Are you looking for an alternative to video porn?
Do you enjoy the interactive nature of games more than video porn?
Are you just trying to get off? Does good gameplay matter or just porn?
Is there something more appealing about a porn game than other games?

Personally I enjoy a good bit of eye candy and animated stuff provides more interesting eye candy than the real world can. I still enjoy the real thing much better than any porn of course, but where porn is concerned I find games just have more interesting scenarios. The intrigue of discovering things as well has more appeal than video.
In most cases I look for a game that is fun to play with at least decent images.

Interactive buildup is certainly a common thing we have in porn games. Having agency in the direction of it.

I also like extensive dialogue and internal monologuing that usually only porn games provide. Mediums like comics, and especially video, can't afford as much.

If we're talking more character-driven sorts of games, then you can connect with the characters more instead of just... y'know thinking they look hot. Having that connection gives the actual sex stuff more weight, because you know more about the character than just how they act during sex. Games that are more about the story/enviroment and don't really try to be sexy about it are interesting because you can delve into much more vulgar subject matter than you could normally explore in media. But in general like others said on the thread, having some kind of interaction and/or buildup makes it more personal and controllable.

I enjoy adult games with gameplay, better yet if it has some sort of challenge that doesn't end with a gameover. I especially like games that have a dual concept, for example:

-Dominate or be dominated
-Netori or netorare

The thing that I find it cool is having some sort of challenge and being rewarded for it, on the contrary failing it would mean being penalized, however I have to note that I dislike:

-Cruelty or lack of feelings
-When the NTR is focused on jealously or dark feelings

I'm a chill guy, I won't care if for example the MC girlfriend ends up breaking up with him to become the girlfriend of some futa for example but that's only if it's not focused on jealously and the MC doesn't become a pathetic mess, even more being able to do the same or even recover your girl if you want to is a big plus.

Related to cruelty or lack of feelings it's related to both, antagonists and femdom, I don't like to deal with bastards nor do I like femdom related to torture or in which the girl has 0 care of the MC.

My best experiences are from games that have:

- Decent/good writing. Which is not very common.
- Engaging gameplay. I have lower standards here than for regular games, but the gameplay should be non-trivial.
- Fetishes that get me going (basically various flavors of corruption). This is not optional. I wouldn't bother with even the best vanilla game, in fact sexual content in non-ero games (e.g. CDPR games) puts me off.

But honestly these patreon wegs win by default. As you may know they basically stopped translating the good Japanese eroges. Translated Japanese games we got these days: cheap rpgm (lots of MTL too), short VNs (often borderline kinetic), scat-filled VN. Like, of course I'd try the wegs.

I am looking for the ultimate gamer fun.

I think the VN's main advantage is two things:
- Interactivity: the player has the possibility to have events played out the way they like it, even though they are still constrained by the options given by the dev it's much better than just having a linear story
- Story: the dev has endless opportunity to tell the story. We can delve into the MC's background, the LI's background, the world setting, and especially the motivations why the characters are there and what they are doing. A well made story makes the player invested in the characters and that makes the sex way hotter.

In short corruption.

Porn games seem to be the only games good at corruption.
And even then it is only a few.

Games you sell on steam has a whole host of legal issus that prevent you from mind breaking a bitch and her mother into your devoted sex slave's.

I am scared of being found out.

Porn games while extreemly limited in the gameplay department.
Add's a feeling of realism that is missing everywhere else.
A sense i am the bad guy.

Then i can murder in drove's without the slightiest care.
Honest i play management games these day.
Building something up is way more satifiecing then slaughter countless of mooks.

In the tyrant i found myself wanting the dev to add the option to corrupt bruce into using the woman as i was.
Bruce is the loser dad.
And i felt pity for him and wanted to teach him to be a slaver.
I also wanted to have the black guy who's name escapes me arrested.
I felt killing was too crude.
Dont get me wrong.
I slaughter armies of innocents without a care in the world in most games.
But i find killing beneath me.
A failure of my ability to corrupt and control.
In my mind:
If i have to kill i failed.

TLDR:
Porn games are more realistic then most games or movies about human behavior and allow you to corrupt woman into devoted sex slave's.

Unlike the other people here, I don't care too much about storytelling, buildup, or romance. I'd say the interactivity that gameplay brings is the key here. It's such a distinct advantage video games have over any other form of media.
