I've seen this game in the recent updates a few times, I'm honestly curious to check it out myself when I find a bit of time. The spinoff that you've mentioned is by the same author?
Parasite in City and Anthophobia are some of my favorite and I'm not generally an action side scrolling fan, however I think the combination of the gameplay and H events was top notch and it came out spectacularly well, in my opinion.
Thank you for experimenting with difference masking and sharing your thoughts. I was not aware of such method, but I enjoy technical concepts and learning by experience or reference, so this read was very interesting.
My experiments were all around working with compression and quality reduction of the images, but there are a few problems and limitations with this. Still, considering the fact that lossy compression at 90% quality basically reduced in 1/4 the size of the game, I think I can live with those limitations .
The game is not necessarily rich or deep in lore and background, but it gives some space for us to fill in the gaps, even if we have to apply a bit of suspension of disbelief to do so, for example, you might view her as a musclehead or stubborn brawler type of adventure, who feels no need for weapons initially, until finding herself outnumbered several times. Maybe she was naive and even thought the island wouldn't possess any form of "dangerous" life forms.
Regarding the animations, there is not much I can provide you there, I'm afraid. This is the original game's artstyle and art is something subjective to the viewer. I actually enjoy a lot of this animations and find them very fluid. Considering the amount of work that drawing 3000+ images might have cost Atella I dare say is one of the most impressive CG works I have ever seen. Of course that doesn't mean that everyone has to like them.
Eh, don't listen to that Malaac guy, checking his profile he seems to have created his account for the express purpose of stirring shit with developers. Been seeing a lot more trolls around the board recently, wonder if staff is gonna do anything about them.

Here is some early concept art. Apparently it's about a nurse trapped in the Apokalypse. I haven't read a working title yet, mostly because he posts updates on his Cien page. Since I can't read whatever language that is, I didn't mess with it to not accidentally order a dish washer or something...
If you want to play Syahatas bad day try to get a 1.0.1 or below. Since he censored 1.0.2 and later versions
Oh, that's quite interesting. Honestly warms my heart to see JPEG still finding wins after all of these years and I'm definitely going to have to play around with Godot importing options. As for the color trick, I can't believe that I forgot about that. Those ugly magenta sprite sheets are something I haven't seen since like the 2000's One of the goals on my project was to set up palleted sprites, but if I can cut the alpha channel at the same time it's probably be a win. Thanks for the idea!
There's a few animation previews on his ci-on, mainly walking and one brief 69 h scene with zombified nurse.
It seems like we will be able to freely undress the main character this time around. Looking forward to the game but there's probably still a long time till we get a playable version.

Thank you for the heads up. I try to take all criticism seriously to keep the discourse open and ideas flowing in, but I guess I'm a bit oblivious to some types of behavior . I'll have to be a bit more attentive in the future as to not waste much time where it is not needed .

I've played a bit of the beginning and I have to say I'm amazed, maybe I actually like action side scrollers after all. However I find the scenes and animations in Syahatas to be very good and provoking. I stopped at the Flies for now (which were a good surprise when I got caught by one), but it seems very promising and a good source of ideas as well .
The new project seems interesting as well, I'll keep an eye open.

Glad I could give you an idea! That is intriguing, are you using PNGs for your sprites? I would be interested to know how much space could be saved by taking the alpha channel out of different formats.
As a side note, on my tests I noticed that WEBP tends to blur sharp color changes, so if you require flat colors or sharp contrast, maybe WEBP won't aid you much, I would say.

One fly ain't enough though. Wait till you get 2. The flies are my favorite enemies.
I replayed it yesterday, doing a pacifist run. I didnt kill anything except the gym boss and the final boss. After you beat the game, you unlock the gallery.
It’s hard to gather resources and kill the dogs and all so the mosquito scene is annoying and can’t skip it nor doesn’t impregnate or lay eggs in her to effect the game play, I fell like I’m losing more to the roaches when they grab, same applies to the jellyfish?

PNG has been my goto for the convenience of saving with transparency, but since I wanted palleted sprites (and forgot about using shaders for that) I was considering implementing a primitive run-length encoding format. That said, I'm super new to Godot so I have no idea how well or easily the engine can handle importing custom image formats or manipulating textures. IIRC, both PNG and BMP are indexed so there's probably little benefit to doing this than for fun.

Ah that sucks. When I tried that test before there was an export option for lossless on WebP, but even with that enabled I was second guessing if the artifacts were from the original images or transcoding. I also had the impression that the image had darkened a bit, but that might have just been my eyes playing tricks on me.
Thankfully my art is trash enough that the encoding might be a plus so I'll probably experiment with it for large backgrounds. At this point I am just so sick of seeing random RPGMaker games with a handful of cutouts/cgs checking in at > 1GB.
Just uploaded the translations version v0.81 to itch.
The main focus was adding translations provided by helpers, so there is no new content unfortunately, but please check it out to test the small combat re balances in item stats and healing amounts, as those can prove a good improvement for combat, or not really.
The changelog is at the customary place,

I will upload the update on F95 tomorrow, as I'm a bit tired today. After that, I'll resume the work on v0.85 with the slugs content .

I have two questions.
1: Is there actually 23 scenes in the game, or is that just how many there will be when the remake is finished?
2: Slightly unrelated, but does anyone have any suggestions for other games with insects and corruption?
On that note, I am liking what's been done so far!

All the CYCLET chiba tetsutarou games. There's actually a couple more hidden ones I know of but don't remember the names to. And the most recent one I would like to see get translated:

1. Yes, there are 23 scenes currently, albeit only 22 are re-callable, which means you can only unlock up to 22 out of 23. The missing scene is the Wharf Roach game over which you can view, but given its game over nature I'm yet to implement a mechanism to allow to unlock it before loading a save.

Ah, thanks. Admittedly it feels like the list is lacking/mainly American games, but that might just be because of your dislike of Japan's censorship. Personally I can deal with it.
Not sure if I'm missing something.. but the jellyfish are extremely hard to kill even with dragon sword, steel shield and armor.. is it supposed to be that hard?
