Hi everyone. I previously shared a post about Patreon and an incest patch, but that was about a patch. This time, I have a different question, and I also have a response from Patreon.

I asked Patreon whether there would be an incest problem in a game where the main character watches other family members, and they replied as follows:

Now, the sentence that confused me is this: "Avoid explicit or overly suggestive depictions of familial relationships."

If I avoid explicit or overly suggestive depictions of family members’ relationships with others, then it’s not really an adult game, is it? What exactly are they trying to say here? Are they asking for scenes not to be pornographic? I asked Patreon this follow-up question, but unfortunately, they didn’t respond. Based on your personal experiences and the response above, would a game where the MC only watches their family members create problems regarding incest?

here's the relevant part from guidelines:

"Incest

*snip*

Permitted

• Sexual activity between members of a family who are not blood relatives (e.g. in-laws).
• Personal accounts or survival stories involving incest.
• Fictional plot points involving incest that are part of a larger narrative."

what this basically says is you can have incest IF its not sexualized but instead a depiction of sexual abuse a character survived. so no jerk off -material, but depressing drama about sexual abuse and how it destroys the victim. then you go on to tell a story about how this abuse affects the character in her later, outspokenly consensual and never con-noncon sex-life where she can't even look like she's not enjoying sex while having it.

like you can probably show a dad push his daughter's head down to suck his off-screen dick, then cut to after the sex, showing the daughter crying and dad leaving the room. but you can't show any fun stuff and it can't be wanking material because that would be "sexually gratifying" and not covered by the 'survival story' exception. that's how I understand it.

of course you still need to run your 'incest survival story' implementation through patreon censors and they might break these guidelines at a whim. and even if they accept it now they can change their mind anytime they like.

(oh, while it says here non-blood relatives like inlaws are fine, there's a bit in the part I snipped which explicitly forbids step family, adopted and anyone in the "same immediate family". it makes no sense in regard of inlaws, but that's the rules we have.)

Well it really depends, even implied is usually enough grounds to have your page taken down. Hell saying the word D---y can also get you reviewed/removed. So simply put NO incest unless you eventually want to get banned. Subscribestar is usually where you'd want to be if you wanna do those kinds of story.

If not - only reading Patreon's response doesn't really give us a full picture of what you are asking and what they are meaning.

If you actually want reasonable advice - you have to share both sides of the conversation.

That's what they are saying. They are not asking for the scenes not to be pornographic. They are telling you that you cannot have that content and have your game on Patreon.

You cannot have content that would be sexually gratifying between family members. Period.

You are being cagey with your wording: "MC only watches their family members" --- what is the MC watching their family members do? What is the MC doing while watching them? What does the player see and experience?

Subscribestar is so ass at approving accounts and emailing back their creators that I'd be surprised if they had time on their hands to go chasing down offenders of their content requirements, unless its a case of mass report.

patreon finally answered the second question. i asked for a more specific answer and they said that if mc enjoys watching his family members with someone else, it violates our community guidelines, if not, it doesn't. if mc doesn't enjoy it, it would be a bully themed game, which i don't like. thank you for your answers.
