    A big disappointment.

None of the characters apart from the fairy are important to the story in any way. Zoey acts like she's helping you, but functions exactly the same as any of the other girls.

All characters are fully voiced. This might have been impressive, if not for the fact that the personalities are all terrible. All characters are based on various stereotypes, which is obviously intentional, and nothing is done to pretend this isn't the case. I wouldn't have minded that if the jokes were at least funny. "Bad on purpose" is still bad. The characters are all obnoxious and unfunny. I thought perhaps the experience could in some way end up being somewhat cathartic at least, but no. It just grates unfulfillingly on your soul.

The item system is not very well explained. You hear about the date gifts, but you'll just have to find out about the others for yourself.

The bagage system could have been nice but felt pretty unbalanced. A few of them offer alternative playstyles which can be interesting, while others are just purely punishing. They can all be played around, so I didn't think the system was terrible.

I thought the gameplay of the boss encounter was neat. This again was diminished for me, by how the sequences just before and after the fight were somehow even more cringe than the rest of the game.

It's bad. Much like many things that are suppose to be 'sequels' this one too, is a complete disappointment. Let's start simple :

    1. I like the 'Baggage' mechanic because it add intensity and keeps you more entertained, proves quite a fun challange.
    2. New art... Looks maybe a little better? Nothing changed all that much.

Okay, now that I'm done writing all that long list of positive aspects let's start on real shit.

    1. Remember everything you did in previous game? How you had to actually MEET them, BEFRIEND them, DATE them and then eventually have SEX? It's all gone. None of it matters anymore.

    2. It's turned into a hentai parody not game. Two girls meet, never knew each other and then just go 'Wanna have sex?' to each other after FIRST date with each other while you have to do SECOND date to actually sex them and get a lame CG... And that's all. No more dating. There are porn gifs with more intense story than this shit.

    3. After so much development... Game feels weak and undeveloped but more about it once I'll get to characters!

    4. In this version even when you do 'fast connecting' sex round their standing pictures DO NOT CHANGE. They were getting undressed in first game! Was it so hard to do the same here?

    5. Stamina... Who the fuck added that in the game?! I have limited moves, baggage that proves a fun challenge, those purple fucking hearts are more numerous than in the first game AND girl has a limited FUCKING STAMINA?! I can't even match 5-of-a-kind because she doesn't have enough stamina! And if she runs out of stamina I have to wait 4 moves until I can pick her again?! Her max stamina is 6! If the other girl is less than 4 that means you just lost! And those purple hearts drain the girl's entire stamina so it's fun, especially when you just let go of the chain that ended your date on the spot.

    6. As I said, they dropped all mechanics from first one completely. You can still find out things about them like before but it doesn't matter anymore.

    7. Your stats, they're completely up to luck. Previously you could just go and buy an upgrade from a shop, it was clear and simple. Here you gain seeds of traits and you buy items with them. Why is it up to luck? Well... There are 6 items per trait in a shop that refresh each morning. Between date gifts and a ton of food you have to but Unique Gifts and - freaking - Boots to level up your passion and power token. To level up your traits? Well, you have to be lucky enough to get a Trait Smoothie or whatever it is and give it to a girl. The thing is, they only give 1 EXP ( 2 if you give this TS to a girl whose trait is her favourite ) so that usually means you need to buy around 3-4 of them... Good luck getting your stats up.

    8. In the first game it was easy. You need sentiment and you take up to 6 gifts with you... Here you must give them Boots and UG to HAVE A SLOT for a gift. It's just dumb and complicated. You buy a gift, then you put in a singular girl's slot - it's hard to see 'em btw. during dates saw them around 5 dates in - and that gift stays with her... Don't get me wrong it doesn't disappear but spending so much changing and replacing gifts is just so FUCKING ANNOYING.

    9. CGs... Seriously? So much waiting and we get just a few pictures? They're not even animated gifs just boring old CGs. Go on Rule34 and you'll find better stuff there.

    Now... Onto true horrors... Characters.

Jessie - The one from first game. The only character in the game that still has some personality but only because it was copied from first.

Lola - LOOK HOW THEY MASSACRED MY GIRL. My precious chocolate is now empty, comparing to the previous game. It's like buying a chocolate with a filling but when you bite in it's actually empty. She refers to herself from first game but there's just... something lacking.

Kyu - She's here just to tell you that you must learn how to fuck two girls at the same time. That's all folks.

Abia - Complete pervert of a woman. She's from an islamic country, brought up in very fanatically set islamic family. She could be a fun character, I loved her stumbling over her words because she was so horny but there was really nothing beside it.

Ashley - She's a model and your fuck buddy... Nothing beside it. She's also a pervert. I... can't really say anything else?

Brooke - A MILF golddigger who sluts away with basically everybody because her husband is too busy getting more money for her fucking demands. It's all that's presented.

Candace - Dumb bimbo of a complete slut. That's all folks. There's nothing else.

Zoey - This could be a fun character. She's a complete weirdo who - in her sleep - saw Kyu's people and Venus. She wants to help MC by doing whatever is needed of her even if it's a threesome with complete strangers she never met before. Sadly underdeveloped as there's no real way to know more about her beside it.

Lailani - A complete cutie pie. She's a Tiffany of HuniePop 2. You don't get to know much about her aside from the fact that she's does massages and works at the hotel...

Nora - I think she was suppose to be shown as a badass but caring aunt? Instead she was simply presented as a thief and a drug dealer. Is this who Kyanna want near her little son? Since ya know, they're cousins and Kyanna wantes her to look after Phillip sometimes?

Sarah / Suki - Weeb. I don't mean the fun type. She's just obnovious and dumb. She has 0 personality even among this new cast.

Lillian - She's a goth. She COULD be fun character if she had some development, maybe drop the whole dark act a little bit as she would be getting closer with MC but all there is to her is : I hate everything, everybody hate me, I hate everybody, KILL ME, KILL ME, KILL ME, I WANT TO DIE, IT WOULD BE FUNNY IF I DIED, oh also can you fuck my pussy because it might make my parents angry? WHAT THE FUCK!

Polly - This could be the biggest hit! COULD! You can even pick her genitals! Except it changes COMPLETELY NOTHING! No character ever react to it and - biggest hit - NO MATTER THE VERSION YOU CAN NEVER SEE HER GENITALS. WHY WERE WE GIVEN A CHOICE THAT DOESN'T MATTER?! WHO WAS STUPID ENOUGH TO MAKE IT LIKE THIS AND LEAVE UNDERDEVELOPED! IT'S LIKE THEY WANTED TO MAKE SOMETHING INNOVATIVE AND THEN WENT 'oh... nevermind'.

I'm honestly happy I got it here. I wanted to see if it's worth to spend cash on but boy, it's not worth wasting neither money nor time on.

    Well, it was disapointing
    The good:
-The gameplay, his bejeweled style. Having two girls with diferent traits add something new to the formula
    - At least they have voices.

    The bad:
-Everything else its not important, know the girls, learn what they like, etc. it's not important, incorrect/correct answers have no importance. You never "build" a relationship, you can just click to go on a date and nothing will change
    - Some of the girls are reeeeeeally annoying
    - Its not really a Hgame, no animations or undress or something like that

After playing the game to near the end, I decided to drop it because I understood that I was forcing my self throe unfun gameplay for close to no reward, just because I love the first game.

The game has non of the character story of the first one, giving you instead a simple Q&A chart that you need to fill, but unlike the first game where you want to remember what they tell you, here you can just skip throe it cause its just fluff.

the artwork is ok at best with around 25 sexy images with 3 small variation on them (cum / naked / cloths).

the threesome idea is fun until you understand that when it comes to the "story" of each date, you the player, are kind of a third wheel, all the dialog in the "story" is about how and why they would like to do each other, and you just get to watch and "join" in the end.
I felt more like a match maker then a person going around having threesomes.

The additions in the new game system made the game unreasonably difficult and punishing.
Adding the stamina system made it crazy punishing to do all the necessary things to win dates:
    • it increased the number of tiles from 7 to 8, making it much more common where you get so little moves on the board that you can't plan things most of the time.

    • it punishes you for making what in most match 3 games is a good move, matching 4 or 5 of a kind, now it may sound like nothing but when you have a max of 6 stamina on each girl, draining 3 for a 5 of a kind is just crazy because the other girl gets only one back, so you lost 2 stamina from the move instead of the 0 total in a normal move.

    • it makes you waist moves on stamina all date long, with 25 moves per date you understand pretty fast that you need to pick one of the girls for making the points because you can only make enough points if her passion is close to full, so you start burning turns just to get her stamina back to stack that passion and then to get the relevant points.

Waited 5 years for a game that is worse than the original. None of the things that made the first game great are present except for the puzzle game itself and they changed enough mechanics on it to make it unenjoyable. I have no will to grind this for the minimal return. Hard Pass.

Great and a worthy successor to the first game. Writing is hilarious and the gameplay is even more engaging and complex. I think a lot of the people here are upset because they don't understand the systems enough to be good at the gameplay (it does need more explaining ingame imo) or because their favorite character/s didn't get in. I'd happily purchase DLC that brought some of my favorite girls back.

I will give this one 2 Stars.
    The worst leveling ever.

    Pros:
    - Art is gorgeus.
    - Scenarios are great.
    - Puzzle mechanics are really good.
    - Decent voiced game.

    Cons:
    - There is no art including the main character.
    - The game lacks on animations.
    - Mechanics to level up stats to progress through the game are broken against the player. You will have a REALLY BAD TIME at leveling stats.

The game is badly broken and needs to be fixed.

I went on this for kyu, but what I got was shyty gameplay, mostly meh writing, incredibly boring porn CGs, and NO KYU SCENES...

This is sad and my day is ruined (unless my refund is accepted, then it's just 99% ruined)

Glad I wasn't holding my breath waiting for Hunie Pop 2 to come out. Do yourself a favor: pirate it, see if you actually like it, and only THEN should you think about buying it on Steam or GoG or wherever. If I seem salty, it's because I stupidly bought this on Steam myself.

Rating: only for very specific fetishists, people who found the nudity and character development in Hunie Pop 1 distracting from the match-3 gameplay, and people who will play literally any porn game with a futa in it. Four flaccid dongs out of ten. And if this DOES sound like something up your alley, enjoy your tepid lesbian CGs. Hunie Pop 2 sucks.

They really thought their strong suit from HP1 was the puzzles, didn't they? Why else would they double down on all the puzzle elements and leave lewd content in the background? This really was tedious, repetitive, and not fun in general.

To preface, I have played through huniepop 1 around 5 times, doing all steam achiievments and all that shit.

Huniepop was broken as shit, you could very easily grind yourself to max level and make the entire gameplay easy.

Huniepop 2 "fixed" this. WIth the downside that you get punished for engaging with the characters.

There are a whole lot of good ideas here, but very few feel fun in execution. The best example is the baggage system. Some of them are really fun, enabling entirely new strategies, while providing a drawback. Most are just downsides. Not even fun ones either, they just passively make the game harder. This went to the point that dates were essentially instant losses if you get a bad combination.

I've seen people complain about a lack of depth to the characters, and I sort of agree. They are certainly less interesting than the first game, and you don't really get to know them. Don't get me wrong, HP 1's characters were walking stereotypes and chliches. But they felt more genuine,.

The people saying there is less porn than in HP 1 are delusional. That is just not true.

Look, this game is perfectly fine. It's pretty polished, the gameplay works. it's fun for a couple hours.
It's also really not expensive, and I encourage you to buy it.
If you're in germany like me, where steam decided porn games are bad again, it is on GoG.

Huniepop was a parody of dating sims , with a slight edge, good gameplay, entertaining characters, some porn and some genuinely funny dialogue.

Huniepop 2 tries to be a parody of porn games, but ends up being a parody of Huniepop 1. It was fun for a day. But I have no desire to every play it again.

Gameplay : Like the first one, but they decided to be smart with it and ruined it instead. You are punished for setting up 4/5 in a rows, cross combinations, because of the new stamina system. I played it on normal then on Easy(Chad) difficulty and it STILL feels like a pain in the ass. New item system is also terrible and seems like an afterthought.

Art: Why is the menu art and wardrobe art so good, but when it comes to the CG art its absolutely terrible? The CG arts mostly just look like some lesbian scenes, but I guess if you're into that you'll dig it. In the wardrobe I get Wedding Night Polly that I can match with Fifties hair and it already seem hotter than any of the CGs. The art style is inconsistent and makes no sense, they shouldve got the artist to do the CG as well. It's my biggest gripe with this game because you go balls to the wall on these dates and they drop you a mediocre CG still image. The dates get increasingly tougher for ...the same stagnant and boring rewards.

Overall : Even if you don't compare it to the original, this is still a pretty mediocre game. My advice? If you're a fan of HP1 like I am or you're just curious, download one of the saves and look at the CGs(it's not very many pictures anyway). Skip this game.

Yeah, as a big fan of the first one and of tile-matching games in general, chalk me up to another person not satisfied with the sequel. Basically, there's some interesting ideas for a tile-match game but there's just too many rng and punishment elements, the porn quality and amount is just not enough (less porn in the sequel? Come the fuck on), and the way some of the ladies are characterized is makes them less appealing as the game goes on.

In terms of gameplay, I like the idea of splitting up my tile-matching between two targets with each one having traits that affect item choice and board interaction. Good idea. What's not a good idea is having those traits be overly punishing. For example, joy bells and passion hearts are imperative to winning, so having the weeb and the Zoey just flat-out reduce them is not fun. The Latino woman lowing your date score for switching away from her--a core gameplay mechanic--is not fun. The dumbass punishing you for making big matches is not fun. The weeb (again) rng butting in when you're trying to pull off a combo with the other date is not fun. Sure, there's an item that stops baggage from activating, but having to spend a precious item slot on making sure the game is actually fun to play is not fun. The good examples of this mechanic are the gift restrictions as it changes an other wise bad thing--exhaustion/upset--into a strat: something to aim for. The best ones were the traits that gave the broken heart tiles different effects. That was fun to build and combo around.
As it's been said, the stamina system is also not very fun because you get punished for making big moves. Potentially failing a date because you did something spectacular is a bit incongruent. A stamina system is not bad in of itself, quite a good idea in this case imo, but it should have just ticked away as the date progressed with perhaps matches of four or more replenishing stamina. That would have also got rid of the awful stamina tiles, which most of the time just take up space.
It's also pretty grindy and rng-dependent. I found the best strat was to shove food items that grant starting passion down the throats of the ladies and hope and pray that the starting board had a few good passion/sincerity combos straight off the bat. By the end of the game, I could pretty much tell whether or not I would fail a date based on only the first handful of moves. Without a good passion/sincerity game, getting those thousands upon thousand of date points just wasn't going to happen in a timely manner.

The porn was really disappointing too. I still find it utterly mind-boggling that the sequel has more girls but less porn than the original. How. How in the fuck. The selfie feature from the original was taken out, which is a shame because getting increasingly sexy messages from your partners was a lot of fun. Even more disappointing was that in both the original and the sequel, I found the character portraits to be more appealing than the CGs, and now they don't even get a scrap of their kit off! Come the fuck ooooon. I bet there even are nude models too. Abia is practically naked in two of them. The threesome thing, while a good idea, often looked and felt like you were just watching two other lesbians fuck without you an active participant. And while it's not my jam, if you're into dickgirls, well then you got cucked out of cock something fierce. If you're going to have something like that in your game, commit!

I think the biggest let down was the girls. Basically, you are making a porn game so make them appealing to fuck especially if I have to fuck all of them to progress the game. I appreciate the extra complexity "baggage" gave to the gameplay, but it made all of the girls more unappealing the more I got to know them. Having Jessie be depressed and wheeze in my face is not sexy. Romancing someone who is literally impressed by toddler's toys is not sexy. Having the goth chick blabber about insufferable teenage angst is not sexy. A loud, unhygienic, cringey weeb is not sexy. Not having any hidden characters like in the original is also a bit of a let-down.

To sum up my little TED Talk here: there's a good idea for a tile-matching game here, but it's just not fappable. For a porn game, that's pretty damning.

After finishing HP2, i have to say that HP1 is superior in every way.

    Story
You're the same guy from the previous game and fuck chicks like crazy.

    Characters
    Bland, Annoying and Unrelatable.
In the previous game you actually had characters with some personality, here EVERYONE is a slut, the moment you meet them they are already into you.
The fact that 3 (4 if you count Kyu) are characters the player already knows doesnt help with the build up.

    Gameplay
There are only Double Dates, thus only threesomes.
Threesomes are not so bad but its kills of some of the aspects from the old game.
Everytime you meet a girl, there is another one and you have to date that specific couple twice then you get to the sex scene and after that its done.
No more content for that couple.
The entire level up mechanic from HP1 is gone, you can still raise some of your stats but only through giving girls specific gifts.
Stamina is a joke too, during dates you constantly have to swap between girls so no one goes out of stamina and if both go out of stamina, you fail.

In HP1 you could talk to the girls to learn more about them and if you answered their questions correctly you got "exp" which could be used to level up some stats.
Here talking is pretty much pointless, it gives you some of the currency used for the gift shop and increases the amount of moves you're going to have during the date but thats about it.
Learning more about the girls is also pointless, cause as i mentioned before everyone is extremely bland or a massive slut.

Overall if you're looking for the true HP experience, play HP1.
2 just feels like a demo or an early alpha and the girls are just filler characters.

    tl:dr
HP2 sucks, HP1 is way better.

No porn game should be this difficult to reach the H scenes, even on easy difficulty. Huniepop 1 difficulty was way more manageable.

Girls dont lose clothing as you gain their affection. This game has less H scenes than Huniepop 1.

Character development, most of the time, penalizes you with debuffs called "baggage". Huniepop 1 had way better character development.

Gifting is the same, although sometimes the girls will be full, so you cant give them food to improve your odds of having a successful date.

In-game currency is split into 4 currencies, each allowing you to buy unique gifts, food, and XP for stats. Terrible system, Huniepop 1 did this better.

The shop is RNG and refreshes after each day. Some may not have lvl 2 skills by the time they reach the 5th date. Huniepop 1 handled this better, 1 currency for all, and it was plentiful.

The overall art and characters of Huniepop 2 are lacking when compared to Huniepop 1. Huniepop 2 doesnt have fan favorite babes, replacing them with unlikeable ones instead. I jacked off to Huniepop 1 due to their superior art and very likeable characters. Huniepop 2 did not arouse me, in the slightest.

    Yeah I'd skip this one

Virtually everything that made the first game special is gone the bejeweled aspect isn't much fun anymore because they made it too tedious and counter intuitive feels very luck based overall.
Some of the new girls are alright and the humour isn't awful but it's nothing special.
The art is still good more technically impressive but waaaaay more generic and 1 dimensional (every CG is basically the same)

HuniePop 1 was probably the best dating sims out there this isn't a dating sim, it's barely even a game anymore there is no actual progression or developments with any characters or even the main story it's essentially just "wow bro lets ♥♥♥♥" with a random assortment of characters you barely know until you hit an arbitrary number to face the final boss.

It has turned into a shell of itself just an annoying minigame and then sometimes a CG, incredibly lame sequel you may as well just look at the pictures online as that's all it has to offer.

    WHWFear

One of the most disappointing sequels ever, no joke. I paid real American dollars for this because I like the first one a lot and was looking forward to all the improvements that years of dev time would assuredly have to offer. Instead this game is a step back in nearly every way. Grind through endless, frustrating, anti-fun gameplay so you can get a boring render of a couple of girls you have no reason to care about. I wanted to like this game but it does everything in its power to get in the player's way at every opportunity.

Oh, and you can choose whether or not one of the girls has a cock but you'll never see her genitals so it doesn't fucking matter.
  18. 1.00 star(s)

    Blumph

There's no reason to get this when the first version exists.

A handful of (unlikable) new characters (with terrible voice acting), half-hearted (all stills) artwork, badly designed, unexplained buff/gift system, baggage system, fatigue system that punishes 4- and 5- in a row, poorly paced progression (aggravated by the poor buff system, above). It's even badly coded; for whatever reason, it took longer to finally get to the start screen than AAA MMOs do.

A few of the characters might have been OK as DLC for the original; they're hopelessly outclassed trying to carry this stinkeroo. Perhaps the most damning indictment is that I didn't even bother keeping an archive copy - download and unzipped copy were in the Recycle Bin in a couple hours.

    PeacePeace

Alright, alright alright. It's finally here. I bought it, played it, and now I'mma tell y'all about it.

Can't say I didn't expect to be disappointed, so I got what I expected. Plenty of charm from the first game is still here, but I think overall there are more fuck-ups than improvements. Here's what I've noticed so far:

First off, the main 'double date' puzzle gimmick

It adds a surprising amount of depth and complexity to the puzzles. I was hoping for a more difficult game, and in that regard it delivers. However, it also adds tedium & frustration.

The most disappointing new aspect of the puzzles is that you're punished for matching 4+ tokens, which costs more energy. This was the only outright terrible decision I've noticed about the new puzzles, but it is a serious fuck-up. Ignoring the difficulty it adds, it is completely anti-fun--and I love challenges. I often find myself having to go for 3 token matches because RNG hasn't blessed me with enough energy tokens to afford better matches. 'Losing' a date because of something like this really sucks. There are still some gifts which benefit you from getting 4+ matches, but you risk running out of Energy and therefore instantly losing the date if you go for them.

On top of managing Energy, you can also randomly activate a girl's 'Baggage' through conversation. It's difficult enough talking to girls given how conversation, puzzles, and gifting all share the same pool of Energy. But Baggage adds to the difficulty of the puzzles as a contextual gimmick, like giving Jessie Emphysema so she doesn't recover energy 20% of the time. By itself I kinda like the idea, but this is just one of several new challenges in the game and I worry how difficult it will become later. Puzzles still scale over time, requiring more points, but playing on Normal with about a dozen dates I'm already having some trouble.

Lastly, date gifts were given a significant nerf. I haven't found them all, but nothing seems as broken or exploitable as in HP1. Again, I like this change by itself, but it's yet another challenge on the pile. Each girl starts with only 1 Gift slot. You have to 'equip' the gift to her and only she can use it until you remove it. The way you gain Sentiment to use gifts works the same, except on top of costing you a turn it'll cost you energy as well, like every other match. This leaves me with a constant feeling that I'm wasting precious Energy going for Passion or Sentiment tokens over points.

All that said, I like the new puzzle mechanics overall. They take some getting used to, but there's a lot more puzzling to these puzzles and I'm fine with that. I'm not so confident others will be as charitable as I am, however. And if the game doesn't give me better tools later, I can see myself becoming a lot more frustrated by the increased reliance on RNG, specifically for Energy tokens.

The other aspect of the double date gimmick is the threesomes, seemingly the only way to get laid in this game. I wasn't sure if this was just me, but I have zero interest in threesomes. Maybe in the right time and place they can be cool, but they're generally just not sexy to me.

Then I read the other reviews on here and it seems like most everyone agrees. I much prefer the intimacy of 1-on-1 dating & sex, and that's totally missing from this game. It also stretches my suspension of disbelief that every single girl you run into is totally open to threesomes almost immediately. There were some sluts in HP1, but the girls mostly felt down-to-earth, even the alien from another planet.

In HP2, every girl is a slut without exception. Some people might be into that, but I imagine most people who liked HP1 appreciated the flirting and several dates they needed to earn the big pay-off. It was more realistic and rewarding. It actually gave you time to get to know the girls. In HP2, I haven't learned more than one detail about any girl before we were fucking. It's prohibitively difficult to get the Energy to talk to them (I'll get to that), and it feels like half the time I only trigger their Baggage anyway. So most of my interactions with the girls has been their scripted dialogue, which only leads me to the conclusion that they're all(?) lesbians because the first interaction is generally along the lines of 'I like sex' and 'I want to have sex with this other girl.' Supposedly some of the girls aren't compatible but I haven't found them yet.

As others have mentioned, the sex itself feels like you're only a 3rd wheel or voyeur, who I suppose just masturbated onto the girls while they were getting busy. That feeling is mostly due to the girls spending more time flirting with each other than with you. Maybe a girl playing this game would be into that, or it'd make some sense playing as a female MC, but undoubtedly most players will be guys playing with male MCs and it just doesn't fit with the situations.

I only liked a couple of girls from HP1, but I could talk to them, 'date' them and have a good time. I didn't care much for the erotic content anyway, but it was nice. Sadly, even if I was into the sluts from HP2, I would never get the same feeling of simulated intimacy, one of the few reasons to play a dating sim, right?

Lastly, I wanna complain about the conversation phases. As far as I can tell, these are the only chance to have 'one-on-one' time with the girls, though it's technically not 1-on-1 and the other girl will sometimes chime in with some mundane comment.

In HP1, you would always have enough energy to talk to your favorite girl Audrey a few times before your date. On top of that you'd almost always have food you could buy to talk with her more. It's technically optional, but there was no downside to doing so and you could potentially earn points for it.

In HP2, you can talk to either girl twice at most before dating. Each time you talk to them increases the difficulty of the date by reducing their pool of Energy and potentially triggering Baggage. Giving them gifts costs Energy from the same pool. You can buy food, but it seems like on average you get about 4-5 food items total each day to split between all the girls. That's 4-5 food items for 8 girls, and there are 4 different currencies to buy them with which you may or may not have when you need it. Food also perishes in about 1 day, for whatever reason.
In HP1, all food was bought with the same Munie and had a 1:100 ratio of Energy to Munie cost and never perished.

I thought the system in HP1 was a bit too simple and straightforward, but HP2 goes in a totally weird and wrong direction with it. Conversations shouldn't be a micromanagement game that makes dating more difficult. It should be a way to get to know the girl, build some mutual interest and relax before the 'date', i.e. the puzzle. HP2 just makes conversations part of the puzzle.

I haven't actually finished the game but I doubt any of these things will change unless the game gets updated. I will say my opinion is much higher than it would otherwise be because I always treated HuniePop as a ridiculous game with fun puzzles, and I don't totally dislike the new puzzles.

Last few notes about the game:

-music is about on par with HP1, average--some reused tracks were a bit disappointing though
-I haven't listened to much of the voice acting, but enough to know it's worse. That said, I think the VAs did a great job in HP1 so it set a high bar
-if you have to put an option at the start of the game to give a girl a penis or not, maybe just don't have it, or do have it but put the option elsewhere
-I like the outfit design more in HP2, though it's annoying that they are seemingly ALL absurdly slutty/revealing, at least that I've seen. A few tasteful casual outfits would be welcome
-art is slightly better I'd say, though I like the girls less personality-wise. Tits definitely look better, but it's a bit weird that there's only one girl who could be called "petite." Love big breasts but c'mon...
-also Kyu's tits are clearly bigger. Immersion destroyed
-I miss the pic texting from HP1, along with the girls who weren't dumb as fuck

First of all, art style is a step down. Main portraits are not that good and they don't strip down. Character icons have simplistic, yet awful style that clashes with the main style. The few lewd pics there are, are OK quality but nothing special.

Dating mechanics from the HP1 are almost all gone so this is no longer resemble dating sim.

Puzzles were fast, simple and challenging in the original. As such they provided good enough barrier to the lewd stuff. Now puzzle aspect is more complex, frustrating and time consuming. Wins and loses feel like results of a die roll than consequences of your actions. All this makes task to reward ratio way unbalanced.

Girls seem far less unique and feel like fuck dolls that you just conquer after two puzzles. There seems to be no personal or relationship development here.

So, all the effort has gone to the wrong things, making HP2 surprisingly shallow and annoying sequel to a truly fun and smart game. It seems that developer did not really understand what made the first game really work. Shame.
