I've been trying out NovelAI's new GLM-4.6 model, and I'm seriously impressed with how good it is. There doesn't seem to be any censorship at all, and you can get pretty wild how far you can go (sometimes unsettlingly so).

NovelAI runs on a subscription, so I'm curious how it stacks up against free (locally installed) AI writing tools. I'm mainly wondering about two things: how well they actually write, and how unrestricted (and talented) they are when it comes to explicit content.

Basically I'm trying to figure out if any free options are good enough to make the switch worth it. Setting up local AI seems complicated from what I've seen, and I'm not sure I want to deal with the confusing setup process if the results won't match what I'm getting now.

I used Novelai a while ago and I remember finding it very practical and fast compared to other paid AIs that work in the browser. I don't know how locally installed AIs perform, but what I do know is that Novelai has great potential to be the most practical AI, especially considering that its focus is exclusively on anime-related content.
