like) to finally crank it out.

To be honest I'm not an avid story watcher, I appreciate a good story but for me it's more about the scenario/situation that might be to varying degrees an important point or not.

It's like with baseball. You pick your spot, swing your bat, hope for contact and a satisfying homerun.
