VN - Ren'Py - Abandoned - In No Need for Love [v0.8Beta] [Hakunak]

I had a hard time rating this one, in a fair manner.
Story and characters are all over the place, but that is not the worst. Fir me the worst part was that there was no build up to the relationships but most importantly the scenes. You go from talking to creampieing in Dt speeds.
On the plus sides, premise is interesting and somewhat innovative, renders are pleasing, and most importantly, body texture is there and makes sense. Body types are usually on the (very) bustier side, and not every girl is a top model (hags exist as well), which I like. Some kinks kinda exist but not entirely fleshed out. There is also heavy Japan/Asian style influence on the girl faces. Are these enough to justify 4 stars?
Probably not. Only reason I am giving those, is because we get a glimpse of various planned renders (a lot actually), so there is some work already done, so hopefully the producer might be incentivized to deliver at least what he has already planned.

I actually like it. The story is about a handsome guy with big member and getting alot of girls. The girlfriend is hot and is aware that the MC cheats on her. But she stays because she is attracted to the MC physically.

The story does get a little complicated when the ghost appears. The ghost likes the MC too and will try to sabotage his relationship. I hope the NTR gets developed more because that is what I am here for.

A dev who's made a nice game that honestly has a lot of potential. This game from what can be seen from 0.8. has lots of good scenes and has a good story from the start. The game does have its niches but the dev is the one implementing all the great different tastes that everyone has,

The developer has implemented a variety of characters and there's a lot of different choices for everyone . This on its own is great to see and along with the dedication of the developer regardless of redundant criticisms is something I believe is something that is hard to find sometimes. It should also be said that this game has been well refined from it's beginnings and I'm sure the developer will make a great game.

Very disappointed with this game. Nearly all of the female characters look like the same identical generic asian girl, writing is bad and storyline makes no sense. You're forced to have sex with Anna, but she's probably the most empty character, complete lack of meaningful choices. Apparently she can transform into other characters? make no sense.

This game was a massive disappointment. Intially I downloaded the games because the character models look great. That's the only thing that's good about the game. The character models and renders, that's it. There are tons of sexy character models to fap to. But other than that, the story is boring and a chore to read through. The sound effects make it seems like its a comedy game, but it tries to make it serious through its horror elements and story telling. It feels like a slideshow of renders. The NTR content wasn't that bad either, just wish there was more of it.

Not to be disrespectful to the author but it isn't really a game, more like a joke and that was the exact intention (abundant use of meme_sfx and spongebob timeskip screens is the proof). So unless you deliberately want to take the piss at this creation, I would advise against downloading.

I was really excited about this game due to the models and I was hoping for some great animations. Man was I wrong, what a shame...

Reviewing as of v0.7

Pros:

• Character models are good, lots of busty girls
• Choices matter and leads to different scenes (I suggest using the mod)

Cons:

• Around 1 hour of gameplay. Way too much talking so the time is extended a bit.
• No gallery
• Sex scenes aren't good. It's clunky, janky and there's no animations, just stills moving back and forth. A real letdown
• SFX are terrible. Bad quality, cheap and doesn't fit at all
• English needs a lot of work. You can tell it's loosely translated. That or it never went through a proof-read.

Conclusion:

Man I was so disappointed, I really was hoping for a high quality game, or at least have the sex scenes be good. I mean I hope future updates to address some of these cons because if so, this game can be saved.

Truly speaking, I would give this game 3.5 Star, but I gave it 5 Star because I want to motivate the Dev to continue this game. But overall I like this game, I like it because of the plot and story... and also the female models... yeah, I liked them, even though some might not.

• Moaning sounds during the sex scenes are not compatible and in sync with the scene, the sound kills the mood and also distracts the player's momentum.
• Some render quality is bad.
• Body touch and jiggle physics are bad.
• Lighting is also not good.
• Camera positions and angles need to improve.
• English needs to improve.

Oh dear god this is bad. The renders are horrible there doesn't appear to be any plot. The sex scenes look comical and I barely got in about ten minutes of it before I said no. Then this crazy sponge bob signs that pop up after every scene.

For all the criticisms being thrown her way, some justified, some, as is always the case in here; precious, neurotic, completely over-the-top entitled b******s I love so much about this story from its wonderfully oblivious and, when not, highly resilient and in my opinion, IMMENSELY talented Developer, Mrs/Ms. Hakunak.

Hell, I already give this embryonic masterpiece a solid 5 stars just so that I might be able to catch further future glimpses of the delicious Mrs. Denis...so aptly named, Rose. And, besides, the rest of the girls too are voluptuous to the point of coronary. I can think (in moments I can actually take my mind of those oh-so-dangerous curves) of no better way to go!! And the icing on the cake for me too, is that they have such exceedingly pretty faces, especially Anna and Ivy, and are all delightful in character too.

Okay...so the story is a little superficial (at the moment) and patchy here and there and Mademoiselle Hakunak is clearly struggling to drive this story (yes, an admittedly key, aspect) along, BUTT...sorry, BUT...and here, in my opinion, is another plaudit for this much unfairly maligned Developer, she is being totally honest and open with us about exactly what she is trying to do, and how, in the context of fairly limited (although the supremely, breath-taking, heart-pounding quality of her rendering is clearly no limitation at all) experience and ability with the tools of the trade.

Anyway, I LOVE "In No Need For Love" (which also, I think, should actually read "In No Need Of Love") and I do so hope that this self-described, full bosomed, defiantly (perhaps?) unshaven lady continues stoically and steadfastly onward (and vigorously upward and downward too) regardless of all the outrageously inconsiderate and uncaring slings and arrows coming her way aimed at her and her undeniable talent and devotion to her budding craft by the many moroons...who are admittedly absolutely, of course, entitled to their own equally worthless (as mine, that is) opinions ...in here.

So, dear Ms. Hakunak...as the Aussies say "You go, girl!!" Please, I beg you, get "Off Hold" as soon as you can, get back to it keep and keep at it and don't for C*****'s sake, listen, for one more second, to these rowdy, unruly naysayers of F95...

Yikes. I try not to bash on garbage when the dev has no English skills, but this should have just been made in their native language. It is barely readable.

The braindead use of sound effects was cute until 30 seconds in when they use a spongebob meme, and then 30 seconds later when they use it again, I knew I couldn't stomach another moment of it.

If there is a story, it's told so quickly that I simultaneously know too much and nothing at all of what's going on.

Please, take your time. It's worth the extra effort to make a product with a bit of polish because this has 0 things going for it other than the cute girl designs.

This game is the example of trying something brand new with a iffy execution. Being nice - in apparence - doesn't really change anything more than some of the endings so far. The being an asshole part will often cut you from sex scenes which is usually the case meaning - in a single playthrough - I haven't really seen the different with keeping the "Being Cold" status to a minimum.
I will say I like the large variety of model used for female. After playing hundreds of those Visual novel adult games, you will see some repetitions in models and here I have to say it's good to have MILF that don't look like a 26 yo stripper with massive boobs but more like a normal 40 something woman with a nice pair of boobs and normal old woman body. The scenes has some back ground generic porn sound which is OK but like, I will say I don't need it. I think the scenes for a under 1GB game are pretty good too.

The horror thing here is.... kind of not needed. I don't see how being a douche or using power - so far in the current game - has any impact. I think that choices matters but not much. There's a scene that brings you to a sex scene and another that may or may not. That's it.

Game is a nice pilot project for a new author. I enjoyed girls and still interested in plot and new scenes. I hope that author will remake his decision and continue this game. And also i hope that if people on this site is unhappy with something they would not harass author and will behave like adult calm people. if game has a routes that you hate then just avoid this routes or if this game is not for you then avoid whole game. Or just polite ask an author to make more content for routes that you like more.

Idk I'm a more casual game enjoyer and I always check out updates with netorare. I don't always finish games and this was one of those cases. I started getting into the story a bit but then was basically given tone whiplash in one of the transition screens. (You'll know which one I mean)

I felt a bit confused but I would definitely say that it ran smoothly and, for the most part, had great eye candy.

v0.5a

When i played v0.1, I initially thought this is gonna be just another harem collector game but i was pleasantly surprised.

This VN now has a main plot involving supernatural elements putting the MC in more of an investigative role which makes the narrative a much more interesting read. Theres also the respective individual character quests like you adoptive mother's estranged husband as well as your unhinged brother or your colleague struggling financially. I play VNs for the stories so this was a huge plus. I won't say the writing is perfect but its adequate for now. Hopefully dev continues to capitalize on it.

Characters are a hit or miss for me. Some appealing to me with fleshed out personalities and interesting backstories while others feel lacking, which i believe will be touched on in future chapters. Variety is there so not to worry. You'll get your tsundere, slut or mommy love interests for sure. One thing that needs improvement is the romance portion. Needs way more scenes and a better storyboard because currently it feels monotonous, short and lacking the emotional connection. Dev needs to slot in longer scenes and cook the romantic relationships more.

Models and renders are beautiful. To be honest the anime-ish style does not appeal to me and i find the oversized boobs a turn off but you might like it. Overtime i learn to appreciate the dev's aesthetic choice though. Animations are fine.

The lewd content is a bit of a disappointment, scenes are too short with a lack of leadup, foreplay and aftermath scenes. One second you're banging the chick, 5 seconds and 2 scenes later you're back in the main story, like nothing happened before. The choreograph for the sexual encounters needs more work.

Overall this is a decent play and i've got it on my watch list. Hopefully dev improves on the points above.

This will be a shorter review as this is a shorter game (at this point anyway).

Graphically: I enjoyed the art style and found that to be, far and away the best part of the game. Though you can check screen pictures and see for yourself.

Story: is a bit of a mixed bag for me. I won't go into specifics to avoid spoilers but suffice to say, I found some of the character-based development well done (if needing some technical polish), but the overall story itself... It seems a little like its all over the place and gave me the impression that the author didn't have a firm (or conceptual) end-point / script that they were following. Instead, I got the impression that they were sitting down, and just writing, without a roadmap or outline.

Gameplay: It's a Ren'PY game so there is typically only 'so much' variance, with that in mind... The UI is a bit of a low point for me, and detracted from the game, the Menu's are just 'bad', in-game is better, but could still use some work. Overall I would say the UI is functional, but the developer really needs to put some thought into refining it.

Sound: I play without sound so cannot comment.

Conclusion:
The graphics are the high point here, the rest of the systems are very, very basic Python alterations. The story is somewhat directionless and ranges from "word soup" to "decent development", it does have its moments, but not that many of them.

Overall I get the impression that the developer cares more about their character's emotions/feelings/actions than they do about the overall structure of the story, or the technical game systems and polish.
It honestly makes me wonder if this developer wouldn't be better suited to making comics, as those are the elements that they seem to do better in.

Overall I would give the game a 2/5 maybe a 2.5 if there was some work done on the UI and menus.

For myself;
Unless I get a strong recommendation from a friend, I doubt I will revist the game.

So far story is good, like there's an actual story.

Otherwise generally we see some dumb teenager or someone in their 20s putting dicks everywhere like a preprogrammed robot.

Art is also good. But the sex scenes should be a little more elaborate.

Let's see how it develops in future, hoping to see completion of the game.

v0.2b Review

Visuals
The thing with this kind of generic 3D character is that, once you saw them once, you saw them all and for good. For me, it's a plus, cause I really like the style, but only for females, since males always look like a buggy character from a 90s game.
Same goes for the scenarios, which are the generic and standard maps you saw a million times already.

Audio
The music is ok. Just your average, free porn game BGM. Same for the sounds.
No voices.

Story
This game tries to be serious but fun, and scary but not too much, resulting in a script that, simply, doesn't work. Your actions are actually taken into consideration half of the time, making stats and most choices kinda useless.
The story itself is a mash of different cliché stories put together in an attempt of making the game more mature and shocking, but actually only leads to some situations brought out of nothing that doesn't even make any sense, and mostly feels like "oh well, there needs to be something between sex scenes".

Gameplay
The UI is weird. While the menus are among the worst I've seen, the in-game elements and texts are, actually, not that bad. Pretty decent, even. What the game lacks, in regard to this particular element, is cohesion. Everything is different, feels like a bunch of stuff from very different places smashed together.
About the game itself, it takes the "be a meme if you wanna be fun" way too seriously. Transitions and jokes are funny the first two or three times you come across them, but after the 50th time it gets tiresome.
You'll find a small but decent bunch of sex scenes already, but they are animated with 4 frames (if I can count) and the transitions aren't smooth. At all. So you end up not enjoying them since it's a pain to watch.


Final words
There's a lot of potential here, but definitely needs A LOT of really hard work, time and effort to turn into something that's actually decent. That means wait for several (and I mean it) other updates before trying it out.
As it is right now, definitely skip it.

Models are decent enough, but game lacks choice and only gives you an illusion of choice as you are forced to make one choice after having taken another choice in a way that makes no sense. Why list it as greyed out unless you want to make player mad? Example of this is apparently being nice GF means you're a bitch to your brother and let him punch you instead of being able to take choice of punching him.
