VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Instinct Unleashed [Final] [Kind Nightmares]

You're probably wondering why this only has a 2... well, it's simple.

- The graphics aren't bad, but at times they look like they're not rendered, which is quite jarring, but acceptable.

- The animations are good, and they improved throughout the game, so good for them.

- BUT the story, which at one point seems promising (Futa MC seeking revenge for her father's death), ends up being a poorly executed cliché that loses all unexpected plot twists after just 5 minutes of attention... the characters who seemed like the bad guys are bad, the motives that seemed transcendental and important turn out to be nonsense, and the characters are simply idiots from beginning to end.

And it's in this last point that the worst part of the game lies: the characters, especially the MC. God, she's one of the worst MCs I've ever had the misfortune of playing with. "Because she's strong?" No, "Because she's dominant?" No, that's excellent, the problem is that if we take that away, the MC is a stone, she doesn't have the personality to save her own life, the whole story has the air of someone smelling shit, and worse, she treats people like dirt if they don't submit to her. It's not just that she's dominant in bed, but she literally treats others with arrogance, and if they disagree with her or point out the stupid things she does, she attacks them without a second thought. Even characters who help her end up in the worst possible way, like Danny, a shy and intimidated guy who helps her with her research, and then, out of nowhere, instead of thanking him, she transforms him, turns him into a whore, and steals his girlfriend, humiliating him... all consensual, of course... because a 40 kg guy with self-esteem issues can set limits for a 90 kg behemoth of muscle so he doesn't sodomize him, right?
Even worse, the men in this game (ALL OF THEM) are submissive, cucks, sissies, or, in the best-case scenario, they're dead, and that's pathetic. To try and portray the female protagonist as strong, the best the developer could do was turn the other men into pathetic caricatures and remind the player every five minutes how strong and dominant she is—something that gets tiresome after three chapters, but they repeat it 15 times, yes, 15.

You might think it's not so bad since it's a porn game after all, and yes, it would be if it weren't a damn visual novel. The story is everything, and having the female protagonist as unbearable as Captain Marvel is ridiculous.

Total waste of time, not recommended except with a completed save and for a quick wank.

Good story, with a goddess-like futanari MC and a harem full of beauties. My only small issue is that after the story’s climax, the afterstory felt a bit too fast and could’ve used some extra care—maybe a few more scenes or even another time skip with everybody settled down.
This game was so good that when it ended, it gave me some mild depression…

Very few games I feel depressed after finishing due to it being the end of a good story, fewer still I am willing to leave a rating for. Honestly, felt connected to the MC so it was sad seeing the story have a conclusion, a conclusion, IMO, was very well done. But as the saying somewhat goes;
"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened ."

I'm not good with words, so this will be a short review with filler words.

The sex scenes are hot, the story is captivating and keeps you hooked, and there are multiple endings, which I always like when your decisions have an impact. I'm totally into futa games, so that's a plus, but if you want story as well as sex, this is definitely the game for you.

Good and immersive story with a few good twists here and there. I liked the writing, found myself reading more of the story than in other visual novels. Honestly wish the epilogue was longer. The character and outfit designs are good, sometimes the hair could be jarring because of the software used for the renders with shorter haircuts looking very patchy, but overall nice.

I went into the game for the premise which sounded good.

From the story point of view, the game kind of delivers. I found the main arc interesting, that is finding out about the MC father and what going on when it all unveils, but the pacing is pretty stretched I would say. The game has many long sections where there is no actual progress regarding the story, and its just follow the MC going to do something here and there... some of the scenes has build up for later, but some of them feels pretty random.

The writing is decent and the characters are interesting. Each has its own quirks, and they all deliver something to the story in one way or another and most of them have some character progression.

On the visual front, the game is lacking in today's standards IMO. The models, scenes, animations are very lacking, specifically at the first 8 chapters or so, and especially the animations which are like 2 key frame animations. This was really disappointing - but this changes eventually, so if animations are important to you, you will need to hold on there for something like 7-8 hours of reading. After the animations overhauled, they are much better than what was before, but the scenes themselves are still feel plain and majorly vanilla.
At the first dozen of hours, the H-scenes in the game are pretty far apart... something like half an hour. So its a slow burner which is getting hotter and hotter as the game progresses.

During the game you have choices to opt in or opt out from most character's relationship route which is good especially when you are not into some fetish, like futa on male.

The MC is kind of cold and never expresses her feelings or so, it has a reason narrative-wise, but it is explained way far into the game, towards the end - but anyhow, it makes the MC kind of boring and predictable in every encounter, you almost never learn anything new of the MC and you could say that she never changes throughout the game.

Overall, the game is worth playing if the premise sounds good to you and if you able to suffer through dozen of hours without decent animations.

An excellent futa game, with an absolutely stand out MC, both in her gorgeous appearance (every render of her abs coated in sweat makes me a worse person in the best way possible), but also her refreshingly dominant, antihero personality.

Some of the visuals aren't the strongest at the start of the game, but you can see the developer's skill with their tools improving as the game progresses, which is always something I find very charming in these indie VNs, especially from a first-time dev.

There's a nice variety in the LIs and your dynamic with them (and eventually the dynamics they might have with one another), and some legitimately touching story beats when the game begins closing in on the finish line.

This is not a review of the full game, I played the first 5 chapters, and all I experienced so far was a lot of bark, but not nearly as much of a bite. First 2 chapters promised a lot of interesting things, but it delivered only the most boring vanilla stuff in the next 3 chapters so far. The only exception is that the MC is a futa and that seems to be enough for people to overrate it. The plot is interesting at least I'll give them that. 3/5 for the story only.

This game is very similar to "The Writer's Visit" from VNAdults.
Similar MC (dommy futa), similar tags, even the visual style is exactly the same.
But this game has a lot of drama and a cheap, predictable plot. I would trade all these attempts at drama for more scenes and more content within each scene.
If you like the boring stories about the investigation of a parent's murder, when the police deliberately close the case - then this game's plot will suit you.
I'd be more into just more meaningless porn where the dominant futa comes home and fucks her family and everyone else around.
But in this game, where the dominant futa was intended, she ends up treating everyone with love and respect, asking for permission from everyone, and not dominating anyone in general.
But I still give this game a 5 out of 5 because the genre is rare and I want to see more stories like this.

I'll keep it relatively short;

i think this game is one of the very few that possess an MC that is actually good and interesting. I found Jade (the default MC name) to be a massive breath of fresh air compared to the typical, dipshit/dumb/immature trope you usually see. That and most of the characters are genuinely interesting and well-made, so this is by far the strongest point of the game from a narrative perspective. The futa aspect of the MC is also interesting, although in my case, i'm personally indifferent to them; I don't mind at all playing one, but i'm not actively seeking games with those.

The early parts of the game do a good job at setting up the world, tone, and character dynamics, which gives the impression that it’s building toward something deeper. Unfortunately, once you reach the middle section, the story loses steam and feels stagnant, since a lot of the mystery elements of the plot aren't progressed until at the end, where everything unravels pretty quickly.

The endings are the worst part of the narrative events. Achieving a “good” ending requires an almost perfect sequence of decisions, many of which are locked in early on. This design choice makes most playthroughs feel doomed from the start if you don’t already know the exact path or if you haven't made the exact specific choices.

To make matters worse, the so-called “good” ending doesn’t feel consistent with the story’s logic or moral framework. It demands a combination of violence and morally questionable choices, reinforcing the in-game trope that futanaris are inherently violent, dominant and "animal-like". Which feels conflicting to me and doesn't make much sense.

The visuals are quite rough and dated at the beginning, but gradually become better and more detailed. The sexual animations are decent overall (clearly Virt-a-mate type animations tho and are overall mostly at the middle and late game), but it's clear to me that the dev doesn't have experience with posing the characters; they feel stiff when any kind of motion or movement is involved, especially when punches and such are involved, a problem made worse by the implication of how powerful futa's are supposed to be. Right now, a fist is gently kissing the face and boom, the guy is out.

Despite all of these flaws, i'm still giving it a 4 out of 5, mostly because it's actually a fucking completed game for once that hasn't stretched out into 6 years of Patreon milking like you usually see, combined with a interesting MC and character set, decent amount of sex scenes and "good enough" story.

I love how games eases me into different genres. I never a fan of femdom content until I played "Confined with Goddesses". Similarly I play games with futanari content. But this one does right with me. Loved the story, loved the endings and especially Geralt's "Hrmm"(poor guy). Good job and hope to see more great content like this.

Jade is one of my absolute favorite protagonists in any AVN! The darkness, the quiet confidence, the gentle protective moments, the way she dominates and intoxicates the other characters, all of that would feel tired and hack if she were a man but with a woman/futa it works so perfectly. I've never been a fan of the impossibly-huge-magical-cock trope but I can overlook it here because she is otherwise perfect.

I love the variety of love interests and kinks explored (all avoidable) and as the quality of the graphics improved over the course of the development I was really very impressed with how beautiful some of the models were, particularly Viv, Ashley and Stella.

I know the visual quality was a perceived weakness of the project, particularly early on, but I think the fact that it doesn't look like every other cookie-cutter Daz or Honey Select game becomes an advantage and a helpful point of difference.

Very excited to see what Kind Nightmares does next

You know, I'm not going to be lazy and leave a review. This is an example of good, painstaking, and importantly, completed work. Now 70% of games do not reach release, and such nuggets are rarely found among AI slag. Great job, Kind Nightmares.

I can only add that there are not many really important choices, but the story itself is quite complete and self-sufficient.

An excellent vn, The story was really interesting, hooked me from the start, all the characters including Jade (especially Jade) were pretty amazing. The dev has been pretty clear about what the game is and what the game isn't and I think they absolutely delivered.
All the girls were gorgeous (man, even the expressions were really well done).
Cons? I think I might be the only person to ever say this , the story was so good that I kinda wished that there were less sex scenes (yeah,yeah I know ,porn game and all). I loved the true end, I like how everything wasn't all sunshine and strawberry icecreams.
To conclude - a great story definitely worth your time, well if you aren't here for the story - the women are super gorgeous (all of them , including the ones who didn't have a vagina).

Perfection in VN form, it's sad that it's come to an end... but I hope the creator brings us more wonderful works like this. This VN made me anxious for many days for the release of its chapters, and even though it didn't give anything to the game at first, it surprised me a lot in a short time, with its characters being extremely charismatic.

I am not content with the current ending (even the best past is imo missing a big big happy ending with one big scene) but I am rating it as high as 5 stars to off-balance some negative reviews which I think go overboard.

Everywhere else the game is really really well made, well written. Renders could be better, and the quality was even a bit off-putting to me at first, but once you get past that and get used to it, the smut itself is really good.

I can only suggest the dev that he could push another update if they so wish, and if it makes sense for the story of a smut game (which, I think it does) to end with a love+sex scene or near one. Or a series of epilogues containing smut. At the end of the day, it is really just up to the dev and where they want this project to end.

I can tell from personal experience that this has taken a lot, a lot, a lot of work and time, even if it may not look like it to some, and can't bring myself to rate any lower, considering that.

Other than missing 1 or more final scenes, I feel the endings to be rushed as well, with lots of pivoting in how characters feel towards each other, and some of these changes happening very, very fast (even if under extreme circumstances)

To people commenting there isn't male MC, or sub path, or "bla bla"... what the fuck, dudes? At least play the game or consider what it is about before yapping.

We always tend to give more importance to negative opinions about things.

But I have to say that Instinct Unleashed is a great game in every way.
We can avoid content we don't want to see, and it also has a great story.
It's true that the models sometimes aren't as high-quality as they should be, limited by the graphics engine, but the content is high-quality, and that's important.
That's why I give this game the highest rating.
This visual novel is worth playing.

The focus here is Futa-on-Female. If that is appealing, then just play this.

The worst part of this is that you gotta mash clicking for animations to play. Not the animated movie animations of the "fun times." I mean minor things, like a character moving her head to look in another direction. The attention to detail is nice for all of... one chapter, maybe two. Beyond that, I started skipping ahead and scrolling back to skip all of this.
