I got 8.1 models and I am new to this. So I was wondering how to install this, especially with the patch? I usually use the install manager to install stuff. And after installing how do I apply this to my model?

I don't use manager.
Look at your asset file structure.
Look at your Daz Llbrary structure.
You should recognize same pattern and folders.
Just copy paste.

is there any disadvantage on using manager? I found that using it makes it easier to find content under smart tab.
I'm maybe the wrong person to ask this tho, as I never used the "smart" tab.

Genesis 8.1 is a free asset and should be in install managers ready to download tab. If you haven't already update daz to 4.21, again it's free and should be sitting in the same tab. Genesis 8.1 installs into the Genesis 8 Folder so in your Content tab inside of Daz Studio scroll down to Genesis 8 and click on the folder to highlight it. If Genesis 8.1 is installed that's where you will find it. As above I don't use "Smart" either but I hope I have told you enough that you can find it.
