How important is a well-structured and well-told story?

Or I could also ask what is more important: a good story or solely the quantity of adult scenes and getting to them as quickly as possible?

Story doesn't even have to be "good" for me, it just has to actually have a story. IMO, what separates these games from straight up porn is context. Your given extended context for what's happening. The hows and whys. I personally have zero idea why there are people that ask for full saves and gallery stuff instead of actually playing the game. Just watch a video at that point.

I'll say the majority don't care about the story much, we had the same slop for the majority of incest, harem, ntr, etc. Dad is out of the picture and MC for some reason started to lust for his family now he tries to be the man of the house, Everyone magically loves MC even tho he has no redeeming qualities other than being the MC, and very safe routes are taken to not disappoint the player base, Dumbass NTR protag and LI that get easily corrupted by magical cock while losing all morals and sanity for some reason.

People usually go for comfort in Porn, deeper stories aren't valued as much.

In my opinion a good story enhances the quality of the adult scenes and makes them more worthwhile, due to the large amount of "fast food" like adult games that get churned out the bare minimum that I require from an adult game's story is at least be engaging enough to follow along, if not I genuinely just lose interest overall, cause the adult scenes don't hit hard enough.

Having lots of sex scenes is pretty pointless by itself. You want to build up to them first, you want to get players to actually want the scenes before you hand them over.

In a VN this is usually done with building characters through storytelling. In a game that focuses on gameplay you can instead let that gameplay be a large part of the buildup. Either way, you need to build towards the scenes before they happen. They should feel like a reward, rather than something that just gets thrown at you out of nowhere.

If there's no story and the sex gameplay is just a series of clickable pictures or cutscenes then it's the same as a porn site. Porn sites don't give you control over the characters, or how you want the story or scenes to play out. So if the game has no story or little control over gameplay, then the game starts competing with pornhub.

I think the story doesn't have to be super structured, or even all that logical, but it should have a hint of truth in it to hook the reader.

Depends on what you're aiming to make.
A typical shtick for a typical coom-brained ape doesn't need much of a story, just needs tons of porn.
But if you want to make some Baldur's Gate level shit.... :sneaky::coffee:

if your only thing is 'original story' you will get barely any following. it's a 'nice to have' gimmick and will attract readers just about as little as good literature. people are not queuing for camus in front of bookstores, they're busy deepthroating harry potter or 50 shades of vanilla for moms. they might have tolstoi in their bookshelves, but trust me they didn't read it.

probably what works best is choosing a popular genre people already know what to expect from, and not fuck it up with adding divisive marginal dealbreaker kinks.

Pretty much the most important thing. If the Game is boring I dont play it. It needs to keep my attention. Too many Games are just fucking pointless Sex-Scenes after another.

For me, alot and very. If the story sucks or low quality i am not gonna be invested and ill just rush to get to the h-scenes and call it a day. An example of this is tentacular, love jackermans videos but his game was honestly trash, just a click through until the sexual stuff, uninstalled right after. Game that is the opposite of that is being a dik, love that game but my god its so depth and detailed i got to the start of season 2 and basically dropped it and forgot what happened now if i were to go back to it, i will eventually but its gonna take a long time before i do

I personally think story telling matters a lot, most of all:
  • characters need to have at some different character traits (aims, world views, attitudes, personality, knowledge, interests, experiences...)
  • aims and traits/views must be chosen in such a way that they bring the characters into conflict
  • characters need to act consistently and not change their attitude/views/aims/personality every minute without reason
  • the story need at least some plot point-events that make (strong) decisions for the characters necessary which might be able to logically change the attitude/views of the characters and that optimally lead directly to the lewd action
I saw recently a 50 minutes long porn video, where not really much happens, but which still gets me off again and again and which is in my opinion a good example for simple but still very good lewd storytelling, that could also be adapted for lewd games: "Performance review" about a perfomance review of a nuru-massage with the performers: Krissy Lynn, Loni Legend and Justin Hunt.

The main character traits of the characters can be summarizes as:
Krissy Lynn (performance reviewer)
  • Views/attitude:
    • A professional nuru-massage requires the masseuse to get intimate with the one to be massaged
    • Sees her own task only as reviewer and not to get involved with the customer herself
    • The customer is king
    • (Employees have to follow the rules or get kicked)
  • Aim
    • Review the Massage of Loni and improve her behavior.
    • Satisfy the customer.
Loni Legend:
  • View/attitude:
    • A professional masseuse may not get involved into intimate activity with the one to be massaged.
    • Unexperienced
  • Aim:
    • Give a professional massage
    • Doesn't want to lose her job
Justin Hunt:
  • View/attitude:
    • When an employer demands something of his employee they have need to do it themselves
    • Expects the employer to support her employee
  • Aim:
    • Wants to have a satisfying massage
Only with those simple conditions, the both female characters get driven to do reluctantly but willingly more and more lewd actions with the customer that come around as logical and consequential and thus drag me as a viewer into the story and drive my libido.

The plot points here almost all evolve around the two female characters being required to do more and more lewd actions but their reluctant positive decisions come around as natural as they are based on them having to weigh one of their personal views against another and not out of plain air.

A story in a ero-game unfortunately doesnt have to be well structured or well written nowadays however I do put alot of emphasis on the fact tat no matter how bad the story is, it has to make at least some amount of sense.

Miel games are prime example of this, most of their games are very loose storywise and although I enjoy alot of them some of their title's story make so little sense that I'm knocked out of the whole experience(One example, Protag rapes the housewives just one time and they immedietly falls for him). Once I'm knocked out I juz skip most of it since there no point in further engaging in it.

That really depends on the dev/author. Not all written stories are good and some devs would be better off making a turbo-coomer simulator.

But well written stories/characters are always better than the generic "fill all six/seven of the soulless holes on the mugshot styled banner" types of games. That's just my opinion though.
