I ask this as i’ve started working on a game, and i have some ideas. They’re nothing too crazy and still in the planning phasw but i think have potential for an enjoyable game.

so i m curious.. how important is it, to you, that the game be really unique and original in terms of characters, premise, etc?

Do you avoid a game if it has a more “basic” premise thats been done multiple times? Or do you give it a chance anyway if it looks good? And why

Let's get this out of the way. I know very well what "originality" means to you people, and no, your type of originality will not swing heads, especially for this coombrain smoothbrain demographic that only thinks in fetishes, scenes, roles and never the execution.
Coffin of Andy & Leyley. Horror adventure puzzle RPGMaker game with no combat, but full on story. Lots of cannibalism and satanic demonic pacts are normal in their world. What made this one different from all the other similar games Nemlei released which also previously had a bro-sister dynamic with cannibalism?
The Sepia color palette & fanfic Harry Potter esque artstyle, the age of the characters, the fact they're human.
The fact they look like a weird cross betweena 14 year old and a 21 year old like most Pokemon characters.

And the way she and her partner published it and marketed it. She obviously had help.
What was unique about the story? The more interesting character is the one you don't play as in the first chapter. Leyley is a blank slate of a murderhobo like most player protagonists. Second character is the one with an actual conscious & conscience that has something to break and corrupt in the first place. Andrew looks like a cross between a teenager and a young adult. Ashley has nothing to corrupt. This basically attracts all the sick twisted teenager who want nothing but to corrupt and go teehee I can't corrupt I'm the support, you're the leader lol, the support bears no responsibility.

And oh no it was totally the way it was published, tagged, marketed and of course the art style.

And also "lewd" never full on porn. Cause people get bored and cum too early to porn. Lewd is the teasing beating around the bush thing which every normie loves cause let's be honest what the hell do you actually do once the dog catches the wheels of the car(he chases after the wheels, not the car itself)? Nothing. ( Well I'd have an answer in my threads for that, but nobody no <removed> no nigguhigguh no redneck texan using ain't so ser got time to read my "textwalls" on how to revolutionize the porn genre to stop being a shitty do-nothing sandbox.)

You're going to get a bunch of 'yes' but it's not really going to be as helpful as you think it is. I typically roll my eyes as soon as I see 'college student' or 'living with his mom landlady and two sisters tenants', but there's plenty of games with that set up that make more money than mine does. Cliches exist for a reason after all.

My advice is to make the game YOU want to make. You have no guarantees that you're going to make lots of money. Most devs here make less than $100 US on Patreon, even after years of hard work.

if the game is original, of course it gets plus points and stands out from the others. it doesn't have to be original though. which of the games made by billion dollar companies are original? when was the last time ubisoft made an original game? when it comes to adult games, it might be a bit easier to be original because 90% of the games made are about the mother and sister of the main character whose father has died.

I'd personally say when it comes to porn it's the exact opposite; the more cliche you are the more you attract the smoothbrains willing to pay you their mexican pesos worth 5$ a month till you find some richer middle eastern genes willing to dish out $20 a month which is still garbage for people spending 6 years and over 50k to make a game. Porn people outside of wealthy engineer furries just aren't willing to dish out a $300 subscription to your Patreon and would rather at best spend $30 if he gets to add his OC or you metaphorically suck his dick cause at that point that'd be cheaper than adding his OC.

Porn enjoyers are like soccer and football enjoyers. It's all emotion, all commonality, all herd mentality and 0 originality/imagination/independence. Even the women, the women at least demand some goddamn intimacy and something beyond benis in bagina epin meme, but with the average men nope.avi and even with "women" you get something of a "muh boyfriend is my pet or my caretaker" mentality which makes you kill yourself as a writer when you attempt to get into their psyche.

The main thing is the pitch. how do you present the characters, the sex, the word. That's what makes you charismatic and great.

It matter less that the accuracy between the CG and the situation, and the global quality of the writing.

Present me a never seen before story, that looks like it was wrote by a 10yo, and you'll get nowhere. But present me yet another college boy craving to fuck all the girls and his family, that is pleasant to read and to play, and you'll get some good points.

I prefer quality over originality.

There are alot of promising games that I had to stop playing. Because they had minimal content, unpredictable update schedule or suddenly abandoned, insane grind, walls of text, "original" inconvinient controls that I never asked for.

Make your game user-friedly, fill it with content, post regular updates and it will be better than 99% of games here.

I look for well-written corruption with some gameplay. Though since the quality of the writing or the specifics of the corruption may not be evident on the game's page, an interesting premise can help it stand out.

Characters definitely need to be new/unique. Constantly seeing the same Models (even if they are all morphed/edited a bit differently) sucks lol. Playing as the same MC you played in that other game... why? I try to find different MCs and Models, but a big majority use the same shit. Same goes for character types. Where the killers/insane Lis at? (no not acting lessons...)

Why isn't the DAZ store getting new models? aren't there places where people can create some? it could be like Steam with its workshop. Except, the people make Models and can sell them in the Daz store.. idk, I have no clue how all that works.

Premise wise, another thing that is hard to figure out. What premises etc hasn't been done yet? and there are so many different types. I usually avoid the "Fantasy" type AVNS (even though I do own some) but after not being in that much of a "Fantasy" mood, I haven't enjoyed playing through some and just give up.

MC is always either going to college/high school, is some sort of Detective/Bodyguard/Waitress etc We need more different types of jobs an MC can do (just to have as a storyline) They are a bowler, they are a Director/Making a movie/show?/streamer? a Mime/Clown for hire...trying to think of what hasn't been done or stuff I just haven't come across.

I give some things a chance (either cause the renders or a Model catches my eye or the storyline) but hate when I end up playing games that force shit on you (either your MC has someone or is destined to be with a certain someone, your MC gets forced into sexual situations, no choice to say no or not pick any LI etc) and sometimes because I'm just curious to see how the game will play out.

'original idea' is just shorthand for a game nobody wanted.

you can make one if you love the idea, but understand there's only gonna be a tiny audience.

Nothing bores me faster than seeing the same things done in the exact same way over and over again. Most of my favorites are games that feel like they're doing their own thing rather than trend chasing.

Quality of presentation is probably more important to general audiences, though. People will forgive cliches and hackneyed scenarios if it looks, plays, and/or reads better than other games like it.

If you just want to cash in, though, find a niche fetish that doesn't get much attention and cater to them. I've seen games with diaper stuff get flooded with money just because those people are desperate.
