Hi creatives, I was recently asked for tips on how I made my Comic [Celestial War] (Ep 1 & 2 below)

I figured this might help some of you who are also interested in creating visual stories but don't know where to start.

So here we go :)

First - To Generate images I am using
It basically let's you use Stable Diffusion Online, which is great for when:

1) You want to make images, not learn how to set up complex, heavy weight software on your pc
or
2) Your hardware costs less than a small family car

The Downsides are:
It's not free
The site is sometimes unavailable.

--How to Generate your first Image?

1) Sign up to Civitai
>Go to
>By default things like gore / nsfw should be turned off.
>Go to your settings to change your content preferences.

2) Check out the Image Gallery
(Search Bar above, or "Images" tab on the start page)
>Look for images in the style that you're looking for. (Anime, Realistic,...)
Only the style for now!
>Images have a little brush icon in the top right corner.

3) Click the brush.
It let's you use the exact inputs that the person who made the images has used.

4) Test a bunch of images.
Rewrite the inputs & see what changes.
Look for:
>Accuracy - How accurate are the results to what you put in?
>Style - Does the style stay consistent?
>Detail - How well can the ai model you're using understand details, backgrounds, poses, etc.
>Cost - There are very sophisticated ai models, but some are expensive. If you're not trying to spend a lot, try to find an ai model that's cheap. (I typically spend about 10-20 buzz for 4 images. That works for me & a 10-20$ sub lasts for a month)

5) Structure Your Story
Once you found a style that works for you, make a list of the images that you need to tell the story of your comic & start generating them.
(Start small, go for 1-3 pages at first, just get a feel for how to generate a consistent story)
>The high res fix is really powerful, you can improve your image quality by a lot, but it also costs 2x as much.

6) Place your Images!
>Use a tool like affinity designer (the one I'm using) or something similar (e.g. canva, photoshop, illustrator,..)
>Simply place your images next to eachother and add speech bubbles.
>If you don't know where to place your images, just google for "Comic Page Layouts".
>Just copy a layout that you like & place your images accordingly.

--And Boom! You're done!
Congrats on making your first Comic!

If you're familiar with photoshop or similar, then of course you can go and fix details, cut out characters from the background, layer them, or crop images to make pages more dynamic & interesting.

I'm sure that with this process & some practice you'll be able to get some amazing stuff done!
Looking forward to seeing what you can come up with, feel free to post your work here or send me your stuff :)

If you like the style I'm using, you can also check out my civitai page & copy the style.
Again just click the brush:

Hope you found this helpful, if you have any questions let me know!

p.s. If you already are familiar with stable diffusion, you can also upload your own lora / models & use them online on civitai.

Here are the first 2 episodes of the Comic I made using this process.
