OK, so, I tried to install a game with a 4 year old android phone, and I had some issues. is it because I tried to install directly or is my phone too old? am I gonna need to upgrade, or are some of the mobile games here old enough that I can still run them?
How new does your phone need to be to run Android games?

then, yes, your phone isn't compatible with THAT game. No, an app won't help you. It is likely that it is for Android 14+ or has other requirements your phone won't have.
What Android version is your phone?
Edit: also, if you haven't already --- the first place you ask for troubleshooting help for a specific game is in that game thread. People who play the game are active in that thread and may have better knowledge on how to help people because they might have seen the issue before.

I said nothing about wireless communication 4G vs. 5G.
This is about Android OS. Android 14 (Oct 2023) is newer than Android 13 (Oct 2022). That is just one possibility why you are getting an incompatibility message. Could be RAM. Could be video drivers. Could be a plethora of things. Could be you haven't turned on "allow third party apps" to be installed.
I would ask people in the game thread for the game you are having issues with. Let them know you have an android 13 phone and you are getting an incompatibility error. See if anyone in that game thread has advice.
Oh, good news, I gotta upgrade soon. Security's a fantastic excuse to upgrade my phone.
No, like I got the 5G model. The 4G model goes up to Android 14 OS, 5G only goes up to 13.

Maybe on THAT model phone, but 4G and 5G isn't dependent on Android version. It's wireless communication speed. It has NOTHING to do with whether or not your phone can run a game found on this site. Nothing.
I have 5G Android 15 phone. There are 4G Android 15 phones. Depends upon the make, model, how much you want to spend, etc. But it is irrelevant for what you are having problems with.
OK, well, regardless, my phone still has an os of Android 13. I saw on Wikipedia that the os upgrade limit depends on the model. I have the model that only goes to 13.
