How do you decide what to add to your personal collection?

While we know the internet is supposedly forever, that doesn't mean that all content isn't. And thinking about that, I have found that within a year or so, I've all of a sudden got several terabytes of stuff, thankfully, loosely organized by IP or the artist. Between this site and one or two others, plus my own scraping, I seem to keep growing instead of doing what my goal is, and that's to curate.

What is on your checklist to decide if you want to keep something long term in your personal archive? Does the artist or the characters from a particular IP immediately signal something in your brain that says, "I'll delete family photos to make room for this" (I know that's a bit of an exaggeration, I hope). Long form movies or short loops? 3D or 2D (handdrawn or AI)? Do you go back sometimes and wonder, "Why did I keep this?"

I have a few things for me to keep it long term and that is
1. Characters are important to me so if someone has a really good art style I enjoy and they draw my favorite character bam I will cop (bonus if it's related to a fetish I enjoy)
2. Similar to the first point but art style is important for me. I'm ok with 2d, 3d sprite so if I like it I will cop too.
3. Video it will depends. I'm mostly going for loop content since it small. I don't mind longer stuff but it's gonna be really good.

I tend to save most things that make my cock hard fast. I think I masturbate so much that some things don't automatically turn me on straight away, so whatever makes me get throbbing and drooling pre gets saved for future reuse.

Then at some point the folder gets over 5 or more GBs, so I start going over what is where and if it was indeed so good that needed keeping (sometimes somethings gets saved because was what made me go over the edge, and not because it was actually save worthy, only later with post-nut clarity that gets clear). So a few MBs maybe GBs end up being deleted, and only what really gets me going is kept.

And sometimes I just go "life sucks, I'm a fucking loser" and just delete it all for no good reason. Then regret doing it later when I remember some pics that can't be found on internet anymore.

It's hard to define why, probably it's just our animalistic instinct to keep what makes us feel good. Sometimes it can be the mere thought or memory in your mind of that hot girl you saw while at the supermaket, sometimes it needs to be more audio/visualy stimulant to work. I don't really know how to say why what is kept.

Must also have some relation to why people collect any type of stuff really, or why some people are really attached to some objects while others can go their entire life never keeping anything physical.

Brain is a weird chemical-juices producing organ. Makes you do weird stuff you yourself never quite understands why, just do.
