Hi all, apologies in advance if this is in the wrong section of the forum, I couldn't really see anywhere else more appropriate to post this.

I am interested in making a Ren'Py AVN, however, my knowledge is severely lacking in a few aspects and would love some pointers from those more knowledgeable to get me going in the right direction.

To start off with, I'm a developer with a decent amount of experience in Python. I've got some basic experience with Ren'Py by making patches as well as helping a dev implement a whole new system into their own game. What I don't know I'm confident I can pick up easily.

What I don't know and will need the assistance in, is all the steps that lead up to the renders seen: the software used, where to get the models and how to customise them, animating them, etc. I'm sure there are multiple options for a few of these so if you want to recommend something specific, please do.

I currently have all the time in the world and want to create something, even if it's just as a learning experience. Any help towards that goal is greatly appreciated.

My signature has a tutorial, I think it'd be a good starting point.

Daz3D ... same site to buy things for a daz3d then you need to open daz3d and make your game/content. Creating your first character is actually not that hard and is one of the easier thing to do in daz.

If you dont have a good pc you can I think use a koi- something engine + others ??? As Daz3D uses iray which you need good pc for.

I am also interested, I will jump into looking at Daz3D.

Also, I now have a budget for a new PC, what components should I go for to be good for this? AMD/Intel CPU, AMD/Nvidia GPU Which is better for this type of development? Do I need to load up on fast memory and fast storage too? I guess I wondering where I get the most bang for my buck. thx

Amd cpu / nvidia gpu .... ssd and when you will need another space then external hdd.
Gpu nvidia 8vram was okay before gen9 characters and it is still okay but now I would say 12vram is very much the good/okay and then the rule would be higher tier/cost components the better.
32gb of ram or more
This is more or less if you have low or close to mid budget. Also depends on what is low and mid for you.

rtx4090 would be best if you have money

8 / 12 / 16 / 24 Vram .... I think is what is available right now with the nvidia cards.
