I'm new so it's my first post.

I don't even know if I posted on the right forum... I wanted to ask, how you hide your ip adress on internet or dark web/net? A lot of people say vpn.
Vpn = log so i guess no
Thor ? Ok maybe but there is still your ip adress or hacker can hack you or track you with your traces on the dark web/net.
I couldn't find a right answer. Just asking by curiosity.

Probably not the right forum.. we mostly just talk about the morality of NTR, and whether or not it should be added to every single adult game in existence.

Ask yourself why you want to hide your IP address on the internet/dark web in the first place. Hiding your IP address doesn't make you invulnerable, and having it visible doesn't make you automatically vulnerable either.
If your worry is that VPNs have logs, then just use a log-less one.
If you're worried that hackers want to hack you and will even if you're using 'Thor', then it's probably already too late for you. /s

The answer to your question about hiding your IP is VPNs or TOR, that's mostly it. If you're looking for something else as an answer, then you should do research about threat modelling and figure out what you're looking to do (privacy? anonymity? security? etc., and against what), and how to achieve it.

As the web work with IPs hidding your IP doesn't really work.
VPN knows your IP and it only comes down, as often, which one you trust. Every VPN service, same as TOR entry servers know your IP.
TOR by concept use at least 3 different servers to pass through your request: Entry, middle(s) and exit-server.
In concept TOR is good and none of those 3 server has the whole picture. If it is 100% safe? No. You can still follow the breadcrumb. You see the IP from the exit server (you can not not see it), you could then get - depends on the configuration of the exit server - the IP of the middle server, then rinse and repeat, you have the entry server and at the end your IP.

Doing something illegal is a dumb idea in the beginning and it is even more dumb to do it in the digital world, where everyone left tracks and some, with the good enough budget, could follow.
Comes back to the never changing question: What is the gain, what are the risk and does your gain/risk equation has a positive result?

Tails OS, Qubes, Whonix. OR Simply Tor. DO keep in mind to search how fingerprinting works on internet and which browser your using absolutely affects finger printing.
Do check:

What the others have said but keep in mind you can easily undo all that if you don't educate yourself and / or use bad practices.
Downloading random files / torrent, not configuring the tor browser / other browsers, leaving java script running etc. etc.

It doesn't matter if you have the best alarm in the world if you don't set it and leave all your doors unlocked.

The easiest way to be sure that you will not be found on the Internet for Googling strange and scary things is to "borrow" someone's laptop or phone. It is advisable not to be near the place where you live yet while you are using the Internet.
The rest of the crap is where you hide your IP address by downloading vpn free vpn from websites or something else full of crap. They'll find you anyway, be sure. Well, or the feeling of paranoia will eat you up. Good luck, my little fan of extremism.

I think if someone is specifically after you and trying to find you, you have no chance to hide. if no one is trying to find you, even a simple vpn will work.

Using a VPN or Thor present absolutely no interest if you don't systematically delete all cookies before going to another website, and don't change your computer, OS and browser. Even browsers dedicated to privacy aren't an effective security, there's always, and will always be, a way to go.

Oh, and by the way, asking how to "hide your ip adress on internet or dark web/net" mean nothing. Internet and the "dark web" are the exact same thing. There isn't a dark network hidden somewhere, just internet sites that are unknown of lambda users and where they shouldn't put their feet ; and generally can't put them by accident.
