As someone who played through the game on Steam - it's a good VN, but a poor porn game. If you're looking for a fap, it's not a good choice.
as someone who plays the game this is based off of ( ) im playing it anyway (i all ready know what to expect seeing as crush crush and hush hush is made by the same company)

I see a lot of praise for the game on Steam but for a game with the same characters from crush crush, I have a hard time believing the story to be serious or good. I'm not even sure if there is any real "romance."
Some fans believe it to be an AU. Other fans believe it to be a prequel (story-wise). The big difference however is that the MC for this VN is ambiguous, and is drawn out based on the player's actions. On the contrary, Crush Crush's MC is a different character, who is more or less drawn towards to horniness. It's better to go into the story with a fresh page for the characters you know from the clicker game, since their stories are more expanded on.
From my personal playing experience, it felt like I was learning more about the characters presented, rather than just clicking through dialogue in Crush Crush, but I'll leave it to you if you want to try. ^^

It is pretty clearly an alternate universe considering the changes made to some characters (and one in particular). As for the seriousness, it is actually fairly serious (which surprised me). It takes the quirks of the Crush Crush characters and portrays them in a much darker, more realistic way. Don't go into Hush Hush expecting a simillar vibe to Crush Crush.

The romance is honestly a little rushed and forced at times, but all of the girls mostly admit that they're falling for you fast and are wary of the burn that will follow, especially since they know you're only in their town for a month. But the storyline for each girl is pretty good, there are comical and serious moments that make you feel for each of them. Iro's, especially, is one of my favorites, but you'll have to experience all five of them to achieve any of the game's proper endings.

There's no neglecting any of the girls, because if you do, it results in one of them dying and then an immediate game over, with only a vague hint on how to prevent that death.
