VN - Ren'Py - Intertwined [v0.13.1] [Nyx]

I am a bit surprised I have not already rated this as it is in my top 5 games on this site. Having said that, I would imagine there is not much I can say that has not already been discussed, so I will try and keep it to a minimum.

First of all, despite my 5 star rating, it is not a perfect AVN. There are going to be things in every AVN you don't like but there is so much goodness in this one, it makes up for any flaws. There is, however, one big eason for it's success, imo, and that's the MC.

My biggest complaint in most of the AVNs on this site is the MCs are usually a Gary Stu, which basically means they can do no wrong. They never screw up. They never make mistakes. They win everything and all the girls fall at their feet. This MC, however, is flawed. Yes, he is extremely charming, but he can make mistakes and hurt others. He can lose a LI if he makes the wrong decisions. He is lovable but also a selfish horn-dog. This is the way to write a MC. He falls down but gets back up again. He tries to learn from his mistakes. He has to learn when to follow his lust, his heart or his head and he has to navigate all of this while dealing with a dysfunctional family. It's so refreshing to play an MC like this one.

As far as the other characters are concerned, they are not just beautiful, but they are all complex and unique. Erynn is the hot model who seems to have it all but is terrified daily. Lexi who lacks self confidence and is easily jealous. Layla who is young and immature, trying to discover who she is and who she wants to become. Elena, smart, good looking but her family struggles and she is forced to be an adult sooner than she would like. I mean, all the characters are like this. They have depth and feelings and each of them are dealing with their own issues.

Okay... yes it's a bit of a soap opera. And yes, a lot of the h scenes are lacking, but there are a lot of them.

The other thing I really like about this AVN, is the decisions the MC makes matter. They may not be realized initially, but things he does on one day can impact things days later. I can't imagine how hard it is to keep all the paths straight. Regardless, you can play this AVN so MANY different ways and the story changes each time.

Anyway, I could go on and I know there are folks out there who are not going to be into this, and that's fine, but this is one of those MUST TRY AVNs. You may not like but you have to try it. If you have not played this yet, stop what you are doing, download it and give it a try. You may be disappointed, but I doubt it.

Very good. Writing is way better than the junk Hollywood is spitting out. Some of the stories drag on a little long (blackmail story needs to end) but the renders and animations are good. Nyx has certainly made some of the most attractive models in all AVN's thats for sure.
Only downside is the length of time it takes to make, but she does make it good when the update goes live.

I really enjoyed Intertwined! The storyline was engaging, especially because the characters were so interesting. Unfortunately, in the end we had to choose just one girl out of them all.

The visuals in the game are impressive. The character designs are detailed and the skin textures are realistic. Although the animations are limited, it doesn't make the overall experience any worse.

Overall, this game is awesome! I would give it an 8 out of 10. The characters are attractive, the story is interesting, and the visuals are great. This game is definitely worth a try!

The game is good, but it’s not the best I’ve played. I like how you can lose certain routes by overdoing it and trying to get all the girls in the first playthrough, which makes the consequences more engaging. However, the game has some flaws that affect the overall experience. My rating is 3. While it’s fun, I wouldn’t call it amazing.

Really enjoy this game, but it isn't perfect nor is it as close to perfect as other games. This game has a very, very diverse and large pool of Love interests, and romance is heavily highlighted, and this is probably one of the closest representations of teenage romance in any AVN. However, with so many love interests, the game can feel a bit bloated. This game has an average dev cycle for it's size, 1-2 updates a year offering new content for some, but not all of the love interests. This means that it's possible you can go some time without seeing your favorite girl have content.

One big positive I can give this game from a story standpoint is that the girls feel a lot more like real people than other AVN's, they have tastes and preferences, and each do feel like they realistically fall for the MC. This is also not a harem game, and it punishes you for playing it like it is, the girls will get mad at you for cheating. However, some of the behavior of the MC can break the immersion of this especially if you're trying to be faithful to one girl. The MC is just really touchy in general, having girls press against him, kissing them, walking down the street holding them in his arm, stuff that may push the boundaries of what's okay for a guy in a relationship to do to other girls. I'm not a fan of how these scenes are unavoidable if you want to be both a nice guy and faithful to one girl.

Despite this, these criticisms are minor in the face of what the game gets right, and it is very, very easy to find yourself rooting for the MC and girls he surrounds himself with. I have been and will continue to follow this game closely, would recommend anyone interested to give it a shot.

In terms of characters and story, this is one of the best games. Not trying to be overly realistic, yet still somehow grounded. There's no "golden path". LI's are different yet all interesting enough that it makes the choices harder.

Animations could definitely be better but this is one of the rare games on this site where sex scenes aren't the main component to me.

I've waited for a long time to try out this game but jumped in after the latest update (0.13), I've only seen good reviews and recommendations so my expectations were high to be honest.


I've played many AVNs, maybe too many, so I have certain expectations nowadays when trying out new games.

I didn't really enjoy the game, but powered through it for the sake of completing it once.


The visuals are quite dated, granted it gets better later on(and some reworked early scenes), but still wouldn't call it great by today's standards.

The animations are bad, no way around it, I've probably missed a lot since I've only played it once, but the ones I saw were quite bad and didn't change my opinion after unlocked the gallery and checked all the scenes, so if you want to play the game for the lewd content I'd advise against it.

I personally don't really care about animations, I'm fine without them, to be honest I rather play an AVN with no animations than have bad animations, but sadly this one has the latter* (edit: said former before the edit) so the lewd scenes are quite a letdown.


The story didn't really grab my attention, basically it's full of drama and drama baiting. Yes, the game is called 'Intertwined' but please, it's just too much drama and too much realism in some aspects of the game, some people enjoy it (probably a lot and I'm in the minority), but for me it's just too much and it gets quite frustrating after a while.


There is far too many LIs and far too many branches and because of this the dev time is going to be (if not already) astronomical and the story will only move forward very slowly. Granted I've only played it once, but it wasn't really a long playthrough and this game is more than 4 years old. Sure there are more routes, but I'm not replaying games, so it doesn't matter for me.


Just a few more things I didn't like:
- at the beginning of the game Emily (the mom) is somewhat sexualized (MC looks her up and down, spies on her changing, MC can kiss her, etc...) but she is not an LI, later on the MC can set her up with another guy (or a woman if not with the guy?) and they'll eventually fuck which is skippable but it still happens if the player chooses so (this is the only game I've played where such a scene is shown in the game and (admittedly) I've played a lot of AVNs), not sure what's the purpose of this scene at all
- some of the LIs doesn't even have any lewd scenes in this 4.5 years old game but Emily (the mom) gets one before them, which is baffling to me, I think it only exists to anger her hardcore fans..
- lots of the LIs only purpose is to create drama and to bait the player into 'hah, gotcha' moments since later on it'll cause drama with other LIs and closes their path even though no one is exclusive yet (???), so it's better only touch an LI if she's the only one in your whole playthrough, otherwise prepare for breakups/drama
- Erynn's story is quite infuriating as a childhood friend trope, she loved(?) the MC but somehow she gets baited into blackmail with a guy and the blackmailer likes to constantly remind the MC that he is only getting sloppy seconds after him, so I've lost all interest in her as an LI
- lot's of wasted dev time, this is my personal opinion but after reading some of the comments after finishing my playthrough it looks like I've missed a lot of optional LIs whose purpose is nothing else but to create drama for no other reason than to prolong the story. Additionally I don't care about Emily's (the mom) love life, she is not an LI, I don't want to hear or see about it, why is it necessary to have the mom look for a partner AND to show her fuck someone, still baffled by that...


All in all if you like drama and you don't care about the lewd aspect of an AVN this game could still be enjoyable for you, I personally don't care about highschool drama or to guess who is the father/mother of the 11th newly introduced LI, it gets tiring after a while. But sure as hell everything is intertwined, there is no doubt about that.

Excellent VN with a range of unique women to fall for. Definitely builds on the getting to know the characters of your choice and building the romance. Lots of replayability by following alternative routes / romances.

PROS:

1. Models are mostly gorgeous and sexy
2. Characters are fleshed out and intricate with own backgrounds
3. Semi-realistic relationships makes the game more interesting and provides several play-through options i.e. you can't really harem you way through the game and have any significant relationship.
4. The writing, structure and flow of dialogue is very good.
5. The story while complex in terms of relationships and associations is very good, the story is not complex at all really. This does in a little way negatively impact the story simply because the MC is just there in this town navigating relationships and little about life or any other event in his lift.
6. Music is nice to have but sadly the game has no sounds for sex or ambience.
7. Animations are impressive compared to most games, if I had to compare to best I have recently seen for reference I would say, Project Atmosphere could be a little better.
8. Pacing is generally good, but depends, because some characters do not have much content in terms of sex or developing a sexual relationship with the MC. This makes it a bit hard to rate for me. Overall there is a good amount of "Action" and relatively early on and cosistent, but again based on choice.

CONS:

1. UI can do with work by providing the player with stats on LIs and their relationship to the MC (as he discovers them)
2. Complex nature of game does create some frustration and the player often block their own progress inadvertently, causing several replays and not always knowing where you went wrong.
3. No sexual sounds or ambient sounds is unfortunate for such a great game.
4. Content is often not really that much, simply due to the complex nature of the games choices and how it affects certain paths. This is to be expected but still doesn't change that a single playthrough wont yield necessarily much content.
5. No much in terms of kinks or fetishes, which often lead to most of the content being rather vanilla. Also depending on choices the MC may not go all the way either. Some characters are held back for future content probably, which is a tad frustrating also if you have your eyes set on one character.

FINAL THOUGHTS & OPINIONS:

• Depending on how you play you may not have much content, which drives having to replay the game and try other options and other LIs paths. This can be a bit frustrating when the player is driving a particular path.

• Will pregnancy feature? At least one instances made me wonder if the MC knocked up a chick and the option to cum inside is sometimes available or just naturally happens. This would of course creating some interesting complexities to the game which I would love to see.
• This VN is probably one if not the best I have played and has so much potential for much more, potentially keeping the game "relevant" for a good while, provided the writer does not loose themselves in the web. This could be an opportunity for the developer to create "chapters" where the player can decide their goals at the start of each chapter to drive their own story for the MC e.g., particular relationship focus which just makes that the player does not need to replay all the content again to change one outcome for later chapters.

Episode 13 Review

I appreciate Intertwined Episode 13 having something dedicated for the parents apart from the main characters

Especially Emily and John, Not Melissa's john
Adriana and Enzo, trying for their 3rd child
Haley and Mike, in good terms not on those kind of terms
Except for Melissa.

I am satisfied with the current episode 13 , many cute moments with the LIs but craved for less Cara/Nikki/Mira and more Gabi/Elena/Melissa/Brooke.

One of the best VNs out there with the best story.

Got this epic game/story quite awhile ago and have played a few hours at a time amongst trying new games and playing favorites. I have to save I Love It! The writing and dialogue among the characters is very well written.The Ladies in this game have natural,realistic beauty each with their own personal stories that connect to the main character and others within the story.When playing it's easy to become immersed with your own character and the women that become part of your story life.. I care about them even the few I'm not really into..At times it feels hard to believe and a bit scary that I'm falling in love with 3 different girls and still care about the others. One is more than enough for a happy ending. I also very much like that the character I play while confident is a very nice and caring guy not some foul mouthed A-hole that degrades others and only cares about himself. There's plenty of Romance to be found in this game and you see the facial and body expressions of the girls often in 1st person view. Intertwined is a perfect story of how multiple lives can connect in circles of understanding,love and how they help each other to grow/learn about life..Wish more people in the World had these values. I do feel the game is better played with a mellow sound of music playing in the background as It helps me feel more of the emotions that stir up while reading it. The story is already very large but I'll love to see it continue to grow..

I did not expect such great storytelling and characterisation, this truly stands out in the genre as a quality work. Where there's plenty of action but also a narrative to hook you in with consequences for actions and choices both positive and negative. Plays strangely like an RPG, and it very thoroughly adheres to theme of 'intertwined,' in more ways than one and equally with plot twists...

I wish the developer well on this project, it's truly a gem.

This game is really really incredible, it has great renders all the girls are hot, and the scenes are great, but where this game thrives is its running, while the whole intertwined aspect can be a bit contrived at points, it's fun and keeps the game interesting, it's interesting to see the next level, it has great witty dialogue and great selection of choices and paths, many of the LIs are masterfully written to where you feel real attachment to them. Great Game Can't wait for more updates

So you cant nut, you dont laugh and just bunch of text that you dont care about. I would not recommend, theres better games similar to this.

I really enjoyed my first playthrough and am looking forward to experiencing more of the game by playing individual paths while I wait for the next update. This is definitely one of those games that you need to play several times in order to appreciate it fully, and I absolutely recommend playing “blind” first of all – with no expectations or targets, just making the choices you want to make in the moment. That way, I think you’ll get the best of all the little twists and reveals as they hit you for the first time. I did it that way and had a few little gut punches as my choices came back to bite my ass, and it’s great when a game can make me feel that way.

In any other game, those myriad twists and revelations would be coincidental to the point of absurdity, but it’s pretty much literally the name of the game here. I don’t mind it at all because it’s deliberate and clever without trying too hard to be clever. None of the twists are really that convoluted – most of them can be spotted well in advance of them being sprung – but they still work well and I love the way the story has been interwoven like this.

I also love the way the choices really do have an impact. A wrong move can not only lock you out of a particular love interest, but others will avoid you as well, as they show solidarity with a friend you’ve hurt. I don’t think enough games show that side of relationships, as they usually only focus on the impact on the person immediately effected.

The girls are fantastic, with a both a great overall selection, and some real standouts within that group. Their actual characters are really nice as well, with a good variety of personalities, and the main girls mostly have a good bit of story too, rather than just showing up as eye candy and potential lewd-scene partners. My one complaint is the same one I often find in these games, and that is regarding the range of skin tones used. There are a couple of characters (it might just be Alexis and MC, actually) who look a bit out of place, as everyone else looks vibrant and healthy, but those two are practically grey. I’m not sure why this comes up quite a bit, or if it’s just me, but it definitely looks a bit odd.

I had some high hopes seeing the high rating, but have no clue why people think so highly of this VN ...

As for the good, I generally like the character models and I think the dev did a good job of creating static scenes. The branching, despite me having issues with the story and choices themselves, seems well done. Tracking story branches especially as the number of branches increases is very difficult and should be commended.

Now, on to the bad, the story at a high-level ... kinda sucks? A lot of the events are nonsensical and rushed or glossed over and most of the characters are either shitty people, dumb, or both. I see at a high level a semblance of a narrative and the writing style is good but the content just isn't.

First, other than two of the LI's, most of the LI's have little to no build up in the relationship building department with the MC. It's basically 0-60 instantly. If this game was going for the Harem tag, this could be more excusable, but focusing on romance is a lot more difficult and actually requires build up with the characters. Of the two LI's where it make 'sense' (Alexis and Erryn) given their history, one of them is an insufferable idiot who you are effectively required to interact with as part of the story. And you're basically forced to forgive her for being an idiot.

Part of the problem is the dev tries to cram in so many LI's into the story which is a bad idea. After not showing some characters for a while, I literally forgot who someone was. Generally, it'd be better to have hard-cut branches, early, so if you're on branch 1, you have LI's A, B, C, but if you're on branch 2, you have LI's D, E, F, it makes it significantly easier to make a coherent story and actually focus on buildup.

Second, the reveal about MC's real father just didn't seem like it was handled well -- yes Andres and Santiago are both shitty people , but the mom Emily is also kinda shitty (see note above about how a lot of people in this VN are shitty). It was super clear from the narrative that meeting Santiago would be a bad decision -- even if she didn't physically cheat, it sounds like emotional cheating -- the mc just seems to brush it off, but even he wonders if Emily ever actually cared about Andres .

Lastly the sex scenes didn't really interest me, they just seemed boring. Probably just a difference in taste and style.

I played this for a good 5-6 hours, but can't really stand to play this any longer. I might revisit again, but I was seriously getting frustrated by the story the longer I played.

Very good game, it was one of the first vn I played, when it was still in a very early stage and I was very happy to see how the game has been growing and how the story gets better. The best of all (FOR ME) is the development of the characters and the process with them, I'm glad it's not the typical game that with two words you already have them in bed. Keep it up

Cons: The emotional portrayal of the characters is too rough, the girls lack a sufficient emotional foundation with mc，the early emotional groundwork of the game is too thin, resulting in a lack of substitution(I think this is fatal for AVN), and the rendering quality is poor. No music at all.Some of the plot twists in the game are too blunt.
Pros: Some of the characters are likable, and the rough script shows the author's ambition.
All in all, I think this work is overrated.This is my personal opinion, but there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand eyes, so please ignore my comments if you like this work.

Very generic game like many others nothing creative at all tbh, its ur typical generic boring game.
The graphics are alright nothing special, the character models i dont like them personaly, they are not that bad but for me they are not that good looking the MC face is generic as hell and all the girls have the hots for him for some reason.
The story and writing so far its the thing it throws me off the most, not good written everything is handle to you, every girl in the world is like omg i love him his so hot...and i barely know them for a 1 weeks or so....
if u looking for somethig to paste time sure go for it, if u want to play a decent or good game forget about this one its a hard pass

This game is strange to me, like a few others mentioned it in other reviews, I don't understand why it's so highly rated. This game is 3/5 at best, nothing more, nothing less. It's just an average VN.

The graphics are pretty basic, it just looks like all those 2018-2020 VN's, same goes for the models of the characters in the game.

The animations are really not that great at the start of the game but do get a little better later on with the updates. That being said, they're still pretty average compared to other similar VN's.

But the WORST in this game is by far the narrative/story. My god, the script and dialogues are so bad, the characters are just making shitty decisions, after shitty decisions, and then some MORE shitty decisions. The characters all act like victims, and they have absolutely no self-awareness or social awareness. Afterwards they cry about it, as if we, the players, would feel any type of emotional impact due to the pathetic decisions they took. The story feels like a stereotypical bad Korean drama or some trashy TV Jerry Springer who's the father type of crap.

Overall, this game is very mid, don't get fooled by the high reviews; it's just your average VN experience that's already been done before. 3/5
