Good day people, I'm Mr.Meh and am considering creating a VN based on vampires, I go by another name as a VN creator but would like to distance myself a little bit from regular content that I create and branch out, I just wanted to do a "interest check" so that if nobody would read or support the content I wouldn't be wasting my time.

I understand that "a VN based on vampires" is extremely vague so here are two synopsis of that I am playing with, feel free to ask questions and give ideas.

Synopsis nr. 1 : Transported to an alternate dimension where vampires rule, the protagonist finds themselves entwined in a web of conspiracies, rivalries, and seduction. As they delve deeper into this supernatural world, uncover hidden secrets and form relationships with powerful vampires, navigating the complexities of love, loyalty, and power.

Synopsis nr. 2 : Set in a near-future dystopia where a virus has turned some humans into vampires, the world is on the brink of collapse. Play as a vampire with a conscience, struggling to protect both vampire and human communities while navigating relationships in a world spiraling into chaos. Choose between peace, survival, or something in between, all while grappling with love and loyalty.

"wasting your time" what a greedy and obnoxious way to present your project, really show how much faith you have in your work.

you either do things or you don't, looking at some random strangers on internet to give you the "go" to do anything is stupid on so many levels.

and finally creating an alias to make a new game as you supposedly already are a developer is suspicious, when you already have an audience that would try your game just because YOU made it and they are already familiar with your work, so either you're lying because you're compulsive mythomaniac, or your previous game was bad, everyone hated it and you try to start anew.

This.

Unless the work is of such a massive divergence from what you have done previously.

What do vampires add to the pornographic visual novel genre? Unless there is a large audience for erotic vampire fiction (doubt), I hardly see how that is going to garner any more success than otherwise.

That being said a vampire bj would have an added risk factor.

I'm not overly fond of Vampires if I'm honest, I don't find the concept of someone latching onto my neck and giving it a good suck that appealing.

Why not go with Synopsis nr. 1 except instead of Vampires you get transported (through the warp™) to a realm of deviant and depraved "Dark Elves".

I'm talking cock pounding action, fluids everywhere, your cock red raw from overuse, all sorts of sick beast play, spiders wrapping your cock in silk as they suck it clean for mistress, even sexy psychic energies tormenting every fibre of your being.

Idk, just a few thoughts.

You know, if you did one loosely based off of the World of Darkness franchise of the supernatural (One of the best depictions of Vampirism tbh) I would likely give you a kidney in sponsorship.

Just don't ask where I got it from.

James Woods : "Hey, Chil. How does the movie sound?"

John Travolta : "Well, you don't have a movie yet. You have a setting and a premise. But you don't have character arcs or a plot"

I was as chilled as I could be, my advice was sound as far as I believe. If you are already a developer within whatever genre, then unless it wildly diverges from your previous work and supporters genre there is no need for an alternative name and brand. That is sound business sense.

If Atalier Sakura suddenly made a Harem game under his name do you think his core fanbase of fans would play it? Or would it be better to use a different name? Stephen King has wrote Romance novels, but under a pen name. There is only so far a name and brand can take you.

There absolutely is a market for "interview with a vampire" style dark, brooding, charismatic vampire and bodice-bursting self-insert naive yet sensuous female. A *huge* market.

I don't know if they hang out on F95, or play porn games, but that audience does exist.

Trust me, games like Vampire the Masquerade bloodlines, even though extremely old it still has a large following. Sexy Vampires, gore and implied eroticism. If a dev can pull that off they will get a strong following!

lol wut?

Erotic vampire fiction probably has one of the larger audiences. Vampires are at least somewhat sexual in nature in all fiction.
They don't hang out on f95 or play porn games because they are women, who, I guess are <0.1% of the user base. If OP were marketing his game to women it would be a different conversation. I reckon vampires pull women because they play into the female conceit that they wish to be imprisoned and dominated by a mysterious, debonair not-so-gentleman.

Anyways ty for the replies and point taken. I'm now a lead dev on a vampire-fic renpy vn marketed at wine moms on facebook, looking forward to making millions.

Kate Beckinsale in Underworld and Van Helsing was spectacularly appealing to me as a teenager, so if you can capture that vibe there's definitely a male audience for it outside of facebook wine moms, it all comes down to the execution.

Or Kate Beckinsale in Underworld. Basically make one of the women look like Kate Beckinsale and you have a hit.
