How would you define a MILF?

Hi, long time lurker here,

I'm hoping some experts could answer this question.

Basically I know MILF = Mother I'd Like to Fuck however I could have sworn I have seen the tag used in the context of an older woman character not necessarily a mother generally dominant (though not always) with a younger male character.

I have been working on a visual novel for the longest time. My routes are written and are varying in how quickly the romance moves based on the character.

However there is a complaint which is you don't want to be playing a game with H scenes and waiting around too long for anything to happen. (100% agree)

Knowing this I decided in order to keep the romance feel of the other routes, it would be good to have a "mentor" type figure that gives him advice on how to interact with some of the girls in the game as well as give him hands on sexual advice.

I know MILF is generally a popular tag and routes I currently have are a mix of senpai/kouhai/classmates. Was younger step sis route as well. (In a later update since I know that has appeal and there is a good arc that can be written with how the story is laid out.)

So currently my plan instead of picking a Love Interest's Mom, I decided the best way to deliver this would be the older sister of his friend who he hangs out with and gives him terrible advice. His older sister would give him some hands on advice. I'm not sure if this would be considered MILF. I will provide a quick rough draft example below:

Example dialogue:

Li1: “Oh, MC, please don’t tell me you’re taking romance advice from my little brother. His idea of a date is asking a girl if she wants to split a bag of chips during lunch.”

Example scene: (Rough draft but gives a good general feel for her character)

Li1: "MC, all alone with your books again? Don’t tell me you’re waiting for me to rescue you from all this studying.

MC: "Oh, Misaki! Uh, no, just… trying to get through this history chapter. Dai’s out, so…"

Li1: "So it’s just you and me, hmm? How lucky for me to have such adorable company all to myself.

MC: "They already think I’m a loser. It's hopeless.”

Overall, I'm not sure if this counts as MILF or there is a potential direction that would qualify it.

MILF essentially meant a woman about the age of their own mother or their friends' mothers (hence the MOTHER part of the acronym). The woman doesn't actually have to be a mother - but around the age of a woman who could be old enough to have been their mother or a friend's mother.

Doing the math, you can see that a MILF was considered to be a woman between the ages of 35 and 50, approximately. But the user of the term should be in that 13-22/25 range.

Once one moves out of the 13-22/25 age range, it is a bit off to use MILF term in the proper comparison. If you are older (say 30 or 40) -- and want to use the term MILF, you would be yearning for a woman who could be GILF to others (50 to 65, appr.). But it would still be an odd term to use. Just say you like older women.

Sadly, people have - like other words - destroyed the meaning to even use it for younger women than they, as long as the woman has a baby (women as young as 16 or so).

what matters is that the woman is portrayed as a middleaged woman both in look and social role. that's what people are looking for in the fetish.

what they are not looking for are things like:
-an 18yo who just gave birth
-a 45yo who looks like a 20yo

I have a character bit like this. she's 28 and plays a very soft, caring, motherly and naive role in contrast to the real mom who's a busy career woman. while mom was working the oldest sister was always the one who was left to take care of her younger siblings, cooking and cleaning like a trad wife. so her attitude towards her 20yo brother is more like a mom than a sister. - still not a milf, but I just thought I'd bring this up as it might be the compromise you were looking for.

that said, in your scenario I'd 100% want to go for the moms of the girlfriends. like I'd ignore the daughters at every possible interaction if her mom was at play. I'd be super annoyed to even talk to the daughter and would insult her at every turn in hopes that the game wouldn't force me to interact with her anymore.

I'd define it as any woman of a good age to be a mom!! And if they're older - like grandma age - then they're a HAG! I have started using hag as an endearing term after it's been popularized by other artists. I am really fond of it hehe
