When you access the F95Zone forums and/or download any content, do you use any "special" connection to protect your traffic?

Why do you use this or not?

I am a bit conflicted myself on this matter.

On one hand, the content is generally legal (i.e. no kiddieporn) and pirating small time devs isn't as risky as pirating AAA companies.

On the other hand, it's still pirating and a lot of the content is still dubious from moral standpoint and may therefore be better to keep private.

I can understand the fear of being caught pirating. Especially considering the content we have here. But lets be honest most federal agency have a lot more to deal with. More then likely they arent going to send the party van for a few gigs of porn.

VPN (with TOR available). Couldn't choose 2 LOL. But then again, I run my firewall connected to VPN 24x7. Then no matter what I connect, it is automagiclly protected.

And I do it as a day to day security measure. Nothing illegal, but in today's helter skelter online world it is best to be prepared, even though it may not be enough. My new mantra is "There are people out there smarter then you are!" LOL

agencies focus on the people that generate the streams: basically, if they have to target this forum, they go for the guy that keeps up the servers. We are small fries, 99% of us doesn't even upload anything.

Also, just give me the name of a person that you know IRL that never pirates anything. Really, if we had to put in jail every person that offended the copyrights, the free world population would be 1/10 of the normal value, and I'm not saying 1/100 because there are many people that don't have internet or don't know that they can pirate or how to do it.

edit: after checking with google, seems that we are 7,5 billions people on Earth, 4,2 of which don't have an internet connection. This is embarassing, as a human being.

Personally i use nothing to hide my online activity. My government won`t come after me for pirating some porn games, that`s for sure. And i`m pretty sure that like @Antonia Timmens said "there will always be someone smarter than you".
But still since i appreciate my privacy i think i should do something about it. I mean it`s a wild wild world out there and it could get really scary sometimes.

If I were more paranoid about this, I think I'd use TOR to access the forums and then only VPN to download.
But the problem with TOR is, that if you use it on a site like this where you have to log in, you always have to use it, which in this case is a bit bothersome.

Seeing that I'm not that paranoid (yet), I sometimes use a VPN but also sometimes just plain internet.

But all in all, I really hope that the Moderators are continuing to strictly enforce Rule 7 and that people here realise that this is very important to the safety of all users. If some agency deems that there is, in their opinion, virtual kiddieporn on this site, it may get ugly, and in that case, even always using a VPN is probably not sufficient.

I'm paranoid (the mental issue, not just the feeling), and still I don't feel the need to use anything else than a basic connection when coming here. None of the content is illegal in my country, and they'll not goes after me because I pirated some games, unless the authors of the said games sue me.

Just think about it, it's a forum, nothing more. There's games, but half of them aren't even pirated since they have free versions. Well, sometime you've the chance to have the free version before the author know it, so what ? You played a version two weeks before the date you would have had all right to do it ? What a big deal...
But there's also mods, technical help and a lot of totally legal subjects. Nobody know, not even F95 himself, that you clicked on a link, and if you really want, copy/paste it instead. So, why hide yourself ? You just come here to talk about games you acquired legally and about legal stuff related so these games. Stand to this if someone ask you, they'll not be able to prove otherwise since the games on your computer can have been acquired legally online.

I dont worry about the traffic. When I do download something of question, I just use my windows server or content with VPN.

I'm a doggo! Naked and furry is my way to go! :tf:
No, actually.. I maintain antivirus, antimalware, and scan each download. When I'd go hunting for links, I'd use sites that I'm aware of but sometimes I go to places where it's "risky" as in you can get a 'drive-by' virus within seconds. I always do a quick scan (temp folders and system folders included) immediately after visiting those sites. VPN cannot be considered reliable since law enforcement can ask for logs on nodes and many do cooperate with the law. And they won't tell you that and you will never know until it's too late.
Edited.. honestly, tor isn't as "anonymous" or as secure as it says it is, either. White hats and the law are very familiar with tor browsers and onion routers and do have their methods. In fact, police have run a tor website.

I would also add to my original post that I am more afraid of the people ON a site, less and agency possibly watching it.

The reason I don’t browse the chans is because I don’t trust the user base there. People here are pleasant and are good people so I don’t fear just using a standard connection.

1. If you planning to became Pope of Vatican in the future, you're screw up. If someone pledge to dedicate to defame you, they can track your internet activity.
2. If there's no TM as Trade Mark on the title, the owner don't have legal power over their product. Yes, it's still considered an asshole to pirate them. That's why this site avoid AAA title. Modding don't conflict with legal copyright.
3. You should knew already the risk when join pervert community.

The only risk I get from visiting this site is SBS (Sudden Boner Syndrome). It's painful, bad for the keyboard tray, and funny for onlookers. :D

VPN. The reason is simply that it's better to do it than not basically. I feel more comfortable this way.
