How to make your own banner/signature?

To all the people who make their own signatures, how do you usually go about it? What programs do you use? How do you make yours animated? I've been on here for a while and I see all these well made signatures and I wanna learn so I can ones for the games I like.

The best place to start is Krull's templates (these are photoshop templates, and really useful to get started).

As I kept making Sigs, I shifted to After Effects for animation, rendering that out as an MP4, then bringing it into Photoshop, and exporting as Legacy: For Web, Gif.
